Diva Magazine is sharing an open letter to Wes Streeting dated 15th October which asks him to disregard the Cass Report and reinstate access to puberty blockers for "trans children".

The link to the letter is available from this page (via the Transactual website link within it):

https://diva-magazine.com/2024/10/17/open-letter-issued-to-health-secretary-by-trans-community/

The usual suspects are signatories.... plus several members of the NHS and university lecturers. Readers are invited to add their name to the letter.

Open letter issued to Health Secretary by trans community

Over 100 individuals and organisations have issued an open letter to the Health Secretary criticising the Cass Review

Interesting that not a single signatory had their own puberty blocked as a child.

All the usual suspects who transitioned later in life after fathering children.

It's chilling.

To be fair, few would recognise ButterflyH's RL name (I wouldn't) even if it were there.

Igmum · 26/10/2024 09:13

People working for trans charities and lobby groups, lunatic academics and parents of trans kids. A general shortage of members of the public.

Good to know about Hokoria though, I'd never heard of it either.

In the late 90s, when I was thinking that I might be lesbian but not ready to come out, I used to buy Diva every month.

And now look at it.

Pwahahaha - usual suspects - none of them should be working for the NHS

You've just reminded me, I didn't see Harrop on there (I may have skimmed too quickly).

Out of the first 5 signatories only one is a woman so I didn't bother looking further...

Seeing Neeves in the top 5 reminded me that I came across this in a different context.

Katie Neeves complained to the Independent Press Standards Organisation that the Daily Mail breached Clause 1 (Accuracy) and Clause 10 (Clandestine devices and subterfuge) of the Editors’ Code of Practice in an article headlined “The ten 'trans women' that Rowling dared to label as 'men'”, published on 2 April 2024.

https://www.ipso.co.uk/rulings/01576-24/

NB: IPSO investigated and concluded no breaches occurred.

On reflection, quite a number of the usual suspects are missing. E.g., Carmichael, Kelly, bloke whose name is now forever 'Man at bus stop,' India W etc.

IPSO also investigated a complaint by Aidan Kelly.

Aidan Kelly complained to the Independent Press Standards Organisation that Mail Online breached Clause 1 (Accuracy), Clause 3 (Harassment), and Clause 12 (Discrimination) of the Editors’ Code of Practice in an article headlined “Meet the doctors who doled out puberty blockers to a generation of vulnerable children, including a girl just because she liked Thomas the Tank Engine as a toddler - and how some are still offering the powerful drugs privately...”, published on 10 April 2024.

NB: IPSO investigated and concluded no breaches occurred.

I wonder what interest a doctor who lops tits off of heathy women and a woman who runs a company offering blood testing for "trans and non binary people" could possibly have in the medicalisation of children and young people with gender identity concerns?

(some of) These are supposedly educated adults with jobs that the rest of us rely on to be discharged responsibly. They have an absolute responsibility to know what the fuck they are talking about. If they genuinely think Cass is flawed then they need to present the evidence they have for that, but it really needs to be much better than ‘I don’t like the outcome’

Exactly, and without any scientific evidence I hope nobody in government will take these petitions seriously

”I think they're definitely over-egging the qualifications a bit”

Its all a bit Arnold J Rimmer BSc SSc

... and his revision timetable...

It's amazing how much can be delayed achieved by spending lots of time thinking about how things should be done. However, this letter highlights that we're past a tipping point in the UK where this approach will no longer work. Wes Streeting is in a position where he can ignore it and the public won't see that as controversial. Filibustering/procrastination won't work.

@BonfireLady Yes, me too. The base situation is horrific and I hope none of my comments have detracted from that, I have a very dark sense of humour sometimes and this open letter has just been the gift that keeps on giving today.

After all, as JKR wrote, the way to get rid of a Boggart trying to scare you with your worst fears is the Riddikulous spell, which makes it funny.

An easy solution presents itself....

Everyone on the letter needs to move to Hokoria (following the building of an extension if it is currently a single bedroom state).

Then the state declares the implementation of Cass unlawful as per the letter. They could even implement this approach to healthcare instead:

Ps I appreciate that there is a serious issue here. We're seeing a medical scandal, the scale of which is almost impossible to comprehend. We're going to see it continuing to unfold as more detransitioners come forward over the next few years.... some of whom are yet to even take an irreversible medical step but are on that pathway, supported by medical professionals and others 😢

My dark humour is how I keep myself from feeling overwhelmed by it all.

@StickItInTheFamilyAlbum When you put it that way, the open letter they've all signed is effectively them circulating their own list of... individuals for us all to see and recognise for who and what they are. What an own goal.

(I'm saying individuals here, but I encourage everyone to mentally insert a more accurate describing word as you see fit, I'm just no longer sure which words are allowed when describing a particular group).

I had a read to educate myself, thinking this might be a real place e.g. one of the islands of Micronesia, and it gets even better. The "state" (actually someone's bedroom in Yeadon by the sounds of it) was "founded" by the same person claiming to sign this open letter:

"Hokoria was founded on 11 March 2023, through the foundation of the Central Government of Hokoria, by Willow Cizdeizd I"

My day has just been made.

Self ID, ladies and gentlemen.

TRANS HEALTH MANIFESTO

INTRODUCTION Following the centuries-long repression of trans lives at the hands of the state, the next stage in the UK government's war of bureaucratic attrition is the recent publication of an NHS…

Interesting to see Dr Leigh Downes of the Open University on the list of signatories. Downes made quite a pitiful appearance in the Jo Phoenix employment tribunal and came across as a self-important, mean bully. Surprised Dr Downes is not keeping a low profile but I guess with that kind of reputation it doesn’t really matter anymore … that said, many of the usual academic names are not on there, I wonder if some came to their senses.

OMG! I had no idea that such a "state" existed....!

This letter (and now this thread 😂) really is utter madness.

Agree with everyone. Once you remove the men claiming to be women who are desperate that other people's children should be transitioned, the parents of some of these children unable to face their own complicity in the damage done to so many children plus all the self identified from "university of random bollocks" it's hard to see many with respected qualifications in the field of paediatric medicine / child psychology or safeguarding.

But it's an interesting exercise in how entitled these people are to expect medical care for children to be run according to their own niche ideological demands - no matter what the consequences for children are.

Ohfuckrucksack · 25/10/2024 10:36

In terms of 'bigging up' their qualifications I did a brief search on one with the NMC - have redacted name

states is: Psychiatric nurse (Children and Adult), trainee Psychodynamic Counsellor)

on the register is Registered nurse (adult) - therefore is not a qualified mental health nurse and does not have any specific qualification to work with children either.

It's quite possible they work in this area, beyond their registration - but this would generally be under the supervision of someone qualified in the speciality.

So yes, I believe some are 'self described'

I don't think it's anything to worry about either, Streeting will ignore.

Agreed. I the thread from a "look what's being said" (and who is putting their name to it) perspective.

It's fascinating to see what the power of belief - in this case, the belief that we all have a gender identity - can lead people to say. It's a charter that puts belief over medical evidence.... like something from centuries ago where we might expect to see doctors explaining how to identify possession by the devil. Only the "joke" is that it's happening today and there are professionals in the field of psychiatry and other medical professions who think it's important that it's said. Bonkers.

*I started the thread...

I was too late to catch that typo with the edit button.
