FFS disability is now on the pride flag

I'm livid. I'm disabled and I do not want to be represented on the LGBTQ+ flag.

Also this quote: Dayna Halliwell (she/her), Content and Engagement Manager at Evenbreak, led the collaboration and organised the Pride visit. She said: “It was very moving and amazing to see the reaction of disabled people in the audience. You could see the joy on their faces of being represented in the parade.”

As a mum of two both with disabilities i hated this all this I'm proud of my disability. I would rather they weren't and could have a normal life. There will also be a minority that will take the piss.

I guess it’s for people who are both disabled and queer.

Idk I guess just ignore it if you don’t like it.

It’s all very well trying to ignore it.

Until the forced teaming starts.

“Sandra is a proud transwoman in a wheelchair. Are you so hateful to her you don’t accept her trans identity because she’s disabled?! Double bigot!!”

The Pride flag is homophobic. It represents an ideology that labels same-sex attraction as ‘sexual racism’ and declares lesbians must include men who identify as women in their dating circle or they are transphobic.

The Pride flag isn't.

The Progress Pride flag is.

Allthatsbeautifuldriftsaway · 16/07/2024 10:14

Oh dear the more they add the less meaning it has

Quietnights · 16/07/2024 10:14

I am waiting to see what the colour and symbol will be for gender critical people. Gender critical gays and lesbians exist, right? So they should be on the flag if its about diversity, right?

WhatsUpNowThen · 16/07/2024 10:14

Surely vegans and vegetarians must be represented on the pride flag. Maybe by adding a carrot or a chickpea?

It's supposed to be joyous. Needs to be a Vego bar.

Sloejelly · 16/07/2024 10:14

WaitingForMojo · 16/07/2024 09:05

It’s a celebration of diversity, is it not?

Unless you’re incredibly homophobic and don’t want to be associated, I don’t see why you’d have a problem with it.

I think it's outrageous that vegans, the left-handed and the cat-gender community aren't represented. 'Inclusion' my arse.

No gingers either.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 16/07/2024 09:16

Shall we include race? Language? Minority language groups should be considered too.

The pride flag was about sexual orientation. When you stick disability in to whitewash having included fetish, then you're doubling down on the mistake.

It already includes race

Quietnights · 16/07/2024 10:12

I know people who identify as queer because they don't fit the gay or bi box, so consider themselves queer So you mean straight people?

I am a straight, able-bodied woman and my knowledge of the Pride movement is what I hear on the news and see on SM. Until today I thought Pride was about gender. Now I see the modern flag represents diversity and hope
And here is the clearest statement I have ever read of how gay men and lesbian women have been written out of their own movement by gender ideology.

Giggorata · 16/07/2024 10:12

Surely it's about including those who are attracted to people with disabilities?

Not really. A celebration of diversity would include everyone

NotBadConsidering · 16/07/2024 10:12

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 10:04

They do not! Seriously. Paedophiles do not (outside of one or two freaks) identify as queer due to their paedophilia.

Yes, I know some people who their fetishism is part of their queer identity. I know people who identify as queer because they don't fit the gay or bi box, so consider themselves queer. I don't know ANYONE who considers queer a gender identitity.

(outside of one or two freaks)

So some do then. Glad we agree.

You say queer is not a gender identity. Others say it is. Given this confusion and it can mean anything: gay, straight, bi, trans, what’s it in the initialism for then?

lemans · 16/07/2024 10:12

I wont feel included until I have my own Pantone reference.

NameChange0101010101 · 16/07/2024 10:11

JusteanBiscuits · 16/07/2024 09:49

I am very well educated on it, thank you.

I'm asking them to clarify what they are saying. Are they calling anyone who identifies as queer and paedophile and fetishist?

You will be well aware then that some of the groups pushing for inclusion under the pride umbrella are minor attracted persons (aka paedophiles) and pro bestiality.

Noting this does not equal 'anyone who identifies as queer is a paedophile and fetishist' .

You will also be aware that 'queer' is offensive to some LGB people, as is the appropriation of homosexuality by 'spicy straights'.

This forced teaming does no one to the left of the T any favours.

Combattingthemoaners · 16/07/2024 10:11

Why choose to be offended by this? I am gay and don’t really see myself as part of the LGBTQ+ community. However, I respect people’s right to want to form this kind of community as a safe place and celebration of diversity. If your personal belief or identity doesn’t align with it then no one is forcing you to be part of it.

AlisonDonut · 16/07/2024 10:10

It's all about Corporate Marginalisation these days. Yes it is an oxymoron. No that doesn't seem to matter.

Until today I thought Pride was about gender. Now I see the modern flag represents diversity and hope.

I think that each representation will become so diluted so it will become meaningless. A Pride march could include everyone.

Pride was about gays and lesbians.

Same Sex Attracted people wanting the rights to live their lives normally. And who campaigned for laws to do so.

Not this utter abomination of Trans and Gender and all the fetishes and furries and nonsense screaming 'LOOK AT ME whilst they urinate in the streets and give each other blow jobs in front of kids. As witnessed at this year's 'PRIDE'.

It hasn't been about same sex attracted people for years.

Stop giving them ideas. I swear to Lucifer, I'll hunt you down @BloodyHellKenAgain if anything vegan turns up on that flag! 😂

😂😂😂😂
It's only a matter of time before the grift turns to supermarket sponsorship and that carrot appears.

MillyNair · 16/07/2024 09:55

I take it that there are LGBTQ people who are also disabled?

Yes there are. But they are already represented by the LGBT acronym.

Just like there are Christian and Muslim LGBT but you’d never expect the star & crescent or the cross added to the flag.

This is just a huge money making machine now and it’s lost all credibility. Even the original members of stone wall & pride have distanced them selves from it.

By adding the disability sign it’s just another income revenue/ taking from charities that have long established work with disabled people.

I hope there is a way that this can be taken to court as it’s all about money

Katiesaidthat · 16/07/2024 10:08

Isn´t this a bit odd? It´s like letting slip that being gay is a disability, which is what the most ardent homophobes have always said. Down this road lies madness.

I agree. I think diversity is the most important thing. I fully support the inclusion of disability in Pride.

JustThatEnby · 16/07/2024 10:07

I think it’s a good thing for the people that want to be represented like that, if you don’t then just don’t associate with it? Isn’t going to matter in your life, but maybe it’ll help in someone elses
