Shocked to see this thread on X about children protesting at DfE and planning to stay out all night asking for random adults to go and provide “protection”.

So many questions.

This is their list of demands from the X thread, in case some don’t have accounts…

They CONSTANTLY demand external validation of their identities. They are trying very hard to make it a crime NOT to validate their identities.

That was 'under a previous government' and was merely under consultation so never came into force. We're now no further than we were in getting any guidance as we have a new government.

Yes - but it's still a legal consultation from the DfE so the government will have to decide what to do. Doing nothing is not an option for them.
I'm hoping that Cass and their unexpectedly child safeguarding centred approach to puberty blockers means that they're finally understood they're on the wrong side of history in relation to children and transitioning. But i may be wrong.

Are you thinking about the KCSIE guidance that is live from 1st September?

I'm still nervously expecting it to be pulled at any moment, similar to the last minute rug-pulling on the Freedom of Speech Act for higher education.

We're not out of the woods yet. I'm hoping there is no announcement tomorrow 🤞🤞 It's the only active guidance that is in place, or is imminently about to be. Everything else has been mothballed.

Hopefully school leaders are busy working out their reverse ferret moves and will be delivering updated safeguarding training, based on the new guidance, during the inset days that many schools will have next week 🤞🤞..... and hopefully they are at least thinking about how it links to the draft Gender Questioning Children and Cass Report documents that are referenced within it 🤞🤞

No - I'm talking about the draft guidance on gender questioning children:

Scentedjasmin · 29/08/2024 18:44

Well, they'll get a shock when a couple of strapping six foot tall bearded mothers show up and start flashing their cocks at them. Then perhaps they will start to understand the issues.

But there's barely anything in that? It refers schools to the trans guidance which is still 'under consultation' so god knows what is happening there.

Indeed.

But it's all that left in schools from the work that was done under the previous government. It's better than nothing at all as, crucially, it differentiates LGB (no safeguarding risk, other than standard risk of being bullied by other children) from T, where it explains that, according to the Cass Report, a child being "gender questioning" may be a sign of wider vulnerabilities and complex mental health needs. Also it mentions autism and ADHD as complicating factors. This provides a chance to change how these children are safeguarded, because under the previous guidance T was managed exactly the same way as LGB.

Agreed. It's interesting to see what the government will do with this. The principles (anti bullying etc) are good. But the details are a mixed bag - unsurprisingly as the DfE, Ofsted, the unions etc have been relentlessly pushing trans ideology at children for some years and are completely mired in culpability for what's happened to them. So it was never going to be easy to write something that allowed legions of reverse ferreting while centring safeguarding children from the mess this all is.

Well that sounds like most of us as teenagers.

Wish I could find the poster who personified trans rights as stamping it's feet, going to it's room and slamming the door.

And then asking what's for dinner.

I’m a bit confused, what are they protesting at the DfE for? One of their signs says ‘End the ban’ which I assume means the ban on puberty blockers but that’s nothing to do with the DfE. Why aren’t they outside the Dept for Health?

Is it because they are were transed at school by a Mx Nun Binary?

I wonder if they're trying to get the guidance dropped? The one for schools that the tories were bringing in.

@quantumbutterfly
You are very welcome - they do incredible work. The BBC even managed to write about them using the words men & women when discussing the high rate of the latter being assaulted by the former 😱

There is 24 hour manned security at DfE. And a Pret around the corner.
I'm sure they will be fine.

I've just looked at their insta and the emotional support dogs have turned up so I think you're right 😁

Well, quite

The trouble is, there is nothing to stop this individual, or any other, from offering some kinds of legal services, including (per Legal Services Board website) "providing legal advice or assistance in connection with the application of the law or with any form of resolution of legal disputes and providing representation in connection with any matter concerning the application of the law or any form of resolution of legal dispute".

You would think that people would undertake due diligence before seeking advice from any source. But there will be those who only want advice that backs their wishes / ideology and will only turn to "allies", however dubious others might think them.

Yes. See also: accountancy, bookkeeping, counselling, therapy, psychotherapy, nutritionist, psychology. I could be wrong about the last one because the HPC has some role in certifying chartered psychologists in various specialities, but I don't think there's anything in place to prevent someone with a psychology degree, or for that matter a passing interest in psychology, calling themselves a psychologist and trading on it.

I think if they are so frightened of men (I gather that’s who they need protection from), identifying as one may cause them a few problems going forward.

Sure, but if you want to practise as a lawyer does this show integrity? What legal services does an undergraduate have to offer?
