The quoted comments from the congresswoman are brilliant

The thing that has shocked me is how the women who are true believers (or go along with it to be OTRSOH) have been utterly horrible to rape survivors, disabled women, other women who don't believe TWAW. They wanted to give away rights on all womens' behalf as they were the 'kind' ones and not the horrible 'ist, 'phobic bigots (who don't deserve rights anyway because fascists).

The same applies to women who are anti-abortion. They sell all our rights down the line just to be "good" women. Traitors, all of them. In the end they'll be disgarded like the rest of us. The approval they gain of men by pushing other women under a bus is conditional, but they refuse to see it.

@zibzibara

He's posted selfies of himself invading women's toilets, which is a pretty strong indicator that he intended to exhibit the same predatory behavior in his new workplace.

It isn't proof, though, is it?

JessaWoo · 21/11/2024 06:36

@NotBadConsidering

How is taking the action to preserve single sex spaces in her workplace “bigoted”? How is agreeing with her on that a sign someone is acting like someone who has had a lobotomy?

Because they are so firmly set in their partisan way of thinking, they are unable to to consider any other options or ideas. In this case, automatically agreeing with NM because she is supposedly attempting to preserve single-sex spaces, without ever considering her motives. Is achieving a goal worth it no matter how you get there?

@Snowypeaks

What bigotry is Mace displaying by sponsoring a bill to ensure that single sex women's toilets in the Capitol are for women and girls only?

She did it for political reasons only. Spare me the "ensuring the women's toilets are for women and girls only" as if Nancy Mace was keeping out a ten-foot tall predatory beast. This was little more than a publicity stunt. There is no proof that McBride even planned to use the women's facilities. As I said earlier, McBride has attended orientation at Congress this week, so it's more than likely Mace saw an opportunity to display some Republican bigotry and make a point. (And impress Trump at the same time.)

Well, it’s effective, isn’t it? She’s recognised that women DO want single sex private spaces. I expect her to be very successful

Explain clearly why single sex spaces are 'bigoted'.

It isn't the single sex spaces themselves that are bigoted - in this case, it's Mace's actions that are.

Yeah yeah women not wanting men in their spaces, especially men who take 'big game' photos when they are in there, are such bigoted meanies.

We've heard it all before. A gazillion times. Try a new tactic at least.

How are you behaving any differently from any trans person?

You want to be in the position to tell everyone else what they are with zero push back, but refuse to acknowlege that you are not the sole arbiter of what makes a person male or female.

The science is not settled, and I personally am fine living without absolutes.

What science is not settled?

PinkChesnut · 21/11/2024 05:47

FlirtsWithRhinos · 21/11/2024 00:57

And you are ok with your friend imposing their personal ideas about what type of thoughts make a person "a man" and what type of thought make a person "a woman" onto everyone else? You understand that when a trans person says they are "a man" or "a woman" because of some facet of their personality rather than the simple fact of their body and expects that others respect this self-declared identity not just politely but concretely, materially, in a way that directly affects others by allowing the trans person access to the resources and provisions of the sex they say they are, they do not just define themselves but also every other person who uses the words "man" or " woman" to name themselves?

You understand this and you are ok with this?

Wow.

I mean, I think the whole idea that if someone thinks a certain way they are "a man", and if they think a different way they are "a woman" is unbelievably sexist, but you do you I guess?

On what basis do you conclude this? People who believe in single sex spaces are somehow brain damaged?

Not at all. It's their eagerness to believe and promote any shiny bigoted thing that is waved in their face, even if it doesn't really stand up to basic scrutiny.

Like the concept of being born in the wrong body? Or that humans can change sex? Or stopping puberty forever for children is healthy? Or that men are included in the definition of “woman”?

Could you be more specific?

There isn't any proof that McBride intended to use the female facilities in exclusion of the other facilities.

The proof is the toilet selfies McBride has posted before.

That's not proof.

To some, it matters. To others, it doesn't.

I know a trans guy who is not on hormones and has not has surgery. He is comfortable as he is and has been out for over a decade. In his own words, "nobody else decides what I am and nobody can take who I am away from me based on their own perceptions."

Not every trans person needs every single treatment in order to feel good in their skin.

Why do we all have to have a lobotomy because one person has decided they are all the rage and has got one for themselves?

Yes, indeed - so many here appear to have had one.

JessaWoo · 21/11/2024 00:40

@RedToothBrush

So not only do Congress members have their own private facilities, but there is ALSO unisex facilities available.

The update now reads as if the intention of the bill is to seek to uphold single sex provision as single sex rather than be evil witches to transwomen. And the Democrats look even worse with this because they don't want to 'compromise' with the third space option as this isn't regarded as good enough.

If accurate it colours things slightly differently in terms of language being used and the context of the matter.

There isn't any proof that McBride intended to use the female facilities in exclusion of the other facilities.

The last few days have been orientation is Washington DC for new members of Congress, including McBride. Nancy Mace, being Nancy Mace, saw an opportunity and decided to go for the publicity. Given the response, she succeeded.
