Hulking transgender athletes take gold, silver and bronze spots on female podium at Virginia cycling championship | Daily Mail Online

"The sailing fan from British Columbia has worked as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist and was ranked 22nd in the men's Victoria Cycling League this time in 2023.
Second place went to Jenna Lingwood, 43, who raced as a man until 2017 and is now a member of the Oregon-based women's cyclocross squad Team S&M.
She is a physics graduate of the University of Washington who works in Portland for Intel as a Supply Chain R&D Engineer.

Californian Eva Lin, 28, used to race as Henry Lin for San Jose State University's men's team, but his placings have soared since he switched to its women's team in 2022"

Dirty rotten CHEATS
That is all.

Oh hang on, it never happens though.
I must be dreaming.

@LaeralSilverhand I’m not sure on your stance with this. You seem to accuse of others of ‘not caring’ when it comes to men in women’s sports when they clearly do.

But you seem to not care about changing sex via a GRC with gives males access. Why?

@EasternStandard that's the Irish Gender Recognition Act 2015. Did you even bother clicking on the link? 🙄

Nope blame Google if it’s wrong

Second link

Although may be by state

To change your name, or both your name and gender on your birth certificate, you must go through the following steps:

  1. Obtain a court order as described in the Name Change, Gender Change, or Name and Gender pages of this guide.

On what basis do you doubt this? The vast majority of transwomen in the UK do not have a GRC. The US, where this problem is endemic, doesn't even have an equivalent of the GRA.

I’m not asking you divert your pressure from female sport if you feel you can change that. All good imo

I couldn’t access Google the other day but on this do they not?

Looking up US gender recognition act took me to here

Gender Recognition Act 2015

The Act provides for recognition of changes of gender, issuance of gender recognition certificates, and conforming amendments to other legislation, including the Adoption Act 2010.

72 trans-identifying males at the moment playing in the women's league in England, and not a single trans-identifying female playing in the men's league.

How odd.

Why? Do biological men need more padding in that area? Doesn't that need just vanish with the magic gender feelz kick in? Along with the magic growing of a cervix?

Anything I say on that subject would undoubtedly... have consequences. So I shall stay schtum.

duc748 · 24/07/2024 17:21

It's one of life's great mysteries. A bit like, although people with DSDs are very rare in the gen pop, why do they seem to be so heavily over-represented in women's elite sports?

ItsJustNotWorking · 24/07/2024 17:12

Chersfrozenface · 24/07/2024 15:00

It's just a giant middle finger, really.

Although do take into account how much padding there is in the crotch of men's racing cycle shorts.

I'm so confused. It's almost like biology matters.

TBH I think some university should do a study looking into the mysterious link between failing at men's sports and sudden onset gender dysphoria.

HootyMcBooby · 24/07/2024 15:52

Yes I had heard Daley is very supportive of Sharon Davies battle against men in female sports.
Someone may be able to come along with more details, but hasn't Caitlin Jenner also (as a former Olympic medalist) come out against trans women competing against females? I know they did in the past at least, not sure if their stance has changed under pressure from TRAs.

It seems to me that increasingly they are being condemned by men as well as women?

A small number is still a small number. The 'condemnation' seems neither public nor numerous/loud. Daley Thompson is one of the very few men I recall seeing at the 'Woman's Place Is on the Podium' event at QE2. I've not seen an upswell in men speaking out about this but accept I may have been looking in the 'wrong' places.

They know they don't even have to bother trying.
All it takes are the magic words.

I'd not be surprised it was very very intentional as a giant "fingers up" to the women.
As in "there's nothing you can do about it".

BlackShuck3 · 24/07/2024 14:58

@HootyMcBooby and @StickItInTheFamilyAlbum
I don't disagree at all with either of your responses, but surely they are overreaching. Don't they need the support of men in order to continue getting away with this?

The trans woman in the middle is obviously displaying their male genitalia, surely that trans woman is unwittingly shooting themselves in the foot there?

Emperor's new clothes has never been about clothes. It's always been about the ability to assert dominance through

  • a naked display of power that compels people to speak against their own experience of what they see
  • compelling the commissioning of service delivery and expenditure of public funds on clothes that have never existed and being forced to praise them.

There are several sports, like cycling, that involve unrelenting focus and self-discipline (the sheer volume of hours that has to be put in at endurance levels). Yes, boys do have it yet girls greater emotional maturity at a younger age extends parity and/or competitiveness at U12 and U14 in some sports until the Big T pretty much turbocharges progression.

We understand that perfectly. I am happy with mixed sex events up to 12 in many sports where times and placings are separately recorded. It's not the ideal situation, but it's much better than no events which girls can take part in. For now, it's a good solution.

However, - just making a general point, here - puberty-blocked boys/men who have got to 16 or so will have their innate physical advantages and their mentality will have caught up. That is why older boys and men should not be in women's competition even if they have not gone through puberty.

LaeralSilverhand · 24/07/2024 14:27

@Helleofabore I honestly don't know and I don't know if there has ever been a study on it. I could ask the girls I coach whether they would be happier being coached in girls-only sessions but at the end of the day we don't have enough volunteers to provide single-sex coaching sessions. And of course it's not really possible to capture the opinions of children who are deterred from ever coming to a taster session in the first place.

At the adult level in our club we do run women-only and mixed social rides for our non-racing riders (in most cycling clubs, the majority of members are either non-racing or only enter time trials rather than races). Our women's race team trains both in women-only groups and with the men. Training with the men is essentially motorpacing and a very useful training technique - as well as being insanely fun. It does really highlight the difference in power though - they'll be having a chat while you are just hanging on to the wheel as if your life depends on it.

Ok. Thank you. That is interesting.

If there are that many trans women in this competition, couldn't they have a separate competition just for trans women? That would solve the problem immediately.

But the poor men wouldn’t have an obvious advantage any more and would therefore have less opportunity to win.

Helleofabore · 24/07/2024 14:02

LaeralSilverhand · 24/07/2024 13:54

Yes, girls should have their own events wherever possible - and they do from U14 onwards. For U12 and below the girls and boys often race together but always get separate results and separate podium ceremonies. It's effectively two different races that are on the course at the same time - just like many running races. We often combine age groups too, so U6/U8 and U10/U12. They still get their own results, podiums and medals.

Thanks.

It is interesting. Because as I mentioned up thread, are the girls deterred from racing with the boys even if they are awarded by sex? That would be an interesting thing to study. It certainly may not be a common feeling. Do you know if anyone has done even a questionnaire on this?
