❤️ JKR ❤️ What a hero. She is the absolute fucking business.

Jo, THANK YOU.

afternoonoflife · 02/04/2024 20:39

Saw that thread and smelt a rat with a penis.

Grin brilliant phrase @justasking111

Witcheroo · 02/04/2024 20:23

This has made me so happy today.

misscockerspaniel · 02/04/2024 19:49

Want to know what a woman is? This is what a woman is. JKR is a fearless lioness. #teamJKR

aweegc · 02/04/2024 19:45

I've loved watching her take this on. Utterly brilliant!

And since Monday, yesterday, Police Scotland have received 3000 complaints! I'm sure I rem her them saying on R4 that they have already determined to look at every single complaint! Bet they weren't thinking of 3k on Day 1 🤣.

TeaGinandFags · 02/04/2024 19:39

Boiledbeetle · 02/04/2024 18:15

They also know if they had gone after even one tweet she'd have probably bankrupted the Scottish Government and Police Scotland by the end of the court case!

She can empty the coffers simply by moving.

Dadjokes by any chance?

Faircats...(or Tom...) isn't it just exhausting though ? I put my two pence worth in but I'm tired already, one crazy world.

Dadjokes by any chance?

Read out her tweet to DH just now. He's a fan of hers too and said she'd played a blinder.

Sadly their are other posts on Mumsnet already trying to turn this on it's head, claiming women will now be victimized more, posted I'm sure by a man, but not the obvious sort, the sort that want to get into the ladies toilets...

Dadjokes by any chance?

theatremachine · 02/04/2024 19:05

I love her so much. She says everything I can't because of my profession. It kills me that I worry about even clicking like on one of her tweets in case the wrong person draws the wrong conclusions.

I worry there may be a lone nutter out there. I hope her security is beyond top-notch.

She is an exceptional human.

DialSquare · 02/04/2024 19:03

Game, Set and Match!

heathspeedwell · 02/04/2024 19:00

She is every bit as amazing and brave as one of the best characters from her books.

Funny that.

Good.

Riapia · 02/04/2024 18:51

The woman that will never be silenced.
Joanne speaks for her fellow women.
What a wonderful woman.

nothingcomestonothing · 02/04/2024 18:42

Justnot · 02/04/2024 17:37

It makes it nice and clear that you can call a man a man (well hopefully I guess we have to wait and see a bit) cos we all know how confused everyone is

Which the Scottish government were meant to do. They were mean to give real life examples of how the law worked, eg that correctly sexing 'misgendering' someone wouldn't be against the law. The decided not to, because it'd cause anTRA tantrum and only help out women. Murray Blackburn Mackenzie wrote about it.

And now JKR has forced them to say it, to an international audience, because they were too craven to put it in the guidance of the law. Karma, you cowardly gits.

Boiledbeetle · 02/04/2024 18:38

MrsOvertonsWindow · 02/04/2024 18:22

She's played this brilliantly.
Bu it's not over. All that Stonewall / trans training will encourage certain biased officers to try their luck and target various women. But there's back up and world wide publicity. Plus the population understanding that we don't have to accept being silenced, women's rights eradicated and children's safety dismantled.
We can speak out.

So the new rules on being arrested. You refuse to say anything until you're spoken to a solicitor and when they ask for the details you tell them to tweet all the information to JKR and she'll let the police know who your solicitor will be, and actually they may as well go tell her to her face as they'll have to arrest her for the same thing later!

OhcantthInkofaname · 02/04/2024 18:37

I am in the US and so totally grateful for her advocacy for women.

Nomorenomores · 02/04/2024 18:36

lechiffre55 · 02/04/2024 17:34

I love that JKR said this ;
"If they go after any woman for simply calling a man a man, I'll repeat that woman's words and they can charge us both at once."
No sweeping her under the carpet :)

Talk about sisterly solidarity. : ). I didn’t think I could love that woman anymore, but I do!

LouisePlease · 02/04/2024 18:35

Let me also repeat and promise

"If they go after any woman for simply calling a man a man, I'll repeat that woman's words and they can charge us both at once."

devildeepbluesea · 02/04/2024 18:33

She’s absolutely fucking wonderful. I’m in total awe of her, I really am.

lechiffre55 · 02/04/2024 18:31

Can I just point out JKR is not in Scotland currently.
Given how this law works JKR in being outside Scotland makes it much more complex to enforce, and even puts the law itself under considerable strain. There is a chance she will be responsable for having the law overturned/recinded.
She clearly has a gameplan, almost certainly run it past her lawyers, and she's publicly demonstrating just how much effort she intends to put into this.
When you come for the Queen you better not miss.
If only the SNP had put a little thought in of their own.........

Toastednut · 02/04/2024 18:30

I say this on every JKR post but - what a legend. Incredible role model for women and girls (the real kind 😉)

TooManyAnimals94 · 02/04/2024 18:28

The lecturer who said her comments are close to the line of 'encouraging abuse or violence ' ... interesting he didn't have a specific quote to back that up!

Signalbox · 02/04/2024 18:28

The SNP could have avoided this whole embarrassing (for them) situation by making it very clear that misgendering or calling TW men would not become a criminal offence under the new law. It was clear from the start that this is what activists were hoping for.
