So the IOC allowed a man to beat up women whilst millions watched.

Bastards!

Rightsraptor · 05/11/2024 21:59

Sharon Davies was just on Patrick Christys's show on GB News doing her usual sterling work 👏 on this.

kiterunning · 05/11/2024 19:56

Just squeezed it in before the election coverage.

The story is in The Mail now.

Oh, sorry, missed that you'd posted it already!

I would think pro boxing would actually be less regulated than the Olympics in this regard. It seems at least that PED testing is far from rigorous in this sport. Pro boxing would be more easily called entertainment. The betting market would probably appreciate a "woman" winning so often.

duc748 · 05/11/2024 15:10

No getting around some form of testing for pro boxers, though, surely? Betcha it never happens.

Shortshriftandlethal · 05/11/2024 15:08

I mentioned it earlier, not sure if it has been mentioned again...that Khelif is now seeklng to box professionally...presumably in the female category.

There's an article about it in the <drum roll> Indian Express

https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/imane-khelif-gold-paris-olympics-confirmed-as-a-man-in-leaked-medical-reports-9654188/

The Google algorithm has totally got my number.

As expected, the article gave no credit to Reduxx.

It’s so baffling why media outlets will report on stories that Reduxx do the work on but won’t always credit them….or is it baffling……🤨

Thanks for the link to the Cluster F podcast. The Rutherford episode was - taken in isolation - quite good. But added to the knowledge that he closes his eyes so firmly to his own bias (despite mentioning several times that he is priviledged because of his sex), it is infuriating. His cognitive dissonance must be off the scale.

annejumps · 05/11/2024 14:27

I feel like calling everything a "row" is dismissive. The number of times I've seen a UK publication being like "(Trans rights activist issues rape and death threats) in gender row" lol

Snowypeaks · 05/11/2024 14:13

And I bet they DM are calling him "she" in it even now that they know that they don't have to, even according to their code. Not that it's a trans issue anyway.

Would add that I do have a certain level of sympathy with IK on a personal level. I'm sure they probably were raised as a girl, they may still believe they are a woman on some level..it cant be easy being born with a deformed genitals or dsd anywhere but especially in cultures that have even more rigid gender stereotypes. As a pro athlete they may have been brainwashed and fed all sorts of bollox by the teams around them, for they are often not the brightest of buttons. This is a mess if the IOC's making. But what can female boxers do? An international boycott only harms women's boxing presumably and achieves what the patriarchy clearly wants which is females not boxing for sport. These women won't get another shot as they are in their prime now.

If I were being raised as a girl in a Moslem country and discovered as I entered my teens that actually I would be freed of the veil, allowed to mix more freely and probably educated better- well I’d be quite relieved.

His comfort with being carried on his coaches shoulders, and patted on the chest, training with men, and wearing shorts in front of the world’s media suggests he has adjusted quite well to the trauma.

Snowypeaks · 05/11/2024 12:28

That article is poor. You can report the symptoms of 5-ARD as much as you like, but if you she/her all the way through. people are still going to think that Khelif is a female with a DSD that makes IK look male.

HootyMcBooby · 05/11/2024 12:21

Hang on, but there was a photograph of him wearing earrings!
EARRINGS I tell ya!
How could he possibly be anything other than a bona fide card carrying woman?????

Sadly, this will not change many people's opinions. To many, Caster Semenya is still a poor persecuted woman with high testosterone, and woman can have XY chromosomes and lady penises.

I think there was a post upthread that quoted a source saying every time he sparred with women they would get injured so he sparred with male boxers.

No shit!!

I think this was a report from a female boxer or from a coach from a boxing 'training camp' in Spain where at the camp, each female boxer was injured. So the management stopped the bouts and instead Khelif boxed with the male boxers ... and none of the male boxers were injured.

MagpiePi · 05/11/2024 12:00

NoBinturongsHereMate · 05/11/2024 10:57

The other thing about the training video - it's not just his body shape and how he moves and acts. It's who he's with. He's running with men, sparring with men. A whole women's team went to the Olympics - why is he training with the men instead of the other women?

It won't resurface in the captured MSM like the BBC, Grauniad, Independent, because ideology.

Which is actually pretty chilling in itself. Perhaps the Telegraph will take it up?

It may not resurface in some outlets if they're afraid of losing accreditation at the next Olympics. Remember the IOC portrayal guidelines
https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Beyond-the-Games/Gender-Equality-in-Sport/IOC-Portrayal-Guidelines.pdf

Also remember that the 2028 Olympics are in Los Angeles, in the batshit US, in particularly batshit California.
