This popped up on my linked in feed - a free advice line which offers legal advice to women suffering sexual harassment in the workplace welcomes applications from transwomen.

That's right women being sexually harassed by men, come and discuss the details of it with men.

oh joy I haven’t had my infertility weaponised by some utter bellend TRA who can’t tell the difference between men and women for oooh at least a few days

I’m infertile because my female biology malfunctions not because I’m a fucking man

HTH y’all 🙄🙄

Extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof. We won't do your homework. Because it's a lie you want to prove.

In the real world, the important thing is that the people with fetishes for hearing sexual stories, who like to push boundaries, and who are dangerous have XY chromosomes. The perpetrators are XY, however they identify. Having a service for trauma-impacted women shouldn't include them.

that's not how it works. YOU made a claim - you back it up.
Otherwise i, and probably other posters, will assume you plucked the numbers out of thin air.

The US is a very different country in terms of crime. Plus it's very obvious why you won't link to your stats, because they will be easy to pull apart.

But they don't include transwomen with all other women, do they? "All other women" would include transmen, but they would see transmen as men.

What are "gender categories" based on? Appearances? Stereotypes? Societal roles?

But racist attacks on Black people are because the attacker has identified them as Black, and has attacked them for that reason, so they form an obvious category.
How does a sexist attacker know they are attacking a transwoman, not a biological woman?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:19

It's horrific. And somehow even more chilling than if they'd just accepted all men: at least that would be honest and everyone would know where they stood. But no, it's only those men who pretend to be women and are willing to lie about it.

I agree.

PriOn1 · 06/12/2024 21:17

Surely the point of a helpline where women can phone and talk to women, the last thing wanted is a man’s voice on the line? Employing men is entirely counter to the point of the thing.

Hopefully this is top down or funding related and the women running it have the common sense and decency to turn down any men who apply.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/12/2024 21:15

Because no police force is apparently able to separate biological from trans women. So you can't back that up at all. There. Are. No. Such. Stats.

If we had those, we'd also have relative offending rates. Which would be interesting.

if you are referring to what i said about surrogacy, i'm guessing you are struggling to follow a very basic premise.

If you were looking for a surrogate to carry your baby. Are you choosing a trans woman or a woman (adult human female)?

(also leave people with DSDs out of your silly trans discussions, as they have repeatedly asked. And don't use "intersex" which is a term no longer used as it is completely and utterly incorrect)

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/12/2024 21:11

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:09

mate i dont define womanhood by the ability to make a baby

Well no, that's not the definition of woman, well done. Only women can make babies though.

Yes. I wish logic was taught in schools. Necessary and sufficient conditions. Having a baby is a sufficient condition to say someone is a woman, but not a necessary one.

I suspect PP doesn't understand pure logic.

you have been asked several times to back up your (frankly pathetic) argument.

Put up or pack in.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:08

Arrgh can't format!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/12/2024 21:08

if you can use female in your definition of woman, then i can too. a woman is just an adult with the gender most associated with females

That's literally gibberish. Go on, what is this "gender"? What are its defining features? You don't seem to understand how definitions work, "yall".

I didn't.

XY = man
XX = woman

How is that using the word in the definition?

You're essentially saying, "a snorgle is something that has snorgly qualities, that feels snorgle-adjacent". This is meaningless.

I expect this person is wheeling out some flavour of self reported convenience sample survey.

One that ignores confounding variables completely.

looking up the stats, for cis ladies SA rates are around 1/5 and SA rates for trans people range between 1/2 and 2/3. if you wanna fact check me im sure you can find some study on pubmed

How about you post a link to whatever made up stats you just "looked up"? Then we can see how they were derived and how reliable they are.
