That's a shockingly low number of votes. Even the Monster Raving Loony candidate in Brighton & Hove got 257 votes.

BezMills · 05/07/2024 10:15

you could always phone in and give her a piece of your mind, seeing as you already don't mind giving her clicks and viewtime for gloats.

Drandthemedics · 05/07/2024 10:09

I’m looking forward to her next YouTube rant to see if she has the nerve to say she never loses. If she does, and if her dopey fans keep telling her she’s a queen, then it truly is a cult

CassieSaysGoodbyeTories · 05/07/2024 10:03

True Facts Bez 😂

BezMills · 05/07/2024 10:02

if your posts about her were votes she would have got her deposit back!

CassieSaysGoodbyeTories · 05/07/2024 09:55

She never loses - apart from when it's a deposit

BezMills · 05/07/2024 07:48

thanks for the correction, my bad! The huge swing to green must have been due to other topics. I wanted green in IoW East, I know the candidate personally and she's a legend (same as per the Labour candidate in IoW West, who was elected).
In both cases, I have deep reservations about the leadership and party stance on FWR, but you have to weigh that against the individual MP too.

CharlotteLightandDark · 05/07/2024 07:36

196 I think which is not enough to make a dent in the green majority.

I’m in Bristol East these days but not thrilled with Carla, ah well.

BezMills · 05/07/2024 07:04

KJK only got 176 (if I remember correctly) so the greens won handily, without any help from PoW.

Madcats · 05/07/2024 03:53

Greens won, with a massive swing

Yes, super excited to see what the outcome is. Even if it's Green...

Maybe if the outdoor environment improves in Bristol, more young people will get outside and off the internet, and discover reality in all its glory😂

My 20 year old is voting green, having spent the last few years bemoaning the fact that there is noone to vote for, politics is awful etc etc

I'm happy Greens gave him a way to be engaged and I think diversity of parties in the HoC. Just wish it wasn't Thangam who might lose out because we also need the voices of women like her.

Sausagenbacon · 04/07/2024 16:15

I think Greens would lose just as many votes as Labour on this I.e. not many.
Labour will lose votes because of the gaza issue and people 'wanting a change'.

Yeah that's fair.
I'll be interested in the votes here after watching the hustings.

I think it's a case of agreeing to disagree here - I think that voting PoW if that's what you want is going to make a statement. If we get Greens for 4 years, so be it - maybe Thangam will take to the streets with us to march for women's rights now she's likely to just be a member of the public. Likewise, if Labour still win overall but with less of a majority than they thought then maybe they'll be better at listening to women?

Voting is just one way of making a difference politically - yes it's a big way, but I don't think tactical voting has as much clout as voting for who you actually want.

I also still think it was a very bad choice for KJK to go for this constituency. But I guess she understands her logic.

CassieSaysGoodbyeTories · 04/07/2024 15:54

I couldn't care less how people vote. Just joining in the convo. I know the constituency well so I'm interested.

Omlettes · 04/07/2024 15:54

BackToLurk · 09/06/2024 11:01

That's the quandary isn't it. Do you vote PoW, possibly enabling a Green win, or hold your nose and vote Labour. In a different constituency it might not matter, but Thangham is definitely better for women than Carla. Who do you want voting on these issues in parliament?

Andddd just seen @RebelliousCow said much the same

Edited

I strongly advise TD given its crucial to have sane people in Labour and its a tight seat.

duc748 · 04/07/2024 15:53

Despite weeks of pestering, women on MN just won't do what you want them to, will they, Cassie? Shame about that.

CassieSaysGoodbyeTories · 04/07/2024 15:50

It won't be relevant what Thangam thinks because she will just be a member of the public like you or me.
Unless she gets put in the Lords I guess. But even then she won't be making policy.
This is part of the issue. Women voting PoW to make a point to Labour in Bristol are going to get Green instead. Which is an own goal as Greens are unequivocally TWAW.
Anyway never mind. It looks like Green have the edge anyway tbh.

It won't if Denyer gets voted in instead, will it?

Well if Denyer gets voted in, don't you think Thangam will find it harder to bury her head in the ground?

Anyway, bit late to tell me how to vote now 😛

KJK got my X today. Hoping it'll put a rocket up Thangam's bum to not be such a pansy about the issue of women's rights and perhaps speak up more next time. Felt good not to spoil my ballot at least (which is what I was going to do before).

Why did kjk stand? I thought the whole point of the POW was to shine a light on women’s rights. Where were the great debates? The reports? The sunlight on the issues? All I saw was division and really horrible in fighting

who did you expect to report it? The BBC with their over 70 articles praising Pride this month alone? I did however, see gender repeatedly mentioned on the front page of papers and candidates repeatedly asked questions about this. That wouldn’t have happened without joint efforts from various women’s rights campaigners including KJK.
