Diva Magazine is sharing an open letter to Wes Streeting dated 15th October which asks him to disregard the Cass Report and reinstate access to puberty blockers for "trans children".

The link to the letter is available from this page (via the Transactual website link within it):

The usual suspects are signatories.... plus several members of the NHS and university lecturers. Readers are invited to add their name to the letter.

Open letter issued to Health Secretary by trans community

Over 100 individuals and organisations have issued an open letter to the Health Secretary criticising the Cass Review

And that's not to mention the suppressed report on the lack of evidence of a link with suicide that was reported yesterday.

Are they so far in their echo chamber they can't critically think any more?

Yes, there were many things that leapt out to me in the letter. That was one of the major ones.

Here's the link to the government doc which makes it clear that there has been no increase in suicides relating to the prescription of puberty blockers being stopped:

Another one that leapt out (there were so many 🤦‍♀️) was the assertion that trans people hadn't been involved in the Cass Review. Baroness Cass made it really clear that she talked to hundreds. She explains it all brilliantly in this Q&A with the Scottish parliament:

Review of suicides and gender dysphoria at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust: independent report

I think they're definitely over-egging the qualifications a bit. One person's put their MEng on, as if that carries any weight in this debate. Others have just put the university they studied at to make it look like they represent it, maybe they didn't complete undergrad, who knows? Another is a lecturer in criminology. It's very hard to take them seriously. Proponents of self-id giving themselves lots of big long important-sounding titles. Hmm... I wonder how many of them are really academics. There are definitely some on the list but perhaps not as many as it initially appears from so many people using the "Dr." title.

I want to sign it Dr. Bob Smith, BA, B(TEC), AS, A2, GCSE(hons), Cert. Attendance (100%), Mus (Grade 1). But I won't, of course, because I wouldn't want them to think they had more signatories.

I don't think it's anything to worry about either, Streeting will ignore.

I'm still marvelling at the fact that so many academics still stand for harming kids in the face of the evidence.

It's really not many at all in the grand scheme of things. 100 signatories is barely a drop in the ocean. I doubt Wes Streeting is going to pay it the slightest bit of attention. The Great Barrington Report got over 30,000 signatures including many self-declared health professionals (rightly or wrongly, I'm just using it as an example for the numbers) and was ignored because it didn't fit with what the proper reports said.

This is some who's-ever-heard-of-it two-bit "magazine" where the editor has got less signatories than the average person has FB friends. In absence of a proper verification process, some of those signatories could be the editor writing lots of different names to make it look more popular, although I'm not sure it's that hard to find 100 people in a country of 60+ million who agree with any given fringe ideology. Some of the lesser-known health professionals could well be people who self-identify as health professionals because they spend a lot of time at A+E. There'll be a handful of the usual suspects signing this, then the rest? Who knows.

I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. Wes Streeting probably doesn't even read "Diva Magazine". It doesn't sound like a very credible source.

Oh dear
What a list of experts; including the usual names! Unbelievable really

lifeturnsonadime · 25/10/2024 09:03

That's quite a list of signatories.

How are that many, seemingly intelligent people, still brainwashed? You'd think with the mounting evidence from the horses mouth (detransitioners) they would start to exercise more caution. But no. Still advocating for harming kids!

(some of) These are supposedly educated adults with jobs that the rest of us rely on to be discharged responsibly. They have an absolute responsibility to know what the fuck they are talking about. If they genuinely think Cass is flawed then they need to present the evidence they have for that, but it really needs to be much better than ‘I don’t like the outcome’

Ironically Diva magazine are also celebrating homophobic hate crime diva-magazine.com/2024/10/17/lets-talk-about-direct-action-in-the-fight-for-lgbtqia-rights/
