Pretty scathing. Wadhwa cannot stay surely?

That BBC article is not at all bad, compared to how this might have been reported just a year or so ago.

Phrases like "no reason why transgender people could not work in rape support centres, but that services must also provide women-only spaces" occur several times in the article and imply the obvious truth that transwomen are not women.

Seriestwo · 19/09/2024 17:49

reads like she plagiarised the Narc’s Prayer to me.

ArabellaScott · 19/09/2024 17:49

Not standing down.

Wait, let me go and get my surprised face out.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 19/09/2024 17:42

Hardly surprising though. She is lying through her teeth about her job and responsibilities but anyone who believes or follows TWAW are liars from that alone.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 19/09/2024 17:40

@RedToothBrush so basically the sorry, not sorry, anyway it’s not my fault defence and i bet she’s only doing this because her trustees have made her

Acknowledging that Ms Wadhwa's appointment had been controversial, Ms Brindley said: "I was not involved in that appointment or that decision. But what I would say is that most rape crisis centres in Scotland provide support to men, women, trans people and non-binary people.

"There is no inherent reason within that, that you could have a trans person working within a rape crisis centre.

"I think what is crucial however, is that if you do have a rape crisis service, that is supporting all survivors is that there's dedicated women-only spaces within that."

Ms Brindley added she "absolutely recognised" that women-only spaces were a priority for many women using rape support services.

AND

The report also said there was "evidence that the actions of some ERCC staff had caused damage to some survivors", and that concerns had been raised that some women were "excluding themselves from approaching Rape Crisis Centres including ERCC" because of their aproach to gender identity.

Ms Ling also said she had been made aware that some professionals had heard that "some survivors did not feel safe using the centre".

After the report was published, Rape Crisis Scotland said it would pause referrals to ERCC - though people can still self-refer - until it was happy the review recommendations had been put in place.

Ms Brindley said she knew nothing of issues at the centre until October last year.

She said she then advised the ERCC board to settle the case rather than proceeding with the employment tribunal and acknowledged she should have been aware of the conflict sooner

Ms Brindley added there had been "significant failures" at the ERCC and she hoped to introduce a "robust framework of assessment" to make sure the national standards are followed and that women-only spaces are provided in future

So right let me get this straight. Some author found out about issues at ERCC and had time to set up a completely new service but the head of Rape Crisis Scotland was completely unaware of the issues at ERCC and why Beira's Place had been set up?

What the fuck was she doing? Snoring at her desk? And that letter in the Scottish Parliament archive? She wasn't present at that meeting? Despite her partner and her actual body being there.

Are we seriously supposed to accept this account?

Sandy Brindley, who has blue eyes, sandy-coloured hair in a long bob, and purple lipstick, looks into the camera.

Charity boss' apology to rape survivors over support centre row

A rape support centre in Edinburgh, run by a trans woman, had not provided women-only spaces for 16 months.

Won't happen. Its the political opposition. You don't give the opposition a victory!

Calls to resign need to come from 'her team'. Not the Cons.

Thats how fucked in the head this is.

Ages of current directors/trustees are 29,36,43,43 and 50

Decent spread of age and (hopefully?) experience for RCS there.

That's RCS not ERCC

ERCC's trustees were all very young and seemed quite inexperienced at the Tribunal iirc. I wonder how RCS's board looks.

During the tribunal, it certainly looked if they had been chosen because they were young and inexperienced.

Trustees, I guess.

The Trustees and Non-Executive Directors.

People are routinely asked to step aside (if they've not already done this voluntarily) for the potential risk to reputational harm. It's extraordinarily that this has been allowed to continue for so long. I'd expect her to have given this up voluntarily ahead of the report publication but I keep forgetting that Nolan isn't for senior people and those that exist in the culture of immunity and impunity.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/09/2024 12:02

Who has the power to get rid of her/force her to resign?

Trustees, I guess.

CocoapuffPuff · 18/09/2024 12:27

I don't believe she'll walk voluntarily. She believes she was right. These holy-rollers of the gender movement cling on, like ticks. They need to be unscrewed (clockwise or anti-clockwise, both work) at the head.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 18/09/2024 12:08

Not a chance will Sandy Brindley go voluntarily.

Interesting article in the Edinburgh evening news, especially in terms of reference to MW's status

I like that article, it's very direct.

"Irene Montero brought this man to us in 2022 so he could teach us good practice in rape crisis centres"

What? As in "Everything he says and does, do the opposite"?

Quite.

Or so that women's rape crisis services could be entirely reframed to serve the wishes and agendas of men interested in gender ideology and their followers. If that was the aim, they were very successful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 17/09/2024 14:16

From what I've seen, she and her supporters are on a par with SNP support for "trans rights" so I'm sure she thought it was excellent.
