@NoBinturongsHereMate

Medical testimony from Imane's own coaching team. Specifically, the doctor responsible.for hormone adjustments.- who confirmed both the chromosome and hormone 'abnormalities'.

This can mean a range of things.it doesn't automatically mean 'male'.

Fair.

Could mean goldfish. They have chromosomal and hormonal differences from women.

More likely to mean ‘male’ though.

Yes, there are lots of chromosome abnormalities.

But they could just be clear and stop obfuscating.

It's like The People's Front of Judaea, The Judaean People's Front...

Grin v funny, Snowy!

You were looking at the right website, ArabellaScott, 'World Boxing' is the new amateur boxing body which might replace the very dodgy, definitely pro-Russian IBA - that's all true, BTW, it's not IOC bad/IBA good, it's IOC bad in their ways/IBA bad in their ways.

Maybe the Lin/Khelifh cases will inspire World Boxing to tighten up their definition of gender? Maybe...

I admire your dogged persistence, Messina. Despite the plethora of evidence that is stacked against the likelihood that Khelif is a woman, you are here determinedly questioning every statement from every coach, medic, competitor, sports biologist and commentator.

I mean that, btw. It may be tedious rebutting all of the assertions but it makes the arguments stronger when every piece of evidence has to be painstakingly and repeatedly explained in great detail.

Every statement? Hardly, but thanks.

duc748 · 13/08/2024 11:36

Nearly as admirable as Khelif and Lin's glorious victories!

What other ‘chromosome abnormalities’ could it be then?

If no Y was present the IBA wouldn’t have made the disqualification.

That to me reads like they mean sex, but, confusingly, use the word gender as a synonym for sex.

Yes, surely this. It's not wise to use gender as a synonym for sex these days, but it does sometimes happen.

Pleased to see Derek of More Plates More Dates has posted a video on the Olympic Boxing shitshow.

Derek has 2 million YouTube subscribers and generally posts about men’s self improvement through fitness, including warts and all content about steroid doping for muscle gain.

I’m deffo not his target audience and CBA to watch the whole video so skipped to his conclusion at 52 mins in. He clearly states that all aspects of biological sex are relevant and that it’s unbelievable that the IOC seemingly had no safeguards to prevent women being punched in the face by men. And ‘there should be higher scrutiny on this than a fucking passport’.

(he referred to DSD athletes as ‘under virilised men’ which made a pleasant change from ‘high testosterone women’!)

I might listen to the whole thing when I have more time.

Catsmere · 13/08/2024 10:57

I live on a hill, safe from rising sea levels but am now worried about my chromosomes. I demand research is done to discover when this scientific miracle occurs. Is it related to height, atmospheric pressure, oxygen levels, UV exposure or yodelling? I think we should be told.

It's got to be the yodelling. I think all Olympic athletes should have to pass yodelling tests.

RedToothBrush · 13/08/2024 09:27

Shit. If your chromosomes change in the hills due to the environment, can someone explain wtf happens to you if you go to Runcorn please?

(Sorry Runcorn but we need to establish some 'facts' here)

Should pronouns be related to height above sea level?
It makes as much sense as the rest of genderwang.

On a more serious note, I agree that the Barr body check should become common practice for sports regulatory bodies to protect women's sport.

I've seen the dedication it takes to excel at sport, the value it has for self discipline and teamwork, the opportunities it brings for advancement. All of these things are being taken away from biological women.

biddyboo · 13/08/2024 10:11

I would be surprised if any new organisation allows people to compete based on passport sex rather than biological sex given how much this would be at odds with swimming, rugby etc, and because of the higher risks in boxing than in other sports. I also think people will kick up a huge fuss now, whereas they might have been able to slip in under the radar before. I guess the danger is if they make some allowances rather than having a very clear policy, which then gets exploited.

Snowypeaks · 13/08/2024 10:09

ArabellaScott · 13/08/2024 09:46

Ah, I wonder if I've confused World Boxing with the World Boxing Association or World Boxing Organisation, and I wonder if all these organisations might possibly amalgamate or even give themselves names that are easier to differentiate? It seems a somewhat confrontational sphere, perhaps that's to be expected, but it also looks to the casual observer like a total mess.

It's like The People's Front of Judaea, The Judaean People's Front...

ArabellaScott · 13/08/2024 10:07

MarieDeGournay · 13/08/2024 10:01

Yes, you're right - no mention of sex :
Characteristics that can affect fairness or lead to discrimination are age, gender, ethnic origin, race, disability, nationality and its origin, religion or beliefs, marital status, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity and socio-economic status.

so it could be another case of 'what it says on your passport'.

Let's hope it's just poorly worded and they are currently working on a far more detailed and sensible policy.

I think the IOC have attempted to wash their hands of responsibility and can just about plausibly claim they aren't boxing experts or any kind of experts , but surely no boxing organisation can claim that it's okay for men to fight women and retain any authority?

Let's hope this Olympics was just a horrific anomaly and not setting any kind of precedent.

Otherwise we're into gladatorial sacrifice of women versus males, really. I suppose for some, that's a plus.

'Transgender boxers are welcome to compete, however due to the nature of boxing, they must fight in their designated gender category to avoid mismatches or risk to health. The World Boxing Medical Committee outlines further the medical rules under which transgender boxers can compete in boxing.'

14 March 2023, World Boxing 'Gender Equality and Inclusion policy'

If they're really going on 'gender' rather than sex, this is worrying. All needs to be much clearer. And nothing at all in there on DSDs.

Helleofabore · 13/08/2024 10:02

What keeps on circulating though is this commentary about the corruption of the IBA.

While expecting the IOC to be factual and scientific in the face of the known past of them declaring Semenya was ‘female with high testosterone’ and that ‘anyone with female on their passport is female’.

The inconsistency is obvious yet, we keep seeing it. It does then leave the question: who do those declaring they won’t trust the IBA trust to deliver the information? The IOC with its proven lies on this subject? No? Who else then?

In the face of this, the ‘you trust the corrupt IBA and have no evidence’ seems to me to be just an excuse to vilify people who disagree.

So you're using scientific rigour? How do you know for sure that you're correct? You're relying on:

  • Hearsay
  • Biased discussion board posts
  • Limited information from a corrupt sorting federation
  • Medical testimony from above federation

And it has been a hubbub. That can't be denied.

You're forgetting:

  • Medical testimony from Imane's own coaching team. Specifically, the doctor responsible.for hormone adjustments.- who confirmed both the chromosome and hormone 'abnormalities'.
