Labour are all talk. They spent their last term in office blaming everything on the Tories for years and years. That was because they had f*-all ideas of their own. Having gone round smarming up to potential voters and saying what those voters wanted (“Yes, yes, and we’ll all have jam for tea”), they got in and realised they had no idea what to do.

Starmer is as dynamic as a sunken soufflé and a waste of space. They’ll concentrate on gender idiocy because they’ll see that as an easy win and it requires no real thinking or understanding or planning, just platitudes and ‘being kind’ - although not kind to women, of course.

There’s no way on this earth I’m voting for a party that thinks I’m some kind of subhuman or an adequate non-man prone to a shrill voice, dinosaur views and hoarding my own bloody rights (fuck off, Lammy!)!

If all women voted Tory, gender crap would not only disappear, every other party would change their views.( Except perhaps the Green Party, my old party, who are, sad to say, beyond hope.) There’d then be another early GE and we could vote for whom we actually wanted to once the other parties have sat up and taken notice. Then we can sort education, finance, etc etc.

Boiledbeetle · 22/05/2024 18:27

I just opened my emails and there's Keir Starmer with his "this is the moment we've been working towards" and I realised without a shadow of a doubt I CANNOT VOTE LABOUR.

I just cant!

Can I just say that if you are going to write anything on your ballot papers, do not do it across the actual voting boxes. It could be counted as having made a mark and you can inadvertently cast your vote.

This happened when I was witnessing a count. Someone had drawn a cock and balls and written 'knob' against one of the candidates, and it was argued that this was a mark and the vote was cast. I highly doubt that it was the voter's intention to vote for that candidate.

Thanks - I was thinking of trying to nearly squeeze in a line as though it was part of the ballot slip.

But can see I could inadverntently appear to tick someone.

Oh god!

Let the games commence.

Have just remembered we know have the Party of Women.

I could write that in on my ballot.

Even given KJK energy and organisational skills, I doubt she can get candidates into every constituency.

Phew - something to look forward to. Grin

The last one was where it would actually change things. The rest they can’t afford.

The last one, trade - the EU will only change anything if it is in the interests of the bloc and its members. Otherwise, we can go whistle.

Totally

Labour ruled out SM or CU a couple of years ago

I would have taken an interest in that. Instead we’ll have Self ID and trafficking

BlackeyedSusan · 22/05/2024 18:09

Labour has been banging on about "fiscal responsibility" no unfunded spending. Sticking with the conservative budget for now. There's not a lot of room for things to change fiscally. Ukraine, COVID, have buggered up the finances. The conservatives paid people lots of money to support them and businesses through COVID and this has left a hole in the budget.

Yes, Liz Truss buggered things up spectacularly and Boris was a nightmare . Bloody glad they've gone. Couldn't stand them. But choosing between fairly similar fiscal policy and the loss of women's rights... I'm worried we'll lose our right to single sex spaces. As a disabled parent of disabled children I am worried about that as dd is very vulnerable and needs protection from predatory males.

Amazing news, bring on anyone but the tories.

About time, bring it on!
Here's to the back of the Tories, hope to be waving "see ya!" at them

Floisme · 22/05/2024 18:07

At least I'll finally get to see Labour's manifesto. Does anyone know when they're likely to come out?

This is the time to get our message across. Attend hustings, question candidates, maximise pressure.

In Scotland women's rights are going to have a huge impact on the election because the SNP are in deep decline because a bunch of pesky woman took them on.

It can happen elsewhere, but it depends on people teaming up and taking local action in their constituency.

Even if Labour are going to win it is VITAL that they get the impression that a lot of people are ready to fight endlessly for women's rights. Ask them the difficult questions.

OldCrone · 22/05/2024 18:03

I cannot wait for a new government and hopefully the UK looking less like absolute imbeciles on the world stage.

You think that having a Prime Minister who thinks that some women have penises won't make us look like imbeciles?

EasternStandard · 22/05/2024 18:00

Chersfrozenface · 22/05/2024 17:57

Good luck with that.

Realistically, what are Labour going to change?

Education? Free breakfast clubs, mental health support, more teachers - if they can find the money and attract the teachers.

The NHS? Their big idea is to ask NHS to work weekends.

Trade? Ask the EU to make things easier for the UK, despite not being willing to join the Single Market or a customs union.

The last one was where it would actually change things. The rest they can’t afford

So not much there bar gender and trafficking on top

Oh well, people are excited about it, looks like it needs to be gone through to see how they pan out

raspberryjamjar · 22/05/2024 17:59

Am looking forward to them door knocking me so I can ask them what a woman is.

Lordy, I'm finding it very weird how MN reads like a single issue site over anything political. I'm fiercely gender critical but I cannot understand for the life of me why any informed woman thinks that is more important that the absolute state of our country in terms of leadership around the economy, the environment, and the lack of social contract that we are seeing all around us.

Women make up 51% of the population.

And, lest we forget, 100% of the population was carried and born by a woman.

Issues affecting women should be the concern of every single person who has a Mum, sister, daughter, aunt, grandma, niece or a female friend...

BlackeyedSusan · 22/05/2024 17:55

I spend quite a lot of time listening to politics...

That's why I am worried that Labour isn't going to change much economically.

Nobody is saying it is the only issue, and cant believe you think there is any one on other issues who is more competent.

We look like imbeciles because our political system caters for or pushes people to act in imbecilic ways.

Yep. Hoping for a bit longer. Just so scared about Mr 99% of women don't have a penis..Starmer

Dreading all that

I’m inclined to let the people who vote for it deal with the gender rot

I was hoping that it would be a bit longer.

I thought they would wait to the autumn, but in fact I think they have given in to the media, who just derail any issue into making it about when will they call an election.

And most people (though heavens know why) seem to think "we need a change".

I was hoping that it would be a bit longer. I don’t like this government but the wheels seem to be falling off the trans bus and I was hoping that would be a bit further along before the GE. Labour would then be forced properly to face up to the reality of this ideology in time so as not to implement harmful changes. I guess we have to buckle up and keep fighting the nonsense.

Who the fuck should I vote for?? Doesn't feel right to not vote. Absolutely could not bring myself to vote for Tories after the last 14 years of shite. Everyone else is going to chuck women under a bus 🤷‍♀️
