The really have lost the plot - how can anyone justify prioritising men with a fetish over the safeguarding of children?

EXCLUSIVE: Canadian Mother Was Told To Be More "Inclusive" After Complaining About A Male Wearing A "Child's Bikini" While Showering With Young Girls At Her Local Pool - Reduxx

The mother of a young girl in British Columbia, Canada, is speaking out after a man in a pink, sparkly bikini — adorned with sparkles, frills and princess tiaras — was found showering in the female changing room of her local public pool. After reportin...

Not defending Reduxx cos I don't know anything about it but Canada has self-ID so why would anyone call the cops? This is what people believe there.

Sleepydoor · 21/11/2024 01:37

I haven't minimized women's concerns at all. I think the idea of this happening in Canada is batshit crazy. I know people who work at parks and rec and they take this kind of thing very seriously. They would remove the guy and call the cops. I think Reduxx is seriously suspect. That's just my opinion.

Maybe it's the people you hang with. I lived in BC too, where DH is from, and there was waaaaaay more crazy going around than this and it's got worse too I think. Had a huge fight with DH about the Vancouver rape crisis place a few years ago as his opinion was that trans people needed the space and "if a few people get beaten up that's just too bad." Translate it as "a few women get raped" and I sometimes wonder why the fuck I'm still with him though he has really changed his stances on this now. And he was pretty typical of his circle.

At the bottom where? Which article? Which story? If it’s there on the website you’ve linked you should be able to link the story itself. Even if you say “at the bottom” describe what you’re referring to, that would be helpful. Can you do that?

If i link directly to the archive, it's missing the context.

It's the last section of the site I linked.

I do not appreciate it when someone addresses me in an antagonistic or condescending manner. Please be respectful.

At the bottom.

Honestly, reduxx's editor has even been criticized heavily by gc's. Not every ally is worth allying with.

I also don’t believe this news story. Im starting to think a lot of the more outlandish stories are either completely fake or the footage is staged. It makes sense as to why the media would do this, reality is boring and not newsworthy

You may not be seeing reports about it, but it's there.
I'd suggest a site to look at if your brave enough? But you'll have to figure out which site by yourself. If you want

bit of a contradiction there matey

That’s not an example of a story they got wrong. It’s an opinion website offering their view of the overall site.

Can you link to a story they published that was incorrect?

Anyone peddling conspiracy theories about immigrants and gay people in general are not pro-women.

I am a woman immigrant, and the number of policies I run up against that are exclusively designed to target and hurt women in immigration law alone are insane.

Yes, I’d like to see an example of an article that Reduxx have got wrong.

I would also like a better explanation of why we are supposed to dismiss the accuracy of an article based on association with someone that another someone doesn’t like or doesn’t agree with.

Your integrity isn't even relevant to the discussion, I'm not suggesting anything about it.

Did you have any specific criticisms of Reduxx's reporting?

Great -- I am no longer part of this "discussion". Stop insulting me. Stop addressing me.

Good for you. Not everyone is completely lacking in integrity. Stop suggesting I am.

I haven't said anything about your integrity, I don't know much about you, other than that you seem to think somehow that not supporting free speech for all is a sign of journalistic integrity. But maybe that's not what you mean?

And I would question the idea that journalistic integrity is actually incompatible with quite a lot of views that I don't particularly agree with or think are bad. Because they aren't about the view of the journalist as such, they are about having a certain kind of transparency and following the right kind of procedures around news reporting.

But the news platforms that are questionable at the moment are the ones we trusted back in the 90s. Do you have some specific examples of where Reduxx have been inappropriate in their journalism?

PinkChesnut · 22/11/2024 00:12

Sleepydoor · 21/11/2024 23:59

Fairly certain "the people who lack integrity" are just people she doesn't agree with.

TempestTost · 21/11/2024 23:56

I mean, I was a student at a university with a prominent school of journalism in the late 90s myself.

Quite a lot of the students I was friendly with went on to work for the CBC, and today are excellent examples of people who are quite happy to bury a story if it doesn't fit the right narrative.

Not just around gender issues either.

The day I found out neo nazis hate trans people because they believe trans people were "invented" by Jewish people to "infect" white Christians and turn good white Christian men into women was a day everything started to make sense to me.

Can't trust anything someone from Reduxx says, because they have a vested interest in lying to support their antisemetism.

Sleepydoor · 21/11/2024 23:24

Whatever @PurpleSparkledPixie This is the salacious DM I sent you:

Hi there! I have given some thought to the comments on this thread. I swore to myself I would not continue to interact on this thread and reported some posts to MN for the personal attacks. That is why MN deleted some posts. This is what I think. I do agree that there are some troubling issues with trans people using changerooms. I don't agree that anyone born male should be able to compete against females, just because they identify as female. However, I will note that the case in Barrie was an open competition -- it is open to all ages as an opportunity for anyone to just get an official time for their speciality. That open meet is not going to jeopardize any young girl from getting a place on a team or whatever. My issue that I raised on that thread in particular was that the source of the story is very troubling. I went to one of the best journalism schools in Canada in the 90s and I am a lawyer. I care very much about journalistic integrity and truth. I believe we can have conversations about trans issues without resorting to hyperbole and exaggeration. I don't think it helps to call someone a flying monkey and suggest they have bad intentions because they point out that the person reporting a story is not a journalist and seems to hate trans people or that the editor of a publication formerly worked for an organization that I personally know planted "instigators" or activists into situations in order to perpetuate their narratives.

Stop @ ing me and I will leave you all alone. Like, forever.

We could also add Canada, where men can self-identify into women's prisons, and when female prisoners ask the Elzabeth Frye society to help them challenge this, the EF people refuse. Because they serve all women, even the male ones.

The underlying issue in Canada is that the law supports self-id. So this guy says he's a woman, he is legally allowed in the women's changing room.

At least, so far that is how the law has been interpreted.

Elizabeth Fry must be turning in her grave. She specifically campaigned for women only prisons because of the dangers and assaults women prisoners were subject to. And she knew what a woman was - not a man.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 21/11/2024 22:42

Please do not DM me again. If you have any issues then put them on this thread for all to see. If certain things bother me then rest assured they will bother other people too, whether they post or lurk. I think on this particular subject of men insisting on being with naked young girls it's best to have the conversation out in the open rather than it being shut down as "doesn't happen".

As for giving me your credentials I do not care. Most people who say trust me I'm a lawyer or doctor or scientist or whatever tend to bs imo. Thank you.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 21/11/2024 21:17

@Sleepydoor
Perhaps you can use this article to broaden your reading of news articles and journalists. Not just the one I'm linking. This kind of shit has been happening for a while.

Outrage as transgender woman Melody Wiseheart, 50, competes against TEENAGERS in Canadian swim meet 'and shares changing room with terrified girls'
The event was sanctioned by Swimming Canada and Swim Ontario which issued a statement to the Toronto Sun defending Wiseheart's participation.

"Far away countries of which we know little". Which is most of 'em, for me, including Canada. I'm just reading about Nunavut. I'd never even heard of it, but it seems it's been going since 1999!
