After examining the evidence NZ health ministry comes to the conclusion which many other countries have:

Additional safeguards for puberty blockers
Publication date:21 November 2024
The Ministry of Health is today releasing an evidence brief and position statement on the use of puberty blockers for gender identity issues and outlining a more cautious approach to their use.
The evidence brief shows a lack of good quality evidence to back the effectiveness and safety of puberty blockers when used for this purpose...

The appropriate and safe care for this group of young people is critically important.
Any additional safeguards in the form of regulations would be to protect against the risk of future harm to vulnerable individuals.

The dominos are continuing to fall.
It was all lies.
The TERFs were right.

I hope I am wrong Lily. The Westmead team released some of the earlier warning papers. I doubt that the new team will be seeking balance at all.

I hope you're wrong @Helleofabore , but I fear you may be right.
Wonderful for NZ kids.

I didn’t see this coming - especially after the treatment of KJK there…

I wonder how long Australian decision makers will take to dismiss this development as irrelevant to Australians, just as they did the Cass Report in UK.

Sadly, I think that with the change of focus in the NSW care team, it could be much longer.

I remember watching the live stream of the LWS event in Auckland and thinking KJK wouldn’t make it out of there - those scenes were truly horrific.

The problem for the genderists is that biology and science are actually REAL. Unless they stop scientific analysis of their claims altogether, or get control to cook the results, they are always going to fail reviews if you get normal neutral medical specialists to review their claims in depth.

Puberty blockers have failed reviews in the following places:
UK, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, now NZ.

Yes - the problem in Australia is that we don’t have “normal neutral medical specialists” in charge! We have medical/scientific/political “experts” who totally disregard any evidence that doesn’t support their genderist narrative and laws.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/11/2024 08:54

Good. Another small step in protecting vulnerable children from all this.

Wow. Didn’t see NZ doing this anytime soon! That’ll cause some conniptions - American and U.K. TRAs have NZ on their ‘safe countries to run to from Trumptown/Terf Island’ list.

Fantastic for the physical well being of NZ kids tho!

borntobequiet · 21/11/2024 08:29

Great news.

I have close family in NZ so take a close interest.
