Does anyone else not care if a 'hate incident' is recorded against them?

For some people it will mean absolutely nothing. Especially older people with no intention of applying for a job.

What does is really matter? They don't tell you so it's not going to worry you. There's no crime so you haven't broken the law. There's no fine, prosecution or imprisonment.

It's a non crime.

Personally I don't mind if it's recorded somewhere that I did not commit a crime.

Obviously people in work who need a clear DBS will be frightened into submission by this law but there must also be lots of us who aren't?

I’m more concerned for the men who think they can become women and vice Versa.

ArrestHer · 27/03/2024 19:58

Hang on a sec. If anything that is read in Scotland is deemed to be published in Scotland. And most of these hate incidents will be the written word. And the words have to be read by the Scottish police themselves to know a thing has happened. Then everything reported will have been published in Scotland. Because a Scottish copper will have read them to note down the wrong think.

do I have that right?

What were their views?

They were protesting their government's covid lockdown measures and mandates.

Don't see why not.

IW is currently identifying as both trans and cis so...

If it’s good enough for Mr W then it’s good enough for me - a non binary transwoman it is.

Could I identify as a transwoman and report my hurt feelz?

Don't forget that according to the Police Scotland 'rules' cross dressing is covered. So any of you,who like me,wear mens work wear,T shirts, boots,or anything similar are now 'protected' by the new hate speech laws.😉
Therefore,don a man's hat and report away.

Ooh, I'm sitting here in an M&S men's hoodie, the warmest thing I possess (of course, since men get better quality clothes...). So that's me covered.

WallaceinAnderland · 27/03/2024 18:46

If we all identify as non binary we're covered.

The police film about the hate monster says towards the end that the hate monster who presumably lives in Scotland doesn't like doing something positive, in fact he hates it. So there's concrete evidence that the hate monster is anti '+'. 😀 Anyone fancy reporting the hate monster?

I'll be reporting this tweet on Monday, for homophobia.

'Fake Tufton Street ‘gay rights’ charade, LGB Alliance. Most of who are straight. None of whom can dance'

India is such a homophobe - I’ll definitely be reporting that appalling tweet.

So does this mean when feminists are accused of being funded by Christian Fundamentalists we can perceive this as a hatred towards Christian Fundamentalists and report it as a hate crime under the characteristic of religion?

Yes. You can report any utterance as motivated by hate and the police will be duty bound to investigate.

Agreed. Whilst I didn't agree with their views, freezing the protesting truckers" bank accounts was absolutley dystopian.

What were their views?

Canada seems to be ahead on most dystopian metrics.

Re: those of us who've mentioned China and the attributed Social Credit system - how many people here have seen Black Mirror's Nosedive episode or The Orville's Majority Rule?

Scotland may well be the first testing ground for these concepts in the West.

I wonder if Police Scotland are signed up to Stonewall?

I just don't trust the police to act ethically and to not abuse their powers.

I've just seen this on X. Not much information but a good sign.

RebelliousCow · 27/03/2024 08:05

It reminds me of China's 'social credit' system ( there is a really good 'Storyville' episode on BBC I player about this).

You might not have broken the law, but you will have infringed some of the social 'rules'. In China there is a credit/debit system whereby you gain credits for 'good behaviour' and 'debits' for bad behaviour. Bad behaviour might include being caught, by facial recognition devices, eating or drinking on the metro ( which is discouraged); parking badly; taking part in a demonstration or rally, or simply making a complaint against officialidom of any sort.

There are thousands of ways to be debited, but only a few hundred ways to achieve credits. If you are in debit you might find it difficult to get a new job or find a new school for your child, for example, or you might be barred from using high speed rail services.

The social cedit/debit system is meant to act as a incentive to 'good' behaviour and a disincentive to 'bad behaviour'. Though knowing ( or becoming aware) that there is some official tracking system somewhere which records and monitors your behaviour is very dystopian.

How to contribute to overwhelming this absurd new law:

  1. Search on Twix for some high-profile trans person posting.
  2. Respond with something inarguable like “lesbians don’t do dick”.
  3. Wait for accusations of bigotry to roll in.
  4. Report each one as homophobia.

Ooh smart thinking.
I can see no problem with this.
Between every single time we are called Christian fundamentalists and SARs we will keep the police busy.

I'm going to have to do a SAR a lot, because I have a enhanced DBS so I need to know if I'm going to lose my job if I get a nchi recorded against me.

How often can we do a SAR?
