I don’t thinking she’s queering very well.

I’d have hoped for at least a ‘Mx’ or something else equally made up and unpronounceable.

I assumed this person was a male person who was trans. Have I assumed incorrectly?

I noticed this with the Harry Potter game from last year too. Fans of JK Rowling would say they would intentionally buy multiple copies as if to make some sort of point they were doing it to "spite" trans people.

It's not the win or "flex" you think it is. JK Rowling is a billionaire and doesn't need any extra royalties from people buying Harry Potter pencil cases and various other stuff with Daniel and Emma's 12 year old faces on it they don't even need or have any use for. She has more money than any of us can imagine or ever use up. Giving money to Rowling would be like pouring a glass of water into the sea to give it a drink.

So go ahead and buy all her stuff, noone cares.

And yet, Rowling also uses those royalties to find Beira’s Place. You know, that place that offers female ONLY support that the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre refuses to provide. And led by women who are not male people who say that traumatised female people should ‘reframe their trauma’ to accept a male person counsellor when they ask for female only.

And she also uses those royalties to fund other charities too. Although, usually I prefer to donate directly to the charity, but every little helps.

Who knows, she may set up more Beira’s Places with the royalties. Not only am I quite comfortable paying for product that pays the creator of something so popular the royalties they deserve, even when they are wealthy. I am doubly so when it is JK Rowling.

Yes, with her ranting style and general lack of facility with the English language, it is rather surprising.

AstonUniversityPotholeDepartment · 07/06/2024 00:47

The most astounding thing here is that the twitter author earns enough from writing to afford moleskine journals.

Much as I'd love to buy one of the limited edition journals out of pure spite, I can't possibly fool myself that it wouldn't be rash.

If I have the right person, they graduated with a BA in 2009 from Yale. Given that most Americans get BAs at 22, that makes them about 37. Chronologically, anyway.

How presumptuous of you. You don't know what age they identify as. Chronological age is so vanilla and cisheteronormative.

lcakethereforeIam · 06/06/2024 23:53

You seem to...

TrainedByCatsToBeScathing · 06/06/2024 23:46

I should thank that xitter I had no idea what to buy as present for Father’s Day and discovered from the link they posted that Moleskine have a wine journal.

I thought I had enough notebooks, but I really need to get a new moleskine.

And then for Leuchtterm to tweet ‘Christ, we don’t want her! Smythson, will you take this one?’

Oh, please let this happen!

I suggested that she should do A-Level English.

CassandraProphesying · 06/06/2024 18:29

That thread is marvellous. All the tagging. All the advertising. Does Barbra Streisand mean nothing to these people? Did she die in vain?
(Apologies to Tony Hancock)

Oh, I get Moleskine planners every year. Was thinking about maybe trying out a different brand, but will stick with them for now 😊

Are their planners any good? I usually keep my life together with the help of Circle Planners but I feel guilty about all the pages that don't get used.

EdithStourton · 06/06/2024 17:54

Chersfrozenface · 06/06/2024 15:04

It MUST be parody? Surely? Surely....?

Edith, Edith, Edith, how could you think that after everything we've seen over the past few years?

Dunno.
Probs just an eternal optimist.

You'd think I'd have learned by now, but no.

They is like the real-world version of Titania McGrath 😂

Sausagenbacon · 06/06/2024 16:33

Up to a point, she exhaustively responded to every tweet. Then flounced, after a dramatic 'rot in hell' to someone who disagreed with her.
How's that for a final line?

NewMe2024 · 06/06/2024 16:18

I want one.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/06/2024 16:12

Redshoeblueshoe · 06/06/2024 10:48

Yeah but you are - it's actually in your name.
I am a sock, and I get my weekly paychecks from the far right, or is it the far left, I can never quite remember

Arse....

Name change fail!

Is this better?

I think even Poundland wouldn't want to be associated with this loon

Igmum · 06/06/2024 15:29

Gosh, they/thems is a very disturbed little Queerlet. I'd never heard of this company, or of Leuchturm, but I've now learned a new and terrible threat and am off to do some googling.

Anyway, I went to buy one for DD for Christmas and ended up buying a second one for a birthday.

Result. I wouldn't have been aware of them without this thread. Grin

I’m thinking at this stage that this is not a sensible Xitter user.

That is priceless.
