Yeah, this is a witch hunt.

https://transsafety.network/posts/trans-sports-individual-targeting/

"further investigation makes it clear that both Sex Matters’ sport advisor Mara Yamauchi and FWS Scotland are clear that the intention of this campaign is to catalogue members of a vulnerable minority in particular participating in women's sport in general.

A few days ago on October 1st, Mara Yamauchi said “do you know of males competing in the female category in sport? Please tell FWSSport and Sex Matters about them - who they are, which sports, how many positions, medals etc they've stolen from females & injuries they've caused”.

Following this up, FWS Sport campaign on Friday 4th October responded thanking one anonymous supporter calling for a hunt for “Warlocks lurking in our midst. Ladies, if you know of a dude trying to hide in plain sight in women's sport, pass it on!”

There can be absolutely no doubt — this is not a debate over sports governance and policy, this is a targeted campaign to draw up watchlists hunting members of a minority characteristic. The followers and supporters of these GC organisations clearly understand this from their response to the call to action and the organisations themselves are thanking people for carrying this witch hunt out."

Have you got anything from a reputable unbiased source without the hyperbole and bs waffle about a vulnerable group, when talking about the safest group in Scotland (no transfers transperson ever having been murdered in Scotland and are the least likely to be assaulted).
No I didn't think so

If your example was real, what info exactly would you pass on to FWSport, and how would you prove it (proof is needed, anyone can make anything up and FWSport can't legally store and process inaccurate data)? As trans is a protected characteristic (extra data protection rules will apply) are FWSport going to then ask the allegedly trans person for their consent to store their data?

What's stopping a group of LGBT people and allies sending FWSport a bunch of emails with made up shit about sports teams with trans members?

https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/lawful-basis/a-guide-to-lawful-basis/lawful-basis-for-processing/special-category-data/#:~:text=Special%20category%20data%20is%20personal,not%20have%20to%20be%20linked.

The UK GDPR singles out some types of personal data as likely to be more sensitive, and gives them extra protection:

personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin;
personal data revealing political opinions;
personal data revealing religious or philosophical beliefs;
personal data revealing trade union membership;
genetic data;
biometric data (where used for identification purposes);
data concerning health;
data concerning a person’s sex life; and
data concerning a person’s sexual orientation.
In this guidance we refer to this as ‘special category data’.

Where is the evidence that the protected characteristics of "gender reassignment" (because as you know ChristinaApple, "trans" is not a protected characteristic), has special, sorry "extra data protection rules"?

In my example I would give the name of opponents team, the game, the date, and the location where the game was held.

I would then expect that Sex Matters would collate this and report back to the relevant women's volleyball federation, something like "in 2024, we have had reports of # number of games where it is believed that a man played in a women's game. Please could you review your policies, based on evidence from studies relevant to your sport?"

And then I would expect the women's volleyball federation to ensure their policies are clear that the women's league is for women, so adult human females, and that males are not included. That is what I would like to see in the vast majority of sports.

Men are of course welcome to play in the men's volleyball teams.

Thanks ChristinaApple for making me check GDPR rules, I learned something new today. Maybe you will learn that "trans" is not a protected characteristic in the UK.

MRAs, like gender critical people, oppose trans rights. Often, it's hard to tell the difference.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 TRAs and MRAs are the same men

Trans rights activists are men's rights activists. The two groups have identical aims which is to attack and undermine women's rights. Personally, I think it's a shame that Mumsnet allows men's rights activists to come on a feminist forum and spew their vile and hateful views. It's a bit like allowing racists onto an anti-racist forum.

On the other hand it allows much debunking and counter-argument which I think is useful. It's almost like they are plants.

@EdithStourton I am not "lecturing women," I am disagreeing with gender critical people. Agreeing with you because you are a woman would be incredibly patronising. If a single woman on the Feminism forum asks me not to post, I will stop posting.

This is simply a doxing and harassment campaign designed to humiliate trans women. It's entirely possible to research and advocate your position without doing this.

OK. Happy to oblige.

Dear @DadJoke , please stop posting on thus forum board.
Go in peace

GailBlancheViola · 11/10/2024 15:42

This is not the goddamn Olympics.

Such a stupid statement, where oh where do Olympic competitors come from? From playing the sport from a young age at grass roots level, if that level is closed to them by dint of males taking female places what is the end result going to be? It does not take the intelligence level of Einstein to work that out.

I hope the statement from said poster that they will not post here anymore is sincere as it will save us all from the having to read and spend time and energy debunking that level of nonsense to say nothing of the relentless misogyny on display.

“do you know of males competing in the female category in sport? Please tell FWSSport and Sex Matters about them - who they are, which sports, how many positions, medals etc they've stolen from females & injuries they've caused”.

Sex Matters, from their official account want to “map the trans-identified males”

There has been some back-pedalling, but it’s clear this is a witch hunt - a targeted harassment campaign.

Most of them will just be volunteers running sports leagues, and Sex Matters and FWS are effectively encouraging people to go and harass and intimidate them.

This is despicable.

If 'most of them will just be volunteers running sports leagues...' then they will not be playing on women's teams or against women's teams, and nor will their involvement mean that an actual woman has lost a place in a team to a man.
So they would not meet the criteria FWS are seeking -- competing in the female category.

"If a single woman on the Feminism forum asks me not to post, I will stop posting."

I am another single woman and I ask you to stop posting on FWR. And echo others in that you do indeed 'lecture women', whether you intend to or not. That is the outcome.

And this:

"This is not the goddamn Olympics. People at a very low level are happily getting on playing badminton or football, no one is excluded, and FWS and SM are just stirring up hatred, because that's why they exist."

This above is an example of that 'lecturing' and it is misogynistic.

Male people can either play in with other male people or they can play in mixed sex team. Because even at grassroots level of sports, female people deserve to play fairly against only other female people if they choose. If they don't want to play against female people only, those female people too can play in mixed sex teams.

Your male dismissal of this is misogynistic. You have assumed that "People at a very low level are happily getting on playing badminton or football'. And we, who are women and who are involved in grassroots sports have been telling you for a very long time now, that it is a false assumption. Female people at grassroots are not 'happily getting on playing badminton or football', they are concerned about safety and fairness and you are dismissing them.

outdamnedspots · 11/10/2024 15:17

There is also the Gender Recognition Act where sports teams/clubs etc are not legally permitted to identify to anyone if they have a trans member. It's a protected characteristic, FWS cannot legally demand to know who is trans.

Really, @Christinapple ?? What about women's basic right to safely and fair play? Don't you think women should be told if they're going to be playing against a 20-stone man? 🙄

NitroNine · 11/10/2024 15:13

@slug I think @Christinapple has fundamentally misunderstood Special Category Data… in this instance, of course, “substantial public interest” & “standards of behaviour in sport” have them covered 🤷‍♀️

Igmum · 11/10/2024 14:55

@EdithStourton you are clearly a woman with super powers! Thank you so much. It's always awful when the FWR board discussions are disrupted by angry hectoring men who won't listen, won't answer questions, distort and misrepresent responses, lie and report other posters to the authorities. Thank you for making this board a nicer place.

Don't suppose you could use your wondrous powers on other posters too? I don't mind debate but it never is debate and it never is honest.

slug · 11/10/2024 14:52

"As trans is a protected characteristic (extra data protection rules will apply)"

That comment is, as we say in data protection land, a load of old cobblers. Thereis no such thing as extra data protection for those with protected characteristics.

I used to wonder at the research that suggested that wrong sex hormones led to a drop in IQ. I'm starting to see more and more evidence that this may, in fact, be the case.

GailBlancheViola · 11/10/2024 14:48

I respect your position, and will not post in the Feminism forum again.

That would be marvellous then we wouldn't have to put up with the following false, risible nonsense being posted time and time again:

There hasn't been a single statistical study showing heightened risks of injury or the effect on prospects of winning, and the vast majority of women's sport is trans inclusive, because that's what the women who organise the matches decide

Christinapple · 11/10/2024 14:46

SparklyPinkHairband · 11/10/2024 14:23

"gay or trans" conflating sexuality with identity again.
References please to the exact parts of law which prevent me from saying "I went to a game of the local women's volleyball team, and their opponents allowed a man (ie adult human male) to play on their team, he played as their libero."
Mind, I have no interest in this man's sexuality. I object to him playing in the women's volleyball team.

"ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO reveal if someone is trans"

Yes it is. Any sports team or club who reveals to anyone if any of their members are gay or trans are breaking the law. And if it does happen I hope the police will be investigating this.

"FWS is trying to establish which sports teams and organisations are throwing women"

By asking the public "tell us what you know". And as I mentioned earlier there's the other concern of how will FWSSport verify the accuracy of the information they receive. I can't see how they can do this without themselves or others breaking the law or becoming stalkers?

MRAs and TRAs both place the feelings of men above the material reality of women's lives.

They may differ on trans-related issues:
All TRAs are MRAs.
Not all MRAs are TRAs.

All MRAs oppose women's rights. They hate women, especially feminist women (the kind who don't pander to men or think it's women's job to put themselves second to male wishes at all times, can spot an abusive male at 50 paces, and think they and other women are perfectly entitled to say no to them) and minimise any attacks on them.

The funny thing is, MRA rhetoric sounds exactly like transactivists'. Since, regardless of outfit, they are all mostly heterosexual males, from a feminist perspective, these pretty much are the exact same people, they have the same views of women(the actual female kind) and which women they hate and wish to subjugate. They even use the same misogynistic threats to do so. They are all misogynistic men. Truly pathetic stuff.

The second quote was from the official Sex Matters account, and the first from a senior Sex Matters worker,

It's a doxing campaign - they want people to contact these small clubs and name the transgender people who play there.

It's not "research". They are asking people to report anonymously. There are ways of doing research ethically. This is not one of them. This is like the EDL asking people to report "non-white" players for "research purposes." I have no doubt we'll get pictures and names of the victims on social media, and they'll be subject to harassment.

Who exactly do you think they will be contacting to get this information? The volunteers who run the clubs. "Are any of your badminton players transgender, or have they ever been transgender?"

This is not the goddamn Olympics. People at a very low level are happily getting on playing badminton or football, no one is excluded, and FWS and SM are just stirring up hatred, because that's why they exist.

This is like the EDL asking people to report "non-white" players for "research purposes."

No, it's not, because sports do not have race categories. Sports rightly and reasonably have sex categories. What FWS are trying to do here is document cheating in the form of men competing in the women's sex category.

hihelenhi · 11/10/2024 14:14

Also the report-happy authoritarianism, the denial, the CONSTANT projection (not to mention the not-wanting-of-people-to-find-out-the-facts) of the average TRA and their average white-knighting anti-woman MRA ally is on full display here.

Fantastic work as ever, chaps! #listentotranspeople

@EdithStourton I respect your position, and will not post in the Feminism forum again.

If that is the case, then thank you.

I'm not usually one for excluding men, but sometimes it's really rather pleasant to be allowed to formulate our own ideas from our perspective with our own needs at the centre. ESPECIALLY on a forum aimed at women, and ESPECIALLY on FWR and ESPECIALLY when the man in question uses GC people of 'harassing' transwomen, It shows in glaring Technicolor that the person in question doesn't see just how much women feel harassed by the whole trans agenda.

Greyskybluesky · 11/10/2024 14:01

But surely the response to this will be "zero" ?

Because... TWAW
Or are TW not W, but male?
...confused

duc748 · 11/10/2024 13:59

If there was any truth or logic in these ridiculous claims, who thinks SM and FWS would have already considered this, and taken appropriate legal advice, and who thinks they are just silly women, too stupid for the thought to have occurred to them?

Christinapple · 11/10/2024 13:54
