What have I just read?

"His crush would bring some spare clothes to school so he wouldn’t have to wear a dress. His teachers would pull him aside and lecture him on conforming to gender norms and say that what he was doing was ‘toxic’. “I was shamed by my English teacher. She said I was setting a bad example for other LGBTQ kids,” he explained."

You know when you read something an think "how can this be real" and then you think about Susie Green and Jazz's parents and David Tennant and think, of course this is happening to some of these kids.

Quite possibly it is a fake story but I can absolutely believe this happens to some children.

Susie Green is a well known example.

It's easy to think things are true because they fit the opinions we already have. Or to think "even if this isn't true stuff like this happens so it might as well be true". But then it's a slippery slope to "they are eating cats" or "red states are locking trans people in concentration camps".

I don't think this article is true.

His mother covered him in glitter make up, and made him wear fishnet leggings with a shiny hot-pink dress and a matching bow tie in his hair. “It didn’t feel I was going to school, it felt like I was going for an audition,” Lucas expressed.

Really? You think this is real? Highly doubtful.

This sounds fake tbh. Like this bit where the an interview is mentioned:

She even gave an interview to a popular news magazine where she discussed the abuse they allegedly suffered through with her Australian ex-husband.

But no details of which magazine or when it was published. Made to fit the narrative but not enough info given to look it up and verify.

It's an older story, and like I said, it may not be real but at the same time...

It's a slippery slope isn't it? It becomes real for a lot of these kids once they've made that initial decision to say they have been born in the wrong body. With a misguided zealot parent, suddenly they will be on a conveyer belt that they can't turn back from. Especially as the way that these kids are told to insist emphatically that they are 💯 sure of being born in the wrong body.
How can they then say "actually I just did it for attention?" "I did it because my friend was." "I did it because I picked my gender identity like I was picking a Hogwarts House, I did a quiz on Buzzfeed."

It may be fake. But it's rapidly becoming real for these kids on the conveyor belt.
