"Irene Montero brought this man to us in 2022 so he could teach us good practice in rape crisis centres"

What? As in "Everything he says and does, do the opposite"?

A good day for Scotland!

It was great to read more about JK Rowling's aid to women in funding/creating 'Beria's place'. What a strong and compassionate woman she is.

I totally agree - and apologies if this comes across as pedantic or has been corrected further down the thread, but the spelling here is very important. It’s Beira’s place.

Beria, on the other hand, was a Soviet politician and head of the secret police in the Stalinist era who used his position to rape many young women and girls, some of whom were murdered.

JFC.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/09/2024 13:25

Apparently Wadhwa was invited to Spain by controversial government minister Irene Montero

A este señor nos lo trajo Irene Montero en el año 2022 para que nos enseñara buenas prácticas en los centros de crisis para mujeres víctimas de agresiones sexuales

@spannasaurus after the interview but before publication I believe

Yes, another one:

'After hearing that this piece was planned, I opted to email them my views (off my own back[sic]) and it's inappropriate to suggest that I was in anyway influenced to do that. I'm angry at the weaponisation of my voice. @ JKRowling this is shameful.'

Miss J on X.

No explanation as to how they heard the piece was planned.

Smells like Billingsgate Fish market on a very hot day.

See previous comments about human shields and wondering about the motivations and drivers of people who voluntarily (?) behave in this way…

It constantly seems to be self-sacrificial women and typically in the service of the indefensible and/or men (which, in/directly, this is for both).

spannasaurus · 17/09/2024 13:05

Thank you @ArabellaScott
So not people showing support after having read the article .

Were the supporting emails received within 1/2 of publication or within 1/2 of the interview (before publication)?

'I have been made aware you are running a piece ... I encourage you to include the voice of survivors ... '

Before publication, by the sound of it.

Taken from an email sent to Jennifer (journalist) from 'Miss J'.

INeedAPensieve · 17/09/2024 11:10

Jesus wept.

I really despair of the SNP. Emma roddick, do you have any soul??? To bleat about poor MW after all that was done as if they are having a hard time compared to actual rape and sexual assault survivors? Ah I'm so angry... Wtf SNP honestly 2026 cannot come soon enough to get these psychos out

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/09/2024 11:09

Indeed, @UtopiaPlanitia

Why are they giving me the impression that they really believe that misgendering (ie correctly sexing) someone is a far worse issue in their eyes than their treatment of rape survivors or their treatment of Roz Adams?

Defiance. They can't tolerate it.

And viewing the world through that Oppressor/Oppressed power dynamics mindset which means that only the person with the most oppression points (as per current year 'progressive' thinking) is allowed to have your support and sympathy.

Thinking that it’s the actual female rape victims in the situation who should receive support and consideration is so old-fashioned </sarcasm>

Yes, just posted that on the AIBU thread.

John Naples Campbell is a TRA teacher who performs drag in school as Miss Lossie Mouth.

Whats Miss Lossie Mouth a pun of?

Anastomosisrex · 17/09/2024 09:50

And also because there is a sex based difference in their perception of the humanity of the people involved. Men not being respected submissively obeyed is far worse than the actual illtreatment of women.

Side bar: If Rowling posting a quite justifiable noticing of evidence on Twitter is an 'attack', then posting this dismissal of traumatised women probably counts in the modern over dramatic nonsense framing as at least 'cannibalism' or something.

I imagine because it is exactly what they believe.

Seriestwo · 17/09/2024 09:15

When the issue is one of sex, Mridul Wadhwa is male and was appointed to a job which is for females. Gender is irrelevant and we can’t resolve the issues in women’s services without correctly sexing staff in discussions.

Roddick has learned nothing. Which is a bit of a worry given how damning everything written about ERC has been. Perhaps she is a bit dim.

RainWithSunnySpells · 17/09/2024 09:01

'... the misgendering is sick'

Why are they giving me the impression that they really believe that misgendering (ie correctly sexing) someone is a far worse issue in their eyes than their treatment of rape survivors or their treatment of Roz Adams?

They make a mountain out of a pretend molehill and then bleddy ignore the actual mountain that they have spent years adding rocks to.

The woman who described working with SB says she had asked to be notified about news articles (a gap in the story omits that Brindley must have informed her) and then she posted the news on some kind of group chat thing.
