Some good news for a Monday morning.

Feminists in Brighton have secured a place in the Brighton Pride parade to march for lesbian and bisexual visibility.

Excellent that same-sex attracted women can be proud and visible at Pride.

Allies are welcome to join too www.tickettailor.com/events/sisterssalon/1281981?

Well done @SapphosRock. Stay safe and here's to this being the road back to acceptance for single sex attraction

SapphosRock · 25/06/2024 12:03

6 years ago there were a lot of lesbians behind the 'L with the T' counter protest including me.

Most of us now realise what is being taken from us. We've also had 6 years of gleeful AGPs identifying into our lesbian spaces and we've had enough.

sorry! i mixed up the campaigns.... there was a counter campaign that was, indeed, "get the L out" - organised by lesbians who didnt want to be associated with the lgbtq+ community

You’ve got the timeline backwards.

Get the L Out! were the original protest.

L with the T are the reactionaries/counter protesters (and overwhelmingly T, looking at the photos).

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/06/2024 10:00

Hope it goes well and everyone is safe, @SapphosRock

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/06/2024 09:59

That's great, but I can't imagine the TRAs will be happy about it.

Abhannmor · 25/06/2024 09:46

Oh no @DerekFaker 😱

Does this work both ways? Should I be proud and dance on a float for I only put d* in my face?
the ridiculousness is overwhelming
just let ppl be

What is ridiculous? Lesbians at pride?
Self censoring dick is ridiculous. You can say dick here, of cunt if you want.

Maybe you would if women were insisting they were straight men. If you were constantly being accused of being bigoted and transphobic for not giving women oral sex.

That every time you tried to meet a man on a dating app, it would be full of women claiming to be men.

If every, single nightclub, event or group where you used to associate with men was protested or shut down because violent activists cannot bear the thought of straight people simply being straight.

Then maybe you would want to be proud and visible as a straight woman.

No need to be so coy about it we can use the word dick on here without censure

I'm quite nervous for you. I really hope it goes well.

It was "L with the T", not get the L out.

very different focus, very different rhetoric. Its really not fair to mischaracterise a campaign like that, even if you dont agree with it

Just me that finds this exciting then 😂

I think it's a really significant development that women who champion and uphold single sex spaces are able to participate in Pride.

That women in Brighton & Hove can celebrate their same-sex attraction rather than same gender attraction.

It's been 6 years since the Get the L Out protest and I think we've come a long way.

It was "L with the T", not get the L out.

UtilitarianNameChange · 24/06/2024 15:28

A sad but sensible decision by your partner.

Hopefully this will be a safe and fun event and you’ll be able to take your DD along worrywart free next year 🤞

SapphosRock · 24/06/2024 15:14

I am trying not to be a worrywart too. I wanted to bring my young daughter who is really into feminism but my partner has put her foot down and said it's too dangerous.

A sad sign of the times.

UtilitarianNameChange · 24/06/2024 14:20

Wow!

Fingers crossed this signals real change for attitudes in Brighton and beyond (and that you all have a safe and enjoyable day).

I can’t help but wish you were all on a big, high up float rather than marching but that’s my inner worrywart at work. I’ll squash her back down and sit on her!

Great news! Have a wonderful time

MarieDeGournay · 24/06/2024 13:53

proud to support women (and trans identified females)

O tempora! O mores! it took me a frighteningly long period of time - well, a significant number of seconds - to realise that you didn't mean TWAWsConfused
Wishing you a good and safe time at Pride.

SapphosRock · 24/06/2024 13:30

Hi @TooBigForMyBoots and thank you!

@DexaVooveQhodu yes the banners will be pro-woman and pro-lesbian. We will be celebrating same-sex attraction and marching as a community group proud to support women (and trans identified females) in a single sex space.

There is nothing inflammatory or anti-trans about that and Price have rightfully accepted our booking.
