Yes, you can have Reform or the SDP. Enjoy 😉

😳 that’s the bloody problem!

Labour are in danger of missing a bloody open goal aren’t they.

Floisme · 24/03/2024 16:29

I think her story's amazing and I'm unimpressed with the 'thick' comments. But I thought the interview Decca Aitkenhead did with her for the Sunday Times a year or so a go was far more revealing.

As I remember, when DA asked her then about sex and gender and Labour's commitment to self ID (it was before they kind of backtracked) she seemed genuinely blindsided, as if she hadn't even foreseen the question coming up.

She's clearly better advised now but that reaction (to DA) suggests to me that she wasn't listening to people outside of her own immediate circle and she very possibly still isn't, which is troubling from someone expected to become Deputy Prime Minister.

Yup, I agree with this. She's a woman full of her own potential and as such will not back down despite evidence to the contrary. Upthread there are suggestions she might be either lying or unbelievably dense. I suspect its a heavy dose of lying mixed with pure ambition. Career politicians are all about themselves.

This.

Angela supports what she thinks will benefit Angela. She doesn't give a monkey's about anybody else.

FFS it’s like Labour actually don’t want to get into power.

I am genuinely beginning to suspect the same.

StellaOlivetti · 24/03/2024 16:11

I wasn’t expecting much from her, but what has really infuriated me about this article is the airy way she says “most people can get this”.
Do Not Presume to speak for me.

Same

The arrogance

It’s similar to Starmer’s ‘everyone knows’

It’s all part of the no one’s talking about it stint

She’s going to do a Harriet Harman isnt she? Harriet was supporting PIE until even HH couldn’t ignore the harm then she just shut up and never mentioned it again 😡

I'm not impressed with that comment but I'm impressed with everything else. She nursed her own mother, was pregnant as a teenager, worked as a home help, getting qualifications as she did so and then became an MP.

And? I'm interested in politicians' policies, not their life stories, however impressive or sympathy-rousing they are. You can ve a hard-working and determined person and still stand for all the wrong things.

Exactly, so what?

It’s the complete refusal to hear women that’ll impact me and others

As opposed to Labour’s messaging on women - adult female plus Rayner‘s nonsense

They're all over the place

Yeah, so are the Tories. And the Greens, SNP, Plaid Cymru and Lib Dems etc etc.

On this single issue, you can have SDP or Reform. Which one do you fancy?

EasternStandard · 24/03/2024 15:55

AdamRyan · 24/03/2024 15:52

Oh, or maybe "Party for Women" but they appear to be struggling to get any messaging in place about what their policies are other than debating Keir Starmer.

I appreciate I could do my own research, but is there a political party that does support the rights of biological woman? Labour will lose my vote over this issue.

Yes, you can have Reform or the SDP. Enjoy 😉

Yep! Labours line remains that some special men are women and entitled to everything adult human females have. These men will also be counted as women in official statistics.

And that the major issues this causes to some of the most vulnerable groups of women, the exclusion, the actual bloody rapes in some cases, must be denied and ignored in order to stroke the fevered brows of these special men. And that just not admitting this or pretending it doesn't exist somehow vanishes the problems.

They are basically in full favour of male supremacism, in alternative reality in the manner of a disturbed and unhappy teenager, and in marginalising and removing access from disabled, ethnically diverse, multicultural and abused and traumatised women. Oh and fucking over the safeguarding of children. While identifying as being politically 'left'. And ever so nice. And if you have a problem with this, it's because you're a stupid bigot.

There's no way this far down the line with so many media exposes, scandals and court cases behind us she isn't already aware of all the problems and arguments related to this issue.

Agreed. She doesn’t come across in any of the interviews I’ve read as someone who’s much up for changing her mind. She’s reading/hearing all of it through the prism of “they are all evil Tory bigots so I don’t need to engage” in fact I doubt she’s even read anything on it on the basis that she already decided several years ago that she & Labour are on the right side of history so anything else on the subject can be dismissed out of hand

YourWinter · 24/03/2024 15:29

God she’s awful. Thick as a brick.

I'd vote for her over any other mealy-mouthed Tory and hope she will look into this issue more deeply, possibly changing her mind.

Can we now stop having the idiotic posts scolding us for saying that the supposed ‘labour listened and look Starmer says’ kind of crap that we got from some posters in the last couple of months, please ? We pointed out that it was all weasel words and were basically told to shut the fuck up.

Labour put their left leg in
Left leg out
In out in our and shake it all about.

Stupid dangerous idiot.

Daichead · 24/03/2024 14:51

If there was a referendum tomorrow on ‘are transwomen women?’ I would bet my life the resounding answer would be NO.

You don’t speak for me, Angela.
