You see a lot of us would have no issue with this. Me included. I do understand that some do have an issue so if that issue is more important than getting out of this shitstorm the government have created where people cant feed their children then vote accordingly.

Well then you could campaign for third spaces, and leave women's spaces intact for those that do want or require them.

CaveMum · 30/06/2024 08:38

@MumblesParty I’m so sorry that happened to you.

mupersum1 · 30/06/2024 08:29

@MumblesParty

I'm so sorry and I can't imagine how unbelievably painful and anger inducing it is to have people ask why we possibly have an issue with men in women's toilets.

Fucking hell I'm just so sorry Flowers

A man is a man, surgery or not. They are bigger and stronger than us and the sort of men that want to frequent our loos may have dark reasons for doing so. Third space all the way.

It just makes me wonder what some women do in the toilets? I go into a sealed unit (as in close the door) have my wee or poo, wipe myself, pull up my underwear and exit the door. I then wash my hands, perhaps 're apply my make up, go back out of the toilet.

when I was much younger and frequented clubs, it was not that off for me to enter the mens toilet, shout out that a woman was going in, avert my eyes as I entered, and use the first available cubical. It was quite normal around that time. I didn't feel like I was invading their space, it was a practical solution to the fact that women need to to pee sat down and ,because they are private.

Well I had a miscarriage. Other women may have suffered the same. Also have you heard of periods?

I'm sick of this now generally popular idea that if a man has had his genitals surgically removed then it is fine for him to be in women's private spaces.
It seems to have taken hold with the public too. A bit like the Eunuch in the Harem - who is perceived as being no threat to the Sultan, his wives and concubines, because he's no longer really a man.

Notice he calls it the Equalities Act, not the Equality Act.

Its a small detail, but I'd have thought he'd know the correct name of an act he supports so much. Lots of activist call it the Equalities act, so i wonder if hes picked it up from them.

Tbf Sunak did this when they were debating this issue. I would have thought that Starmer would have at least got this right.

Why would you shout out a woman was going in and avert your eyes if you didn’t feel like you were invading the mens space? Sounds to me like you were very aware you were invading their space by doing those things. You knew that some of the men would be uncomfortable with you there.

So your argument supports that transwomen DONT need to use the female toilets then since they can go into the men's and shut the cubicle door?

The Morning Star has run many supportive articles like this.

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/06/2024 07:54

I always think of women who are controlled by abusive partners. Posters with phone numbers for helplines etc can be read by a woman in there alone, but not if her partner can follow her in.

EasternStandard · 30/06/2024 07:42

What line did he use?

I can’t bear listening to him but may have to

Shortshriftandlethal · 30/06/2024 07:41

If toilets are not such a big deal why can't trans identified males use the men's?

Well, perhaps you might try to also imagine doing those things when out and about in the night time economy, in a mixed sex toilet block with a shared acess corridor and washbasins in the access area.

Perhaps you might also imagine sending your 10 year old daughter into a mixed sex facility or feeling you have to accompany her because there might be men in there; or maybe having to take refuge in the ladies after a very hot flush; or when you've just come on your period or have flooded......Try to imagine walking into a toilet block to find men peeing with door wide open; or perhaps a man looking at you in a lascivious way as you queue for a free toilet.......

@user1471453601 when I was 16 I was raped by a stranger in the street. When it was over I ran to the nearby bus station and into the toilets. There were 3 lovely women in there, who comforted me, gave me a hug as a cried, talked to me, supported me.

Lucky you that all you’ve ever had to do is “go into a sealed unit (as in close the door) have my wee or poo, wipe myself, pull up my underwear and exit the door. I then wash my hands, perhaps 're apply my make up, go back out of the toilet”.

I have endometriosis and the pain has caused me to collapse in the women's toilets and pass out. Twice other women called for an ambulance so I could be rushed to hospital. I've also had a miscarriage in a public loo. Women's biology makes them vulnerable for all kinds of reasons, hence the need for separate spaces.

Jess Barnard sounds well jell of Kate's column.

But able to cover that with a display of piousness 😏

Catsmere · 30/06/2024 01:49

What they, and all governments, need to do is stop pretending men can be women and vice versa. Drop the whole legal fiction that there is anything but two immutable sexes. But they won't, because they love this oh-so-progressive way of removing the rights women have fought so hard for.

I, too, have pumped breast milk in the female toilets. Multiple times.

Female toilets are never just for peeing.

BackToLurk · 30/06/2024 00:01

Meanwhile a Labour NEC member comes up with this.

Starmer is asked about toilets AGAIN
Midgegreenstreet · 29/06/2024 23:50

Justme56 · 29/06/2024 23:47

As well as all of the above, the reason that toilets are an issue is because you are sitting there with your pants around your ankles so are in an especially vulnerable position if anyone does get access.

Yes I don't think men consider the fact that women have to partially undress every time they go to the loo.

Midgegreenstreet · 29/06/2024 23:47

Women's toilets are often a quiet space away from the public eye. Two female specific things I've done in there, other than going for a wee or poo, are take a pregnancy test and pump breast milk. I've also opened A level results in there.
