The replies confirming that on this issue, he's firmly in an echo chamber - 'here's the tweet' surely illustrative of fact he's lost it...

Thanks for this @fromorbit 😂!

WTF? How the hell can someone accuse JKR of rape? Utterly bonkers reply but par for the course for the TRAs

That’s the account that’s been harassing James Dreyfus - it does quite the line in libellous accusations. There was another TRA account on TwiX a while ago making patently false claims of having been sexually assaulted by her at HP book signings, which may be what they’re referring to; but it might be a fabrication of their own, or yet another revolting liar.

On trying to read the X post I was delighted to discover Jolyon has blocked me! Never had any dealings with him that I recall but I must be on his banned TERF list somehow.

I think he's got one of those X programmes that filter out 'terfy' accounts and automatically block them for the user.

Very useful for those who live in terror of coming across an original or fresh thought when browsing their fave social media platform.

55 Tufton Street is an office address which has a lot of right wing (some arguably far right) think tanks based there.

Nobody lives there and no-one cares about what happens elsewhere on the street.

Yes I know it well. Feeding Britain had their office there and I used to do some work for them (never met Frank Field tho, sadly).

the idea that having an office on a street will cause you to absorb the politics of the other offices (through the skin? The air?) is so BASIC as to be risible.

It couldn't be that at the time that LGBA were looking for an office, West end and Westminster commercial space was at an historic low per sq ft because of Covid and then higher interest rates which meant lots of existing tenants had to re-fi? Not like this historically unusual supply-demand imbalance was well reported in the news or anything? Oh no, it has to be because there's some shadowy numinous FORCE on tufton street which causes everyone who rents office space there to go all right wing.

jeez. I thought MN-ers were amongst the last bastion of people who didn't get their news off tik tok.

Are you...are you saying that....if you live on the same street as someone, you must share their political stance? It's news to me.

Or do you move to a certain place and then sort of...absorb the neighbours' politics, like a sort of ideological osmosis? How does it happen - through the skin, or is it airbourne?

This sounds like a massive scandal which the pOwErS tHaT bE have been covering up. I suggest you get a decent, principled and not at all nutty legal eagle on your side, stat! I've heard that Jolyon Maugham's quite good: he will take on your case, and lose it spectacularly, all for the very reasonable price of £600k and a dead fox.

As someone rightly points out in response, it's a '+' not a ' t', this is baseless conflation; disingenuous at best, dangerous at worst.
It's a shame as I have always supported the Good Law Project as it does some very important work, Jolyon Maughan's descent into unreason blinkered pronouncements saddens me.

PronounssheRa · 26/06/2024 12:18

Oh dear, he might needs his glasses prescription reviewing because he cant tell the difference between a T and a +

Tbf you can't really expect people who can't differentiate between sex and gender, or man and woman, to be able to tell T and + apart.

Part of the problem was they couldn't get offices in the buildings known for being left wing as the other tenants felt "unsafe"

Arf! 😃

55 Tufton St carries a lot of baggage, people who follow British politics whether on the left or right are very aware of it and the influence the organisations based there carry with the current government so it's an easy 'score' for TRAs to mention it - especially as if Labour get in then that governmental influence disappears immediately.

Accepting an office there was a rare misstep from LGBA.

Just so dishonest. I fully expect his self-regard to be his come-uppance, though. Awful man.

TRAs are always gong on about the LGBA address. I believe it's something to do with other businesses in the area. Some of them are right wing. Or something.

ResisterRex · 26/06/2024 09:39

Is what he said, actionable? Not that I think it wouldn't be draining to have to fight another case. Equally, I'm not sure you could let this stand.

RoyalCorgi · 26/06/2024 09:32

So either he's very stupid or he's deliberately lying. The LGBA tweet was about the + not the T.

Isn’t this the guy that bashed a fox to death? Total nutter anyway.

Sloejelly · 26/06/2024 09:14

shadowy conspiracy theorist crank

Another conspiracy he is currently promoting (with crowd funder) is that the powers that be are hiding an epidemic of deaths since Keira Bell’s trial limited access to puberty blockers. Apparently some secret ‘whistle blower’ has told him though the only information he has presented to back up this claim suggests he can barely add up let alone read, and is contradicted by evidence in the public domain (including FOI requests).

QAOPspaceman · 26/06/2024 09:01

Seems like he’s posting the address to encourage nutters to pay them a visit

fromorbit · 26/06/2024 09:00

Agent Maugham is a massive asset to our side. Imagine if the TRAs started employing a competent lawyer as they sometimes do in the US. They might win more cases. He also wastes loads of their money so he can build his bank balance.

Plus he is a one man peaking machine.

CantDealwithChristmas · 26/06/2024 08:57

Yeah he's been like this for a while. He's gone down the Joe Rogan pipeline of ultraliberal to shadowy conspiracy theorist crank.

Privileged men sometimes do this when life doesn't go their way.

Going full on anti-semite is another version of this pipeline, see Owen Jones and Piers Corbyn.

What's the significant of Tufton Street, in Jolyon's tiny mind? Oh don't tell me it's where the pOwErS tHaT bE hold their shadowy conferences in which they move around big money and traffick children underneath pizza parlours. Oh and did you know 9/11 was an inside job, the covid vaccine puts a microchip in your brain and JKR is in the pay of the Ku Klux Klan? It's true, honestly! Wake up sheeple!
