You can keep saying that...but he did have some state craft, and Zelensky certainly seemed to respect him.

Boris Johnson comes from an international family...and his great uncle was a political activist in Ottoman Turkey - for which he was murdered.

Piece by Hannah Barnes in the same edition saying "Starmer must expect that JKR is right: Labour is failing women". Andrew Marr, of course, finds this of piffling importance compared to the big grown-up issues that Starmer and his ministers will have to grapple with.

Completely agree.

He's not going to impress any foreign leaders or their counterparts, by banging on about being the decendent of slaves, as a reason not to engage with challenging issues.

i wonder if Starmer will do a re-shuffle or has he said ministers will keep their current roles?

I didn't even see any mentions of his mum. His dad, who died a homeless alcoholic after abandoning his family when Lammy was twelve, but not his mum who (unless I'm seriously missing something) must have really stepped up.

Wtf is the matter with the Labour party?! Are they honestly unaware of the optics of a man frothing about how dare women question him about women's rights like that? They must be or they'd have muzzled him until Friday.

The other worse option is that he and Starmer are not the only ones and the whole bloody party is full of them, and they think this is how things should be!

Yes. How dare the interviewer ask him about the rights of 50% of the population? Obviously women as a group are a complete irrelevance.

I am distinctly unimpressed by the "as the descendant of enslaved people" line. So what? Most of my ancestors had really shit lives. My grandmothers were born at a time when women didn't have the vote. It doesn't mean I can go round lecturing black people, for example, and telling them that their rights don't matter.
