I think if I was in David Lammy's constituency I'd have to write in a vote for JK Rowling.

duc748 · 03/07/2024 13:54

Can't see the comments, but Jeez, that hectoring tone! "You could have asked me about this, or that"! What an arsehole!

RoyalCorgi · 03/07/2024 13:50

I loved the comment someone wrote: "His dad was a Cervixmaker."

Has JKR been TwiXing about Lammy?

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/jk-rowling-slams-lammy-over-womens-rights/ I was able to read by opening in incognito

That transcript Shock

I glanced at an article in the Times about him the other day. It seemed a bit of a hagiography. I only saw two brief mentions of women (and one of those was an aside put in by the author).

She has

I work in charity fundraising. Charities are bound by GDPR like most other organisations they can't just publish details of their donors any more than Amazon can publish information about their customers.

I'm sure Cassie is well aware of that.

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 30/06/2024 08:37

We could make charities and trade unions subject to FOI, though I seriously doubt all those arguing for their own special brand of transparency would want that

I have voted for Lammy for years, but will not vote for him again until he rethinks his position on women and gender.

And cervixes!

That's like Farage claiming his campaigner is a set up, sorry
They need to publish their proper donor list

Charity annual accounts (which you can read on the Charity Commission website) will often give details of large gifts or grants but that can be because the funder wants recognition. It's not unusual for donors to remain anonymous especially if the donations are small.

No they don't. And if they did it would just be used by the usual angry males to harass and threaten those who donated.

Exactly this. They would be putting all the women and men who have donated £20 in danger, because trans activists are just about the most intolerant people in existence.

No, I mean like when you tell someone they have "lost touch with reality" because they have a different opinion to you Hmm

If the shoe fits.

Fact: LGB Alliance is funded by individual donations
We receive no government grants or funding from big business and our income is derived from individual donations, often of £10 or £20, which we receive through our website. As a registered charity we are required to declare sources of income and our accounts are publicly available.

No. I don't support orgs hosted in Tufton Street with non-transparent funding streams. I think they are pushing a far right agenda under a guise of being "reasonable".
When LGB Alliance explain who their large scale donors are I will be happier

You really have lost touch with reality.

LGB Alliance are is one of those and if I were a politician I would not want to be perceived to support them either

Why? Are you homophobic?

CassieMaddox · 29/06/2024 21:40

No. Some GC campaigners are accused of it because they are. You are now forced teaming the far right with JKR which is pretty shocking to be honest.

Oh don't be so daft.

CassieMaddox · 29/06/2024 21:40

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 29/06/2024 10:31

I'm not being ridiculous. Women like JKR are constantly accused of being in league with the far right and therefore being anti abortion, for example, when people like Nicola Sturgeon and Lisa Nandy are never accused of being on the same side as rapists even when they are literally calling for those rapists to be housed in women's prisons. There is no link whatsoever between JKR and the far right, but she still gets accused of that, whereas there is a very obvious and direct link between Nicola Sturgeon and Lisa Nandy and the male rapists for whom they are advocating, and yet no one would label them as pro rapist. It's an extraordinary double standard.

I agree that it's a clear sign of stupidity to believe humans can change sex. As well as that men with £5 bits of paper are women.

The £5 charge was the Tories 😴

CassieMaddox · 29/06/2024 21:36

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 29/06/2024 10:26

Given that JKR's position is that humans can't change sex, Lia Thomas shouldn't be swimming in women's swimming competitions, male rapists shouldn't be housed in women's prisons, we shouldn't be performing irreversible medical interventions on gender non conforming children and calling women menstruators is gross, I think you'd have to be really fucking stupid to disagree with that, let alone say it out loud.

And lol at the idea that rising to the top of the Labour party is a sign of intelligence. The world of politics is like a toilet in which shit floats to the top. It would be much harder to reach the top as an intelligent person.

Edited

Straw man. Angela Rayner has not disagreed with any of that. Or David Lammy actually. You are putting words in their mouths.
