Going back to the OP, isn't this publicity for the Trevor Project, and is Radcliffe saying he was involved with them for how long? In what capacity? Is he being paid to promote them?

I remember the original statement very clearly - it was my "peaking" moment.

Up til then I'd been trying very hard to figure out how to believe this ridiculous but "kind" thing that I'd been told I must believe. But hearing a young man apologise for the opinions of a wise woman (opinions on BEING A WOMAN) just filled me with pure rage.

Once you've publicly held a very TWAW position I think it must be almost impossible to come back from. JKR has made it very clear that she's not going to forgive all, and welcome them back with open arms.

Absolute nonsense.

The Nazis targetted specific groups: Jews, Romani, Communists, gay men and people with disabilities were the largest. They did not pass laws removing the civil rights from crossdressers, transvestites or transgender people, and there is evidence that many prominent Nazis engaged in this behaviour behind closed doors. Every single person who's been identified as trans in modern terms (and it's important to state this - the modern concept of trans identity didn't exist in the 1930s and 1940s) who was targetted by the Nazis was targetted for one or more of the foregoing characteristics, and the numbers involved are tiny. JKR was pointing this out, not denying that some gender nonconforming people died in the Holocaust.

He is entitled to his own opinions sure, but I think that some loyalty would be appropriate given how much hate and demonisation she got.

So he doesn't have to agree with her, but he could have been speaking out to defend her right to speak and say that sections of the trans lobby were way too hostile. Assuming that's his genuine opinion of course.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't notice him doing much to stand up for free speech and civil debate over the issue.

Slight derail to clear up any misunderstandings about trans people being 'targeted' in the Holocaust. The sad fact is that many of the most powerful Nazis were in fact cross dressers (and therefore trans according to Stonewall).

So let me get this right: a few holier than thou (went it suits them) posters have come here to lecture other posters for mostly taking the piss out of former child actor/benefactor of nepotism, not-exactly-Brain-of-Britain, Daniel Radcliffe? But also have come here to scold women for "idolising" JKR who is literally Hitler. So far, so predictable yawns

I thought Radcliffe was rather good in that recent Sandra Bullock comedy. Not seen him in anything else, tbf, including Harry Potter because I don't like Harry Potter and I don't really get adults who do. But lets not go there/Each to their own etc

See, TRAs: it IS possible to hold two different thoughts about someone in your head at the same time.

What I think about Potter has nothing to do with my admiration of JKR. Daniel's limited acting career holds little interest to me but he does come across as a bit of an insincere dimster from what I've read here.

I feel that the statement "trans women are women" erases the identity and dignity of women, who actually need and are allowed to have words and spaces for themselves which don't include members of the opposite sex.

It's very notable that Radcliffe simply said "no comment" to the women's rights angle. He's made it clear who he cares about, and it's not women.

Yeah nobody cares if women's identity is erased. Budge up, wifies, the men want in!
