Shocking interview on BBC Radio Scotland this morning. . Interviewee passionate about stopping his 10-year-old daughter’s puberty after deciding she was a boy before she could talk.

It's shocking, it's gaslighting. Bbc should be safeguarding children. WTF?

Thats a new take on the erm scientific rational for believing in being born in the wrong body. It’s reincarnation syndrome!!!. Why of course never thought about that before.

I once met someone in school who believed he was Winston Churchill in a previous life. Until someone pointed out Winston was still alive when he was born.

Just like GI can be debunked, so can reincarnation, with simple logic. There are not enough souls to fill all the available bodies being born!!! You know that population growth thingy.

Makes me think of Stephen Hawkins on time travel. He said if it were true then we would be bumping in to people from the future and past all the time. Did not need a complex mathematical formula generated in academia to kill that idea.

Toseland · 22/04/2024 09:19

When my son was 5ish he had an idea that he was going to own a hotel for animals, he would tell me all about it, in great detail, every night before bed for over a year.
I asked him when he was 11 about the animal hotel - he had absolutely no recollection of it!

Copying out that tweet thread:

'I am an educated atheist and scientist. I brought my first two up reasonably gender neutral, wearing/playing everyrhing. My third was born and there's no easy way

to say this, he ran by 9 months and spoke fluently from a year, he shouted he was a boy from his first words. He tore his clothes off and put on my husbands clothes and his brothers clothes EVERYDAY. He screamed looking in the mirror. Thats not all. He talked about his other life

a lot. He had been a man, he said, he had sometimes beaten people up. He loved his son and his wife and his dog Roastbeef that had died in hot pipes. I really did not believe in reincarnation and this scared the crap out of me. I didnt know how to deal with it. When i said it was

dream he got upset and angry. I just said well everythings okay now and hugged him and that worked. He could not have come up with this or seen anything weird on tv he was sp young. I started to watch tv progs about kids with past lives and those with near death experiences...

I think now our conciousness is an energy of its own that continues and has had other experiences. I believe ypu dont normally remember so much, if any, of previous existences. Maybe a place, a feeling, maybe your gender. If you remember your previous gender its who you are

So someone telling you, tough youre a girl now is as MAD and crazy as anyone waking up tomorrow in a body of the opposite sex and everyone telling them they've got it wrong. Can you imagine how that feels? You would fight against it and try to look like your had your whole life.

Anyway, thats what I really do think. We dont know everything and ultimately we need to listen to peoples own lived experiences and protect and nurture them. Happiness is the key. Lets make each other happy. #TransRightsAreHumanRights'

Look, monsters aren’t real but trans kids are real. Imagine nobody listening to you when you feel something so so much. Conversations and a lot of understanding from parents is what’s needed.
do you not think that kids can be trans?

there's so such thing as a "trans kid"

HoneyButterPopcorn · 22/04/2024 07:59

it’s just mind blowing that these people have become so emboldened and feted for their beliefs that they believe they can go on national tv with this. Is no one in this persons life/community not willing/able to call a spade a spade?

How did we get here?

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 21/04/2024 23:46

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows this is child abuse.

I can understand why society is happy to marginalise women with this stuff because that's the way it always was, but why are they throwing children to the wolves too?

BloodyHellKenAgain · 21/04/2024 23:30

Sadly there have always been people who wanted to cause children harm. In the past these people were derided. For reasons I don't fully understand now they are being publicly cheered on by certain sections of the media/politicians.

what would be the point? They would only rush round with some dodgy "medicine" in a rainbow box and a pamphlet on "My first surgery".

Sad but true.

The mother believes in reincarnation and thinks the child was a boy in a previous life…

Fucking hell.

She says her child was 'born sexist'?

Where does one even start.

ArtfullyCrumpled · 21/04/2024 18:34

Oh my god Bitchard is the mother!! Thank you for joining the dots. The poor child. Grim.

A tweet about a 10-year old, planning top surgery a double mastectomy when the child reaches 18? Shock The whole thing is beyond outrageous.

DuesToTheDirt · 21/04/2024 20:55

I'm not sure why anyone is bothering to argue with someone who a) evidently has no experience of being around small children and b) thinks that People do change sex.

lonelywater · 21/04/2024 19:31

JanesLittleGirl · 21/04/2024 18:54

I only have one question. Why haven't the parents been referred to Social Services?

cognitive scientists have known for a really long time that children don’t know whether they are male or female until just before their third birthday. When they hit three they can then categorise people as men and women and appreciate gender stereotypes (dresses are for girls , etc). There is absolutely no way a pre verbal child would be able to express yet they were really a boy , because a pre verbal child doesn’t even have that concept yet. So these parents are saying things which are just false and show it’s something they’ve projected onto this child. It’s like saying your baby is upset at being labelled a commoner so must really be royalty- they have no clue what these words or concepts mean.

I also saw on Twitter the mother has come out saying her child is a boy because she likes to play sports and all her friends are male , and this just gives me the creeps. When I was a kid I remember being the only girl in football club and playing with boys in the playground. If I were a child today I could be so easily transed !

So much wrong in there it's hard to know where to start. An atheist that believes in reincarnation? Sure. A boy in a previous life? Sure. (In the next life won't they be saying they were a girl in a previous life? Which life is the determining 'life' when it comes to what sex you really are? So many questions! Must be a real headache to work that into law!)

"My son has lived his entire life male", well yes, that's how 'being male' and 'being female' works. I think this is factually untrue, though.

Really good to let them speak.... would be good if they were ever asked to address the multiple inconsistencies that appear in even a few sentences.

#OperationLetThemSpeak is doing wonders again.

For those of us in the reality-based community, I find myself thinking back a mere (say) decade or so. If a really fervent forceful-sounding angry adult human male had been complaining so publicly about his child being born a female, everybody (including TRSOHers) would have seen exactly what was going on.

Boombatty · 21/04/2024 06:21

Or just kids who are uncomfortable with their developing bodies and are persuaded into thinking that if they don't conform to rigid and outdated sex stereotypes there must be something wrong with them. Particularly those who are neurodiverse or homosexual.

How do TRAs explain the overrepresentation of autism in teenage girls who think they are trans?

mach2 · 21/04/2024 03:50

Do you think trans kids don’t exist?

They don't. The Trans Kid is needed by gender ideologues to prop up the notion that everyone has an innate gendered soul.

There are children with sex dysphoria, which mostly resolves.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 21/04/2024 02:08

@Pitta567 Monsters do exist. But maybe we have different definitions just like “trans kids”. I find that label unhelpful as you’re constraining children and also lumping children together who have various reasons for feeling and acting as they do. I also don’t think that a middle aged man who comes out as trans has anything in common with a young girl who does and so the term trans is meaningless at this stage.

Even for arguments sake if it were true that people could be born in the wrong body, do you not see how silly it is to think a child who was under one would understand the difference between boys and girls and be trying to communicate about it?

If I said my 4 month old was trying to tell me he was gay as he was getting upset at being read stories of prince and princesses living happily ever after would you be homophobic to think that wasn’t true and in fact quite odd to think that way about such a young child?

songaboutjam · 21/04/2024 00:32

When I was about 9, I was very easily influenced by the books I read. I wanted to be like George from the Famous Five. I had short hair, wore nothing girly and beamed when people thought I was a boy. I even strung along a group of other kids (all boys) into thinking I was a boy too, because I didn't want them to treat me differently. I vehemently hated pink and found girliness personally offensive. I was furious at the idea of having to be a yucky mother (I apologise to all mothers on behalf of child me) and rejected the idea of having kids.

I didn't know it then, but I had a common ND condition that is severely underdiagnosed in girls and women and overrepresented at gender identity clinics.

Puberty, as it turns out, resolved most of my issues (although I did later go through a nonbinary thing that lasted a single day). I'm happy being a woman, I'm much more aware of how much influence books and "queer theory" have had on me, I no longer reject femininity out of hand, and I have a healthy relationship with my body. As much as I hated puberty, I'm glad I went through it and got it over with.

Needanewname42 · 21/04/2024 00:32

OMG poor child.
And poor other children who have also been gaslit along the way.
A 10 year old having been told they have girl parts but are really a boy their entire life.

Surely the parents should be investigated for child abuse?
I bet the teachers and everyone else they came into contact with knew it was parent rather than child driven.

Pallisers · 21/04/2024 00:28

Oh and my son became a dog from ages 2-7 when he was stressed. He wasn't actually a dog.

Pallisers · 21/04/2024 00:27

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 22:00

That’s just your opinion. Others might say that children’s views should be respected especially if it’s causing them to be upset. You have absolutely no basis to say that the child was gaslit. Zero!
are you saying that children who are trans should not be taken seriously? Maybe you don’t know about the amount of trans kids that actually take their own lives

right so if my child is upset I should let her be rendered infertile and unable to orgasm for her entire adult life - just so I can avoid upsetting a ten year old.

I've dealt with mental health issues, self-harming, and suicidal ideation with one of my children. I had to make choices about medication that seemed to offer a fix but had long term effects. I know what you have to do. It is hard and relentless. Choosing a quick fix that harms your child irreparably because you believe that girls can be turned into boys (no they can't) is not good parenting. Not good health care.
