It's a shame that the issue has become so personalised in the figure of Khelif - but Khelif's management team know what they are doing and it is they that must take responsibility for the consequences.

Yes, it's a choice. Lin and his team kept pretty quiet and he has been almost forgotten already.

There but for fortune and all that...... 🤨

The furore at the Olympics has presented to them an opportunity to get rich and make money on the back of that controversy - and Khelif is having to pose for photos in female attire in order to maintain the illusion. We all know Khelif presents as male in every day life.

There will definitely be an audience prepared to pay good money to watch a male beating up a woman.

Why was he even going to the Oxford Union? Did his PR minders think it was another Vogue shoot? 🤷‍♀️

Mara's letter was brilliant. 🤩

Datun · 15/11/2024 11:19

I'm assuming the Oxford union could have refused to ask those questions.

Presumably they felt that a refusal to ask them would look just as bad.

SinnerBoy · 15/11/2024 11:10

Yes, isn't it just? Are the unforeseen circumstances that IK didn't realise that he'd be asked questions by people unsympathetic to him, I wonder?

BabaYagasHouse · 15/11/2024 11:00

Thanks so much Helleofabore
What a fantastic letter!!

Oh well now.

It was a cracking letter from Mara. And she raised the point that I have never yet seen answered on these threads. Why has this particular boxer been issued such prestigious invitations when other gold medalist boxers have not, now or in the past? The lack of symmetry in treatment of gold medalist female boxers is stark!

TheKeatingFive · 15/11/2024 10:16

I just read it on X. It's stellar.

lcakethereforeIam · 15/11/2024 10:09

Mara's letter is fantastic, particularly the last question about 'passport sex'.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/11/2024 10:07

Afraid of free speech it seems!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/11/2024 10:07

Khelif is no longer speaking

https://x.com/journalismseen/status/1857257717582234000

Imrane Khelif no longer to speak at the Oxford Union

@Telegraph quotes Mara Yamauchi letter urging Union to respect free debate

We’d written to Sky and the BBC with Khelif fact checks ahead of this now cancelled appearance, expecting interview bids.

Snowypeaks · 15/11/2024 09:56

Yes. But totally unsurprising. Great letter by Mara Yamauchi.

SinnerBoy · 15/11/2024 09:54

Pink News, eh? Shall we ask Stormfront for their views on Israel? They might be a bit more balanced.

N.B. - do NOT google Stormfront.

lcakethereforeIam · 13/11/2024 17:57

The Telegraph have a new article, Khelif was interviewed recently. Does not really add much but if anyone is interested

I am not one of those journalists who reinvent the news behind their desks, waiting for the lunch break, to gorge themselves on a delicious plate of spaghetti and “bufala”.

🤣

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/11/2024 19:05

And IK themselves.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/11/2024 18:49

Is that what he's suing for?

Sorry it's apparently Khelif's lawyer who said it was fake so that's who he is suing.

nauticant · 12/11/2024 17:06

You pick the most advantageous jurisdiction for your case. You demonstrate the strength of your case to the other side there. You then settle for all jurisdictions.

SoiledMyselfDuringSomeTurbulence · 12/11/2024 16:47

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/11/2024 16:40

He is now suing for libel himself after publications said his investigation was "fake news" .

Is that what he's suing for? Thanks for confirming. I wonder if he'd consider doing it in other jurisdictions too, since the comment would've been read elsewhere.

UtopiaPlanitia · 12/11/2024 16:44

I don’t blame him Eresh, his professional reputation as a journalist has been impugned by people who don’t care about the truth and are casting muck around for ideological reasons.
