That was one of them, but before Elon took over women on twitter created a couple of dedicated sites that collected1000s of the death threats, and I can assure you, they were far worse than the ones in the Medium article, genuinely demonic.

Re: no death threats agains the "harry potter woman", there is a site chock full of receipts, but for some reason I can't find it. Instead I'll link to this, which injects welcome humour into a grim situation:

It was this one I think:

So its not a credible threat because

its a childs drawing
its a crayon drawing
its really hard to get hold of a guillotine

gotcha

And Linehan's threat isn't credible because

-he said "durr" in the tweet.

gotcha? He was also perma-suspended for that threat and would have remained so if it wasn't for Elon Musk coming along and deciding twitter shouldn't have things like bannings or moderation.

And what about the sexual threat he made against a trans woman about dragging her by "her kinky boots" (linehan's wording)?

@RainWithSunnySpells, it's called a ticker and please do. I like being mentioned in stuff.

The sign said "TERFs", not women. Men can be "TERFs" too as stated like Linehan or Musk.

Where on earth would one buy a guillotine anyway? ebay? And what if people don't want to put their heads into it? And how would you carry or transport one since they are heavy and like 30ft tall? It raises logistics and practicality Qs if you think about it.

I've seen actual threats however on twitter and the TERF forum kiwifarms I would see cause for concern that the police should investigate.

Christina, you can't seriously think men like Musk et al are feminists. Remember what the F in terf stands for.
The guillotine is an implied threat, not a literal threat. It's saying; "Violence could happen to you and I'd be happy to do it if you don't do what I want."
IMO it's not a particularly credible threat (it's more like a creepy blowhard mouthing off) and could not be criminally charged as such because it's not aimed at any particular person, but why on earth would you try to defend something so vile by minimizing.

Of course JKR gets threats. Every outspoken, well known female public figure gets death threats and rape threats, even more so if they are terfs because they have left wing whackos after them in addition to right wing whackos. Hell, I've had them myself, even though I was completely anonymous, just because I ran a political forum and was outspoken on it. They tried to find out who I was IRL and said they would do terrible things, even threatened to kill my kids.
This is what life is like for "difficult" women who refuse to suck up to men and keep quiet.
Yes, of course LGBT people get threats as well.
There is no shortage of evil fuckers out there with hatred for a multitude of groups.

Don’t be mean, Oak. I’m sure they want us decapitated in a nice inclusive being-kind way.

Like the kind gulags

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6154777/amp/Goldsmiths-student-group-mounts-extraordinary-defence-notorious-GULAG-worker-camps.html

Goldsmith LGBTQ originally Tweeted: 'The ideas of TERFS and anti-trans bigots literally kill and must be eradicated through re-education.'

After criticising the post, Ms Graham received a response from LGBTQ Goldsmiths saying 'we'll just arrange to have you sent to the gulag' followed by a smiling emoji.

The astonishing attempt to justify the remark was immediately met with a wave of criticism from experts who pointed out that the worker camps were a way to imprison and kill anyone who dared to speak out against Stalin's Russia.

I propose use of 🍎 in FWR to indicate “what-about-ery”. Seems apt, especially after this thread.

Cameron Allan. Allegedly the same Cameron Allan who tortured, raped and murdered 24-year-old Calum Simpson, a father and stepfather whose daughter had just been born.

"After his arrest for the murder Allan was freed on bail by a sheriff, went on to commit further crimes and is also accused of holding up a sign at a protest saying he wanted to cut people’s heads off." - Daily Record, 21/07/2024.

But please, keep going. There will be plenty of lurkers on this thread reading all this and thinking 'Fuck me, the gender critical side are right after all. Trans activists really don't care about violence towards women'.

Yes. I am one of those lurkers, and this is exactly---- how this is coming across.

You are correct, trans activists really don't care about violence towards women, in fact they are often the instigators of violence against women. I was once a lurker too, a few years ago.

I have read many threads and also watched video clips where trans activists are screaming and hurling abuse at women, some of them were also violent towards the women. The banners and posters which the T.A. wave around have nasty messages written on them, threatening death, decapitation, or 'suck my d*', that kind of thing. The women were sometimes hemmed in wherever it was that they had all met up, with no way of escape, at times they were chased, having to take safety within a shop. I have noticed that the police presence was often as good as nothing regarding the women's safety in a public place.

That was all I needed to see (and read) about what was going on. I made my mind up pretty quickly, after a few visits to this forum, regarding the rights and wrongs and how dangerous it had become for women and girls in single sex spaces.

It can affect your mental health in a bad way when you realise exactly what is going on. I can't thank the women enough who brave these threatening crowds, along with everyone else who contributes in their own way to fight for our rights to single sex spaces... once again.

DeanElderberry · 19/09/2024 20:05

but you shouldn't have mentioned arses, that was so unladylike, terribly offensive language, most upsetting to his delicate sensibilities.

Remember:

decapitation, fine and dandy

arses, appalling

lcakethereforeIam · 19/09/2024 19:46

It was me that couldn't be arsed. Anyway as the links they'd supplied didn't work, I asked if it was the 'durr' post. All they had to say was 'yes', or 'no'. They didn't have the curtesy to answer a simple question. So I thought I'd indulged the pp enough.

The topic was quickly changed when I gave evidence of a man with gender critical views threatening violence towards women and trans women.

Funny.

You are talking absolute nonsense. You didn't include the post that Glinner was responding to and somehow seem to have completely missed the 'Durrr' indicating it was mocking the claim in the post.
It is the very first word in the sentence so hard to miss.
Do you actually believe in what you're saying to us?

Also, I suspect that part of the reason the publishing industry has gone full on trans activist loony tunes is because basically every author is jealous of JKR and many of them would like to see her brought down to size.

Catiette · 19/09/2024 19:13

@Christinapple

The threats of violence against JKR and decapitate TERF signs are horrendous.

Lineham's comment was also, in my view - while pretty standard idiomatic language that wouldn't usually be taken as an actual threat - still really inappropriate and unsettling to see on a written public forum like Twix.

The death threat you received was shocking, and I'm so sorry to hear that.

All these things can be true, and all should be acknowledged.

Waitwhat23 · 19/09/2024 19:00

Death threats are dreadful. You could certainly contact the BBC. But I mean, there's probably articles about JRK because of the amount of rape and death threats she's had. Enough to 'paper her house' I believe.

It's a weird fascination that TRA's have about JKR being a billionaire. 1. She's not - she's given such a fuck tonne of money to charities including rape crisis services that she's merely a millionaire. 2. Is it a woman having her own money, that she made herself, that gets up TRA's noses so much?

'Can't be arsed'

Did you quote someone else by accident? I didn't say that.

I think what really winds them up - beyond the usual misogyny - is the fact that she's not just rich, she's so mind bogglingly, in your face, fuck you rich that she never ever has to work again, that even if she did never work again she'd still be earning more money than she knows how to spend through royalties, and that's what gives her the power to speak up against this. Because nearly everyone else has a mortgage and bills to pay and they just can't afford to lose their livelihood by pointing out that the emperor is stark bollock naked.

And then to add insult to injury, not only will she not fucking shut up and they cannot make her fucking shut up, but she's still writing books and having her work adapted into films and TV series and computer games and people are still fucking buying them. Why are people still fucking buying her work? Haven't they got the message?

Even thirty something non binary millennials who are you to their eyeballs in preferred pronouns are still fucking buying Hogwarts Legacy and then making apologetic donations to trans charities to try and offset their terrible crimes because they love Harry Potter so much.

No wonder the trans activists are fucking raging. She's unsilenceable and uncancellable.

Ironically I think the fact that these American 35 year old babies sheep millennials love Harry Potter so much contributes to the amount of slagging off they do. Because they know they'll be social pariahs if they don't hate JK Rowling but they still love Potter, so they have to say, "Obviously JK Rowling is a hateful bigot and I'm so disappointed that she turned out to be Voldemort" in some public act of verbal self-flaggelation before they're allowed to continue to enjoy Potter.

I mean, they could just fucking grow up and find some new books, but there we have it.

Christinapple · 19/09/2024 18:49

I received a death threat just last week from a racist who thought I was Indian (I'm not) because I spoke up against the racism currently happening on Twitter.

Where's my BBC article? Or do you need to be a billionaire to get one?

"Can't be arsed."

Is this the gender critical reply when evidence is provided they don't want to hear?
