FFS disability is now on the pride flag

I'm livid. I'm disabled and I do not want to be represented on the LGBTQ+ flag.

Also this quote: Dayna Halliwell (she/her), Content and Engagement Manager at Evenbreak, led the collaboration and organised the Pride visit. She said: “It was very moving and amazing to see the reaction of disabled people in the audience. You could see the joy on their faces of being represented in the parade.”

To clarify. You are calling those who identify as queer paedos and fetishists???

She didn't say that. You're clearly looking for a soundbite you can screenshot for Twitter/x.

MillyNair · 16/07/2024 09:55

I take it that there are LGBTQ people who are also disabled?

It’s a celebration of diversity, is it not?

Unless you’re incredibly homophobic and don’t want to be associated, I don’t see why you’d have a problem with it.

Well it used to be symbol of liberating LGB people from oppressive and discriminatory laws.

Celebrating “diversity”? Not really though: certainly not diversity of opinion? What you seem to be saying is that Gay, queer and disabled people are one homogeneous mass, which they aren’t.

And of course you don’t see why appropriating other people’s disability for your own sexual preferences, because that would mean confronting your own prejudice and entitlement.
Disabled people are entitled to say No Thanks to you, without your permission. And the fact you reflexively jump to telling the disabled people on the thread what to think - or else (you’ll character assassinate with incredibly homophobic’).
You may as well have said “Sit down and Shut the fuck up. We’re talking here.” It’s certainly what you meant. How about you sit down for a change.

The flag now looks as though it was designed by a corporate board, with no one daring to suggest that while it’s possible to amalgamate everyone’s suggestions, from an aesthetic point of view, less would definitely be more.

Incidentally, I have a disability and my DD has SEN. Neither of us need a flipping flag.

You already have a flipping flag. A logo. A ribbon.

Well I'm disappointed but not surprised as they've had an autism pride flag for a while, having effectively made it a condition that anyone can self-id into, in the same way that they have with being a woman. It was only a matter of time before they came for all disabilities, especially when you consider that scot gov and several other woke bodies have been asking people if they identify as disabled rather than if they are for quite some time now.

Omg prepare for the OUTRAGE of daring to say that anyone and everyone can just self identify as ND now and how disgusting and offensive it is to those with an actual diagnosis.
Every man and his dog is either identifying themselves or self identifying kids as ND even when it's clear the professional are pushing back on these self assertions.

I don’t understand why the rainbow doesn’t already include disabled gay people. Does adding disabled people mean they weren’t included before?

That's what thought too. Presumably this new addition refers to straight disabled people.
I wonder who they'll add on next? Deaf people maybe. So 'they are heard' 😂
IMO they are following the funding money as per usual.

Oh, OK, then it is fine for LGBTQ people to be attacked and abused then. :face palm:

Are you aware that the L is for Lesbian?

At least this takes it one step closer to collapsing under the weight of its own bullshit

This 💯

Do you support the lesbians who were kicked out of Pride then , for saying men can't be lesbians?

Or are they the wrong kind of LGB for you?

Then get off your arse and campaign and do the work to get it included. Don't get all upset when other people do that and get what they want included.

It's like the men moaning that other people don't do enough to celebrate international mens day while they do nothing about it themselves, just wait for others to do it for them.

Oh dear.

Sarcasm just flies over your head, doesn't it, sweetie?

Go lie down before you hurt yourself.

Longdueachange · 16/07/2024 09:51

I'm uncomfortable about it as it almost looks like they are creating a sub category for disabled attracted. It looks to me as though it's fetising disabilities. Frankly the flag has so many different colours and agendas, that no one really knows what they all mean.

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 09:51

CocoapuffPuff · 16/07/2024 09:49

I'd like a little lightening bolt added somewhere, to make me feel included (epileptic). Who do I call to put in my request?

Actually, that's a good question. Which organisation actually throws these monstrosities against good design together?

Until LGBTQ people are able to live their lives without fear of attack I will support their right to celebrate how ever they wish.

AlisonDonut · 16/07/2024 09:50

How does anyone know if they are 'included' in this?

What happens if someone isn't 'included'?

I'm a lesbian and I don't want to be associated with that flag or indeed any 'rainbow' flag.

Am I homophobic?

AstonScrapingsNameChange · 16/07/2024 09:47

Ffs educate yourself.

I am very well educated on it, thank you.

I'm asking them to clarify what they are saying. Are they calling anyone who identifies as queer and paedophile and fetishist?

AstonScrapingsNameChange · 16/07/2024 09:49

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 09:45

There is. You know the part of the flag that is to the right of the black lines? That is for biological women. And men.

My point stands.

Nothing for women. Just 'women AND MEN.

So everyone then.

Ergo, it's all pointless posturing that can't even decide what it stands for.

Please point out the part of this flag that represents disabled, white, heterosexual people (all those elements, not just one).

pilo7 · 16/07/2024 09:47

I think it's outrageous that vegans, the left-handed and the cat-gender community aren't represented. 'Inclusion' my arse.

To legitimise fetishists and AGPs and probably a couple of paedos too who want to push boundaries and normalise themselves in wider society
