The ludicrous Sam Fowles is at it again

Comical self owning barrister Sam Fowles has written another article about how terrible gender critical women are.

https://www.politics.co.uk/comment/2024/09/15/the-summer-that-exposed-the-anti-trans-movement/

"...In April the Cass Report gave a veneer of scientific legitimacy to the GC movement’s various claims. Both Labour and the Conservatives used the report as justification to prevent trans children from accessing puberty blockers (which, contrary to popular myth, do not prevent puberty but, rather, delay its onset). Cis children are still given accessss_. The report was swiftly rejected by medical bodies around the world."^

Was it now.

"...The events of the summer exposed the GC movement as, in the words of UN Womenen, an “anti-rights movement” which “puts the rights and lives of LGBTQI+ people at risk by… falsely portraying the rights of LGBTIQ+ people as competing with women’s rights.” In the UK, the movement has never achieved genuine popular appeal (despite near constant coverage, most voters polleded say they simply aren’t interested). Labour must consider whether, so early in its term, it wants to be seen as influenced by (what has now been revealed as), an extreme, fringe group.

Joey Barton, WTF 😂😭😂⚽️😂

UtopiaPlanitia · 17/09/2024 22:52

It is such a useful word. I’ve no idea who coined it but I’ve picked up its use from listening to Glinner who uses it quite a bit.

It’s nice to think that as Jolyon steps down from beclowning himself on this subject via the use of alternative facts, Sam will step in to take his place and take up his methods. Nature is healing 😏

As an aside, whoever coined 'beclowning' is a bloody genius.

It's beautifully accurate and, at the same time, deliciously offensive.

Igmum · 17/09/2024 20:16

The English public school system has a lot to answer for here methinks.

And thank you Andrew Doyle. I enjoyed those snippets

Luxury beliefs galore, our Sam.

Is Mr Sam quite well? I don’t see how his centre can hold for much longer.

He is utterly utterly obsessed.

Sam is an exceptionally privileged man, who should stay in his lane.

spannasaurus · 17/09/2024 15:42

According to his chambers website

Sam Fowles is a public lawyer with a particular interest in constitutional, administrative, information, and planning/environmental law, inquests, and public inquiries. He has appeared in many of the leading matters of recent years including Miller/Cherry v The Prime Minister, Hamilton v Post Office, and The Liberal Democrat Party/Scottish National Party v ITV. He has appeared at every level of tribunal, including the Supreme Court

StainlessSteelMouse · 17/09/2024 15:32

I suppose it takes a certain level of intelligence to qualify as barrister in the first place, but sometimes I wonder.

Maybe Sam has an area of law that he's expert in, like Jolyon with tax. Because his interventions on this issue always remind me of a Bart Simpson book report.

He's a classic example of how promoting this ideology makes people look like incoherent clowns. Grin

He also said there's no evidence that Khelif wasn't female!

I have to say, trans ideology is the litmus test to end all litmus tests.

He also thinks Judith Butler is a feminist icon.
There are no words.
Partly because Judith's used them all.

I think he's at least in part deliberately misrepresenting gender critical women to suit his agenda (for grifting purposes?). But I agree he's been stitched up by Andrew Doyle several times, so he's not the sharpest, despite being a barrister.

Joey Barton really tickled me. I mean, come on Sam. Do better.

StealthSpinach · 17/09/2024 09:46

He seems remarkably uninformed about reality! How can he be taken seriously when he can’t even correctly define “gender critical”? Honestly, it just shows how ignorant he actually is…

Andrew Doyle has interviewed him a couple of times, and exposed him in such a beautiful and civilised fashion. Brought up his libel of Maya Allison and more in this one, with Toby Young

s

Having listened to that, I would really like to ask Sam Fowles if he thinks he should be held to account for saying things that are untrue.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/09/2024 23:28

Relevant thread as Sam is claiming we lose a lot of cases

Unfortunately he is

that's what I have been asking. How can anyone who spouts wall to wall bollocks actually be a bona fide barrister?
