Major - American Society of Plastic Surgeons - evidence for gender surgery on children low quality

Big news the US medical situation is changing before the first detrans court cases hit.

A Consensus No Longer
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons becomes the first major US medical association to challenge the consensus of medical groups over “gender-affirming care” for minors.

But the U.S. consensus now appears to have its first big fracture. In July, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a major medical association representing 11,000 members and over 90 percent of the field in the U.S. and Canada, told me that it “has not endorsed any organization’s practice recommendations for the treatment of adolescents with gender dysphoria.” ASPS acknowledged that there is “considerable uncertainty as to the long-term efficacy for the use of chest and genital surgical interventions” and that “the existing evidence base is viewed as low quality/low certainty.”

Said the same thing again:

President of leading plastic surgeons org says evidence doesn’t currently support gender surgeries for minors
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons president stated, 'We feel that additional work and evidence needs to be provided to support gender-affirming care in adolescents'

ASPS stands by its statement that there more data is needed before it can support the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgery for minors.

Mermaids 'we don't do medical advice' for example.

Class action could encompass a wide range of organisations.

My worry is if the NHS is sued. We can’t afford to pay. In the US it’ll be insurance companies paying: over here, it’s us.

Presumably the compensation for this will be massive? Children sterilised before / during puberty. Life long incontinence, osteoporosis, limited sexual function - not to mention the predicted impairment of brain development. These are potentially huge sums.

It seems the victims will have masses of evidence of medical malpractice and failure to safeguard, not just post Cass but all the queer theory organisations (Stonewall, Mermaids, Gendered Intelligence, Gires and countless others) openly pushing changing sex as a positive at children below the age of consent and the trusted organisations who are meant to safeguard children (schools, DfE, Ofsted, CQC, the police, NHS etc) failing to do so - instead giving these dangerous organisations influence and a platform.
No wonder the lawyers are circling and gathering evidence.

TheKeatingFive · 03/09/2024 09:51

The nhs gets sued all the time - the costs are built in to the funding model.

Harold, what book(s) was read at the drag queen library session?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 03/09/2024 09:07

Haroldwilson · 03/09/2024 08:58

I've taken my child to a drag queen library session. Fully clothed man with make up and a frock. No different from a pantomime dame in my eyes. No sexual innuendo or references to transgender issues, just someone in a bodacious outfit reading a book and being a bit dramatic.

How does that make me complicit in butchery?!

Have you taken your child to a library session where a female firefighter, a farmer, a nurse, a retired adult, a street cleaner, someone with a disability or any of the other roles that glue our society together is invited to read to children? To give children a sense of what our society is like?

Maybe ask who is benefitting from listening to an adult dressed as a grotesque parody of a woman reading aloud? I suspect it's not little children.

ArabellaScott · 13/08/2024 11:22

Anyone who has been duped into waving the Progress Pride flag, or using drag queens as entertainment for children, or celebrating 'identity' probably feels complicit to some extent in this butchery, and may well dig in even harder to avoid recognising the problem.

Nothing I suspect. Try and pretend it hasn't happened.

Think they are more worried about the Congress probe which is getting going and the law suits:

This is getting better and better. Thank you for this. Couldn’t happen to a better person.

I think this statement from the plastic surgeons is a great start. I wonder what WPATH will say about the latest doubling down.

Hmm. I'm struggling to feel empathy, but these parents were sold bullshit lies by governments and medics, abetted by coercive narratives about suicide from activists. What a nightmare.

kiterunning · 03/09/2024 07:46

I think there's also going to be a massive spike in mental health issues for parents trying to come to terms with guilt after allowing their 12 year old daughters to remove their breasts.

TheKeatingFive · 03/09/2024 07:38

I think the plastic surgeons are seeing the writing on the wall. It's dawning on them that they'll get a high proportion of the blame (possibly unfairly). They are the 'butchers'

Chersfrozenface · 13/08/2024 13:40

Will patients be able to sue plastic surgeons who deliberately don't have medical malpractice insurance, like Sidhbh Gallagher? No win no fee lawyers won't help if they don't think they'll get any money from the case.

It will be no coincidence that she is working in Florida as not only does she not need insurance there, it is also the easiest state to place assets beyond the reach of the courts:

Florida Laws actually help favor help protect assets from credits. We provide suggestions to help ensure your assets are protected.

People from outside the USA need to remember that it's a for profit system there and money talks - young person with enabling parents demand gender related surgery and someone is willing to take their (or their insurance company's) money. It's a disjointed system so even if the surgeon says you need a report from a psychiatrist, there's always going to be a willing psychiatrist who will write the paperwork. All about self referral and parents too scared about mental health to say no!

I don't think it's an issue elsewhere because it's not possible to get surgery as easily, rules are stricter for starters

kiterunning · 03/09/2024 07:28

Lawyers will be circling like vultures.
Sad though it is, it will be the financial consequences of these surgeries that will finally be the tipping point.
But if that's the reason I'll take it.

ArabellaScott · 03/09/2024 07:17

Only two more years of butchering children for no good reason.

LOS ANGELES (NewsNation) — The president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says his practice does not provide gender-affirming surgeries for adolescents, saying its long-term efficacy is questionable.

Despite some support in the medical community for providing gender-affirming surgeries to minors, Dr. Steven Williams tells NewsNation it is not something he provides at his practice.

“I don’t perform gender-affirming care in adolescents and the reason why is because I don’t think the data supports it,” Williams said. “So at my practice, we don’t even entertain that.” more

The signs are the medical part of the gender train is running out of track in the US. I think it derails c 2025-7 after detrans cases start winning. Blue states will artificially try and keep it on track in their states, but the time is running out.

12 year ld girls having double mastectomies. how does any surgeon justify that?

Yes, do you remember this being discussed last year? Several poster were adamant that it hadn't happened and never would.

This includes 50 to 179 girls who were 12.5 or younger at the time of their procedure. (“Top surgery” on 12-year-old girls <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/f2mR6/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36248210" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">has been reported in the medical literature.)

Yes it's quite depressing that it takes financial concerns rather than ethical ones to turn the tanker.

It may be depressing but it's also entirely predictable. It was always going to be this way. I will take the good of it.
