Just as the title says really! Is that your only thought about who you'll vote for, or will you look at wider policies? Been getting lots of information through my letter box recently, and none mention it.

Yes.

If someone can lie about whether humans can change sex or not, they are either an idiot, a coward, or both. I can't vote for someone who is unable to be clear on the issue, or willing to allow children to be harmed because they haven't the guts to be clear and speak up.

Yes. It has directly impacted my voting, or lack of it, here in NI over the last elections. I will not be compelled to deny observable reality or ignore child safeguarding. Deny reality and I won't trust you to run a bath let than know a country.

Nope

Yes I am.

People talking about the greater good, do you understand this is exactly what Labour are banking on?

That women will put others first to their own disadvantage. Convince themselves and others to self sacrifice.

You do realise threads like this will be looked at by the parties and frankly I think even if your intention is to vote Labour regardless you're a fool for saying it before an election.

We need to hold their feet to the fire now so that Starmer removes the splinters from his arse and actually acknowledges what a woman is - post Cass it's unbelievable that he's still giving evasive answers on this topic.

I'm a former Labour member and I don't trust them one iota over this issue.

I'm done trying to effect change from within and then spoiling my ballot. I'm voting Tory for the first time in my life for my GC Conservative candidate (and not the TWAW Labour MP) and I don't give a shiny shit if others think I should consider a bigger picture. I've done that for near 8 years now, so it's time to send a message they might listen to in a marginal consistency (and many of my local "lefty" GC friends feel the same way).

The ONLY reason I would vote Labour is if I was in Rosie Duffield's constituency.

YES.

I’m a former Labour member too. I’ve only ever voted for Labour before.

This time, if Starmer doesn’t right his wrongs, acknowledge Cass, apologise to RD and others he may have offended, and state that he understands biological sex- I’m voting Tory.

They understand biological sex and aren’t putting VAT on education.

YesHesAPlonker · 30/04/2024 22:19

I will vote for the CANDIDATE who best represents my views, on a range of issues.

My constituency is a straight Tory / Lib Dem fight, always has been. Lib Dem for years now Tory. Tory candidate is sound on women's rights, last time the Lib Dems fielded a TWAW candidate and got trounced, this time they have chosen a well liked local councillor.

If I could be convinced he was sound on women's rights issues he would get my vote... I always used to vote lib dem to keep the Tories out - but of course it's impossible to get a straight answer from him because his party is totally captured.

No.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 30/04/2024 21:49

No. Whilst I am very much invested in being on the right side of history re the Trans debate, I also really really care about education, health, housing, schools, older age people, working people. Voting on a single issue gets us nowhere as a society

Yes, it is the most important issue for me, and I will vote for whichever major party gives a satisfactory answer or spoil my ballot.

I cannot believe some people are taking this blurring of the edges of an oppressed class so lightly.

I'm not taking it lightly, but after 14 years of austerity, and the country on its knees in every respect under this shambolic corrupt govt, I have other more pressing priorities.

I ve voted Tory many times in the past, Thatcher Major, i quite liked Cameron though i did vote LD in 2010.. all far more moderate than the current Tory party.

I understand the TWAW issues but its simply not enough for me n my DD (who is NHS) to even consider the Conservatives.

They ve wrecked everything, poverty DV health and dentistry all worse than in 2010.
They can't even keep tabs on migrants and failed to deport a known isis fighter from Libya and he went on to kill 3 people in Reading, shocking dereliction of duty.

Wales isn't even a separate country, so i don't understand why people bring them into it, they are very much controlled by what Westminster decides & they cannot be that bad, the Welsh have voted Lab back for over 25 years.

A lot of people in Wales would vote for a traffic cone if it was wearing a red rosette.

Iop · 30/04/2024 20:25

@Pieceofpurplesky nails it for me:

Whilst the trans issue is an issue - the issue of women trying to survive day to day is much more important to me.

"Trying to survive" sums up life for so many women under the Tories. I've historically voted Tory (once!), Labour, and Green, but I'll be warily voting Labour in this GE.

DuesToTheDirt · 30/04/2024 20:22

I'm not voting purely on "the transgender issue"; I do have other priorities. However, women's rights are a line in the sand for me, and I will not vote for a candidate or a party that tells me men can be women.

AutumnCrow · 30/04/2024 20:14

Maybe that's what we need. The SIX WORDS CAMPAIGN.

'Sex is immutable and it matters'. Can you say it?

AutumnCrow · 30/04/2024 20:11

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/04/2024 20:05

If You genuinely care for women and children you can't possibly vote for the Tory party. They have damaged the lives of children for the last 14 years and a few words to win votes mean absolutely nothing .

So why won't Keir Starmer admit reality and say the words 'sex is immutable and it matters', and get all those extra votes and a stonking majority and the latitude to carry out reforms for the good of the ALL the country?

Six words.

It's about trust. And not feeling like a down-trodden helpmeet class.

Who can we vote for then?

Which party cares about women and children?

Cofaki · 30/04/2024 20:04

Yes I am. It's vitally important and overshadows everything else for me. I live in a safe Tory seat so they would get in here anyway so it's about making a statement for me.

AhNowTed · 30/04/2024 20:01

aberamagold · 30/04/2024 16:18

I certainly won’t vote for anyone who says some women have a penis, because that means they’re either an idiot or a coward.

I may have to vote Tory (for the first time in over 40 years), despite all the corruption and incompetence, if they are the only Party standing against the nonsense.

The Tories are "standing" for nothing on this. Zero.

Words. That's all you have.

Meanwhile their actual record of action has done sweet FA for women for the past 14 years.

Nothing for women. Nothing for children.

In fact far more children are in poverty since they took power.

And an off the charts growth in food banks.

fabricstash · 30/04/2024 19:50

And I will look at all issues

fabricstash · 30/04/2024 19:50

It's not the transgender issue it is about recognising women and children. Anyway not sure if I can bring myself to vote labour

JoJothegerbil · 30/04/2024 19:49

No. I'll be voting tactically to get rid of the Tories. Another 4 years of this clusterfuck drag the country down even further, if that's even possible.

FlakyPoet · 30/04/2024 19:46

All that Keir Starmer has to do is say sex is immutable and it matters. Job done. Why can't he?

Because he has entered into a bargain with the extremists in the party I would imagine. “I will keep the door open to enable self-ID by not saying sex is immutable, if you pretend that you care about child safeguarding, women’s rights and free speech long enough to get labour elected”.

AutumnCrow · 30/04/2024 19:39

Keir, mate, my vote is yours to lose. Just SAY IT. 'Sex is immutable and it matters'.

AutumnCrow · 30/04/2024 19:38

I'm still agog that posters consider women's rights, material reality, free speech, the vilification of heretical MPs, the disregard of healthcare principles and the consequential harming of children, the decimation of sports, the gender blundering in the prison service, the mangling of language generally but particularly in our institutions and thrust upon a generation of kids in their schooling a single issue?

withdrawing from the ECHR

This is an issue of fundamental human rights and of my expectation to live in a society which recognises and upholds the basic human rights of women and girls, and which upholds safeguarding for children.

So I don't regard it as a ' single issue' but a fundamental human rights issue

While I'm tempted to add 'aqueducts, sanitation and education' (and why not?) and 'world peace, Stan', I think the comments above from pp encapsulate the importance of NOT framing the human rights of women and children as a 'single issue'.

All that Keir Starmer has to do is say sex is immutable and it matters. Job done. Why can't he? It's basic analytical class principle. It's common fucking sense.
