TWO “Female Boxers” Set To Compete At Paris 2024 Were Previously Disqualified From Women’s World Championship For Having “XY Chromosomes” | Mumsnet

Surely this cannot be true. In boxing of all sports. I thought boxing had told men they needed to compete with other men? *”Two athletes competing at...

The Polish lady (is she wearing a skirt?!) has a bloody nose

Ffs! Look at the size of it!

"Lin possesses such a terrific reach" Hmm
How can the commentators bear to talk such shit?

It reminds me of “Grandma what big teeth you have”

Arrogant arsehole

Zeugma · 10/08/2024 20:41

This commentary is nothing short of repulsive

Gorgonemilezola · 10/08/2024 20:40

Some of the stuff on FB over the last few days is unbelievable. Posters doubling down in their support for these two male boxers, tying themselves in knots over Nikki Hiltz (who as a woman, competing in women's events is exactly where she should be - what needs explaining here I have no idea). I can't work out if they actually believe the garbage they're spouting or think this is what they have to do to fit in with their tribe. It's warped and a sad reflection on the way truth is interpreted in these troubled times.

Another pummelling. Poor woman.

Zeugma · 10/08/2024 20:38

I’m fairly sure I just heard a 'he' creep into the commentary there.

Zeugma · 10/08/2024 20:35

Oh what a surprise. 'Lin has such a terrific reach….'

Well, I never 🙄

misscockerspaniel · 10/08/2024 20:35

"Lin possesses such a terrific reach"

You don't say.

Zeugma · 10/08/2024 20:33

The Lin match is on iplayer now if anyone can bear to watch.

334bu · 10/08/2024 20:32

Khelif has quite a quiet, gentle way of speaking, which may be a leftover from being brought up female. If I overheard them speaking, I wouldn't think it was a man. And what lovely eyes

Sounds a bit different here.

TheKeatingFive · 10/08/2024 20:28

TooTiredOfThisShit · 10/08/2024 20:23

But if they're allowed to compete, they're not cheating. Khelif didn't contest the previous testing results, and stopped competing when told to. I think it's an enormous ask to expect someone to turn down this opportunity if it's offered to them. I think the fault lies entirely with the IOC.

Olympic eligibility comes down to an F on the passport. Khelif knows that while he can provide that, this information is false. So yes. He's cheating. The fact that it's state and IOC sponsored cheating doesn't exonerate Khelif here.

Let's not forget, this is men beating up women in the name of sport here. Let's not let men who are knowingly doing this off the hook.

Vespanest · 10/08/2024 20:28

All roads would lead back to the IBA so any legal case would bring the IBA into play and with that the loss of confidentiality. This seems more of an attempt to cease and desist

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 10/08/2024 20:27

Well one can say it certainly isn't a period-blood stain!

kiterunning · 10/08/2024 20:26

More shit with Lin boxing soon

WickedSerious · 10/08/2024 20:23

There's a stain on the Olympic Games alright.

TooTiredOfThisShit · 10/08/2024 20:23

TheKeatingFive · 10/08/2024 18:28

But how could they not be? There has been a question mark over this athlete's eligibility to compete since 2022.

They have done absolutely nothing to put the matter to bed. No appeals, no voluntary testing. How could you conclude anything other than deliberate cheating?

But if they're allowed to compete, they're not cheating. Khelif didn't contest the previous testing results, and stopped competing when told to. I think it's an enormous ask to expect someone to turn down this opportunity if it's offered to them. I think the fault lies entirely with the IOC.

RethinkingLife · 10/08/2024 20:21

Rough translation with some paraphrasing.

After the time for sports, come the time for justice.

Having just won a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, the boxer Imane Khelif has decided to begin a new fight, a fight for justice, dignity and honour.

Madame Khelif has filed the complaint for aggravated online harassment to Paris prosecutors.
The investigation will determine who was behind this misogynist, racist and sexist campaign, but will also have to concern itself with those who fed the online lynching.
The iniquitous harassment to which the boxing champion had been subjected will [persist?] as a great [free translation: shameful] stain on these Olympic Games.

Best efforts with some freedoms.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 10/08/2024 20:20

Even in the incredibly unlikely event he tried to sue for libel, and had a test that came back xx, I'm pretty sure we're all covered under "reasonable belief"

I strongly doubt that would happen though

Quick Google (and common sense) tells me that harassment of a public figure seems to be a lot harder to prosecute than a normal person - given non-private info can be argued to be in the public interest - so good luck with that one too!

WickedSerious · 10/08/2024 20:18

kiterunning · 10/08/2024 20:11

Thomas Bach is standing down. Thank fuck.

Off you fuck Tommy and don't come back.

ditalini · 10/08/2024 20:17

LiveInTheLandAndDoGood · 10/08/2024 20:00

Not sure whether this is genuine, but on Twitter there is an indication that Khelif is filing a complaint of cyber harrassment! x.com/DZFOOTBALLDZ/status/1822329125970882929

That's good if it's finally going to end up in court.

It could have all been avoided of course if they'd just gone to CAS in the first place.

kiterunning · 10/08/2024 20:12

Madame Khelif hahaha

kiterunning · 10/08/2024 20:11

Can someone translate? Is he calling the rozzers on us?
