Just flagging this up.

Cass review has been the headline news on today

I disagree that the medical pathway will be the right way for ANY child.
Plus the follow up question to that statement is : how do you distinguish the child for who a medical pathway is the best pathway from all the others?

As she says, brain development in puberty is a huge issue and it isn't known what the effect of blocking that is. As she says, the research isn't there. Obtaining that research presumably will mean giving this treatment to children for who this isn't the best pathway.

It just has to stop. All (gender related) medical treatments for all children have to stop.

(Obviously not referring to medical treatments for other issues, for clarification).

Woman2023 · 10/04/2024 07:51

Shame that she thinks some children should be put on a medical pathway sooner rather than later. What gave her that idea? What evidence?

crumpet · 10/04/2024 07:49

Good that Cass was given enough time to speak without endless interruptions

WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:47

They've read out Javid's comment in the times that the lobby groups need to be kept at bay.

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:45

Has this been a medical scandal?

"That's for someone else to make a decision about."

'My concern is to get the right level of care and the evidence base.'

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:44

Back to the concern about permanent changes.

Cass saying there may be a small number of people who will use a medical pathway "sooner rather than later."

Private clinics - Cass has concerns that they're not giving the level of care and assessment

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:43

What is going to happen to all the children who are on waiting lists and no chance for pbs?

Cass - sorry to hear about that story

There's a lack of work force.

I can’t find the newspaper headlines round up on BBC online (not the Today problem, the one where they take pictures of the front pages). I can only find yesterday’s. Is todays up yet?

LizzieSiddal · 10/04/2024 07:43

Private clinic concerns

WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:42

"I went through full course of male puberty."

OP posts:
Glenthebattleostrich · 10/04/2024 07:42

they've done better than bbc breakfast then. the headline was about the toxic debate (without actually mentioning that the report says clinicians are to afraid tp speak out), the main piece about a trans identified male and a tiny bit on Kiera Bell.

WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:42

Now interview with TW who wasn't seen by nhs due to waiting lists

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:41

Good long q from Justin about pressure on clinicians

Cass feels everyone was trying their best

Lack of reflection due to being the only centre

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:40

Gids started a trial but deviated - Cass says she thinks they felt they were coming their best, but when initial results were released it showed the opposite

It's very unusual to prescribe life changing drugs without evidence base.

So need to know how pathways develop into adult good, including psych therapies

It's significant that it's Hugh Pym as he's the health correspondent.

Oh the subject is finally worthy of a health correspondent and NOT an ideology/ identitarian correspondent?

The BBC might wish to reflect on this and the concept of bias.

WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:38

Cass clarifying exactly what pbs are really for.

Highlights the rapid period of brain development in teens and we don't know the impacts that pbs have there

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:38

Clinicians worried that if they did the usual assessments they'd be accused for not immediately affirming gender.

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:37

With additional problems - which has been bypassed due to toxicity.

Clinics have been passed onto GIDs asap.

(This is what prof Michele Moore was talking about years ago.)

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:36

Notes that pbs are still being prescribed in Scotland and private clinics.

Cass interview starts by focusing on the huge increase in girls

OP posts:
WarriorN · 10/04/2024 07:35
