Rayner is to Starmer as Prescott was to Blair. The blunt northerner appealing to the unions and the traditional working class members (if there are any left). Starmer needs her as Blair needed Prescott to be able to say the party leadership represented the full spectrum of the Left. I suspect though that she won’t be deployed as the Enforcer in quite the same way as Prescott.

I don’t rate her or Long-Bailey (known in our household as Wrong-Daily). I really struggle to think of any quality Labour politicians that I admire these days. The entire front line shadow cabinet has disappointed me at some point or other. Andy Burnham seems to have settled for being King in the North for now. Dan Jarvis was in the rise some time ago took a step back due to his family situation but maybe he’ll get opportunities in the new government. I wish I knew of more backbench women Labour MPs - I rate my local MPs Diana Johnson and Emma Hardy for being hard working representatives of their constituents but haven’t looked up what their positions are on women’s rights because I don’t want to be disappointed in them if they toe the party line. Bit cowardly of me I know.

All the candidates in the leadership election signed the anti-feminist pledge except Starmer and some people here imagined at the time that that meant he was on our side. Clearly he wasn't. I think it's more likely that being a lawyer he just understood better than the others that it was potentially libellous.

It's a shame that Laura Pidcock lost her seat in 2019 – she is sharper and more articulate than both Angela Rayner and Rebecca Long-Bailey put together and would have been a much better left candidate, and she is GC.

She was still of the same opinion in March of this year.

Up until her comments today I hadn't really realised how awful she is. I've always had a lot of admiration for her, whilst not agreeing with much of what she says. After today she can fuck right off with her anti female rights bollocks.

If you fancy putting your big girl knickers (or in Eden's case non binary underpants) on and introducing yourselves here I'm sure we could help you come up with a PhD which isn't going to make you both look like a couple of absolute spuds in a few years time. And some of us would be willing to do so even though you have accused, tried and convicted us of hate crime without even having the decency to inform us the trial was taking place!

They’re getting worse, the closer to election we get. They muted themselves a bit, but they’re back out in their true colours now they’re sure in they’re in.

Labour are doubling down in the plan to shaft women.

There will be short term pain as that plays out- boys in girls teams, toilets, guides etc. There will be numerous assaults and uncountable exclusion of women unable to feel safe in public. At the gym, in changing rooms, at refuges.

Then one of two things will happen. Either the idiots will finally realise the issue and row painfully back, or… we’ll be thrown back into a kind of dark age where women meet underground and carefully, policing their words and looks in public, letting their guard down only in private.

Tories are realising the mistake. Labour are going to make it worse. Have you seen the news about it this week.

No. Its like a nested thingummy I think. By her logic, trans womens rights are a subset of womens rights. But not all womens rights are trans womens rights.

Honestly, I don't know how to vote in the election. I can't bring myself to vote Tory. Labour, lib dems and green are all throwing women under the bus. In my constituency that leaves me with an independent conspiracy theorist or the TUSC (who from what I've read, agree with Labour on the GRA). So there is nobody for me to vote for!!

The answer is that they do this because it gives them a thrill to break the boundary of entering a place they’re not supposed to be.
I suspect that every disapproving look they get from women who might be in the toilet just heightens their pleasure.
It’s sick. Apart from a very, very, very small number of them who are genuinely mentally ill and need help, they’re sick saddos, inadequate men.

Because that's what they want, what they demand.

They're not men wearing what they want and being comfortable in more female clothes. That's not the point at all.

They are men who, for whatever reason, want to be treated as if they were women in all circumstances. The clothes are signals of that (and often other things besides). Using (what used to be) women's toilets and the women in them gives them "validation" - "yes, everyone believes I'm a woman".

These men at the conference centre are just wearing womens clothes, grown hair longer and maybe a bit of make up. That's it. No other attempt to pass. They just look like men in women's clothes. Clearly none of them have had hormone treatment etc.

What I don't get is why they can't just be men who can wear what they want and if they're comfortable in more female clothes why not just be that.
