Labour infighting over trans issues reignited by Cass Review

But Rosie Duffield, a Labour MP placed under investigation by the party last year for campaigning against gender ideology, pointed out that women who had exposed the scandal had been “blanked, sidelined and dismissed” by male leaders simply for speaking up.

And feminist Julie Bindel demanded an apology from Mr Streeting for failing to support her gender-critical views when he was president of the National Union of Students.

In reply to Ms Bindel’s accusation, Mr Streeting replied: “From memory (16 years on, so correct me if I’m wrong!) I replied to confirm that you weren’t on NUS’ no platform policy and as this was in relation to a motion passed by the autonomous women’s campaign I was not empowered to overturn it (not least as a male president!).”

This prompted Ms Duffield to retweet the (Les Streeting) statement, with the message: “To the many women blanked, sidelined, dismissed by male leaders when speaking up and exposing this for years.”

And Ms Bindel wrote: “Glad to see you are now openly critical of the gender ideology that led to the atrocities against children outlined in the Cass report.

“I am open to accepting an apology from you. In 2008, when you were NUS president, I was no-platformed alongside five fascist groups for ‘transphobia’.

“I contacted you and asked for your help. You gave none. I asked you to condemn those that had orchestrated the no-platforming, and you refused.

“Have you any idea of the reputational damage this caused me? How it gave others permission to no-platform, denounce and defame me?
“How it meant that I could be slandered by other organisations, and so many, many universities around the UK and elsewhere? If this sounds bitter then good, because I am.”

To this message, Ms Duffield said: “Thank you for leading us all here Julie. Without you, most of us wouldn’t have had a clue what had been happening to children who were far too young to have the critical faculties or agency to consent.”

And so drunk they can't work out very basic typos or remember what they typed 2 minutes previously. That's properly hammered is that!

Beefcurtains79 · 13/04/2024 07:27

What kind of poster gets drunk on a Friday night and their first impulse is to come onto a feminism thread, on mumsnet, a predominantly female website to try and goad, crow and argue with women about lost access to rape supports?
Answers on a postcard.

What "hideous allegations" are you talking about?? I'm sticking to facts Confused

That would be a first 😂

pickledandpuzzled · 13/04/2024 06:49

The ideology is misogynistic. Anyone who doesn’t reject the ideology is a misogynist.

The ideology is a safeguarding nightmare. Anyone who supports the ideology is a safeguarding nightmare.

People who cannot tell the truth, who cannot process simple facts, cannot be trusted with positions of power.

Why would someone who thinks women can have a penis, make a good leader? He might think money grows on trees, or global warming is a conspiracy.

I’m bloody disappointed May fell for it all. Shows how successful the grooming was.

"Friday drunk, not capable of arguing on internet"
What's your excuse for the rest of the time?

Labour have not been in power for almost 15 years - any action to "remove all protections for them as a sex class" happened under the Tories.

It's very clear you want a conservative government, just own it instead of smearing the opposition.

Why aren’t His Majesty’s Opposition opposing the harms to women caused by various consecutive Coalition and Conservative Governments?

Thankfully Boris seems to have undone a lot of May’s TRA stuff and Sunak has continued down the same path (hence the Cass Review actually happening) but commissioning for post rape support services in Brighton will have been carried out by Labour and the Greens.

We're not even close to the end of the first chapter.

Labour grassroots are held in a vise-like grip by those who robotically chant: Trans men are men. Trans women are women. Trans rights are human rights.

There's no critical thinking involved. That's the problem with Labour. And those activists aren't going to have a Damascene conversion just because someone's written a report.

Although this is still concerning

EasternStandard · 13/04/2024 00:13

My fear was that we’d get the no one is talking about it line up until the GE, it dismisses the concerns of women and makes it hard to effect change.

I don’t think that can be said now due to Cass and for that I’m relieved and grateful

It hopefully will shift the landscape considerably and protecting children is what I’d prioritise so I’m really happy to see it. I know there’s a way to go still generally but it really helps.

the last election I voted Lib Dem as they were entirely pro remain, Corbyn being a Marxist was a Brexit supporter and as a result Labour refused to back a remain policy.
This is just like the referendum days. Again Labour sitting on the fence about issues that affect the majority of the population and held hostage by a small number of zealots
nothing has changed and don't expect labour to back women's and children's rights.

I'm not going to engage with Adam any more tonight. It seems unkind to someone in that state.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2024 23:55

It's a fucking typo, I meant 'then'. It's bloody obviously a typo.

Again, answering something which isn't there. My comment was about you denying having said something you just had. You then edited that post.

Edited

What? What is "you them"?

literalviolence · 12/04/2024 23:53

AdamRyan · 12/04/2024 23:50

Oh get a grip
I don't agree with you. That's OK. It does not mean I'm a "collective", a bot, a shill or anything else.

Her point clearly is not that you don't agree it's that you are all over the place, not following a basic thread of conversation, saying things then denying you've said them. Honestly and kindly, I think you should stop posting. You don't seem in a fit state to. You can come and defend Kier to your hearts content tomorrow and maybe you will do so with enough sense to convince someone then.

I am not aggressive. Disagreement is not aggression

Disagreement does not have to be aggressive. Telling someone that they just want a conservative government then denying you said that. is aggressive IMO.

They're not even following their own posts, let alone anyone else's!

Is Adam a collective of people, which is why they can't recall their 'own' posts?!

Sorry. I'm pissed and I don't know what this means:
women are not denied rape supports

Confused

It literally has an extra 's'.

@literalviolence said: 'You said that women are not denied rape support,' (removing the extra 's'). That is not hard to understand. She disagrees with you.

AdamRyan · 12/04/2024 23:49

literalviolence · 12/04/2024 23:46

Yes you did Adam. Yes you bloody did. And yes I'm triggered by your aggressive argumentative disrespectful and fact free style. Stop putting words in my mouth. it's a shit thing to do.

I am not aggressive. Disagreement is not aggression

literalviolence · 12/04/2024 23:48

I can't explain things to a drunk person..Read this all back when you're sober. It's not complicated. Top tip. Read the whole sentence nor just parts of it.

literalviolence · 12/04/2024 23:44

Good god are you following this at all? you said that women are not denied rape supports
That's blatantly false. I'm responding to what you're saying. It might help if you tried to do the same.
