Woke change to England flag.

Surely flags are flags but no Nike did a 'playful update' adding trans colours to the England football kit.

Imagine changing the flag of others countries!

What is it with companies like Nike that they have to push trans down everyone's throats.

ok hands up - seems Nike haven't explicitly said anything about the colours.

But it is utter guf and the choice of colours is batshit. The England flag already unifies England fans. Because it is recognisable.

I hope Nike go bust. Because i really hate the idea that they are going to supply the German team when there is a perfectly good sports clothing supplier in Germany.

Again: would like to see them change the colours of the US Flag in the name of unity. That will be entertaining to watch

Where has Nike said it’s to do with trans? I have tried to find this online and can’t find a single legitimate quote.

I haven’t found any comment from
Nike directly. Not keen on ‘mixing reds and blues of the past’ to make purple (very UKIP! 😆) but it’s good to read that after athlete feedback they have changed the shape of the women’s kit (more room at bust, hip and bicep): https://www.englandfootball.com/articles/2024/Mar/18/england-mens-womens-para-new-nike-kits-revealed-for-2024-20241803

England get fresh look for 2024

The new England shirts to be worn by our men's, women's and para teams from March have been revealed

At the end of the day if people who like wearing football shirts buy it then Nike don't care . They like controversy. However I feel that your average football fan is not going to be impressed so they may well have shot themselves in the foot commercially. If it doesn't sell then I think you might see the "old traditional" design being reintroduced. This is a typical Nike move but I do agree that they would be unlikely to even consider it in other countries.

but the English flag is a red cross on a white background. A sportswear company doesn't have the right to change the colours and then tell us that's our flag. They can put a multicoloured cross in there if they want, but they can't call it the England flag.

It has to do with "Trans" because the company, Nike, told us it has.

TathingScinsel · 22/03/2024 12:39

Actually, I retract my previous comment. It turns out Nike are indeed promoting unity, Left and Right party leaders are unified against Nike’s crappy design.

Woke change to England flag.

@oldwhyno i don't know or care?? it's the tiniest redesign, get over it. sound like you guys are the "woke" ones

you care enough to be commenting on a post about it. get over it.

It's not the "tiniest redesign" at all, it retains only a vague suggestion of the England Flag. And the reason they bothered is to make a political statement. With flags it's ALWAYS a political statement.

If you don’t care about a topic, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to step aside and leave it to those who do care to discuss it?

I don’t care about loads of topics posted on mumsnet, but it would be a terrible waste of my time to post my lack of interest on all the threads I’m not interested in

Unless when you say ‘I don’t care’ you mean ‘so you stop caring and shut up’?

Which seems a bit… authoritarian?

I haven't seen any statement from Nike saying it's trans related. Please could you link to it?

Brefugee · 22/03/2024 12:30

tbh I'd be VERY interested to see what happened if Nike mucked around with the colours of the USA flag.

Am patiently waiting to see what they do to the German one if the deal over kid goes ahead.

Whatever it is, an attempt "to unite and inspire" has turned into "to divide and alienate". That's a fail.

It’s a very peculiar way to approach a ‘unify around a national sports team’ design brief, that’s for sure.

Brefugee · 22/03/2024 12:27

Hoppinggreen · 22/03/2024 09:16

Not sure how that design change has anything to do with "Trans" and I do usually notice these things.
I like it, I think its nice to play with colours and designs of traditional things and your use of the word "woke" makes me inclined to disagree with you on principle

I totally agree.
As soon as anyone used the word 'woke' to criticise something, I've checked out.

Ditto

are you kidding me? that's the tiniest cross i have ever seen and not even trans colours.
there are bigger issues, it's really not that deep.

whey did they bother then?

And also apparently about Nike changing the design of a football shirt, and anything else GBNews deems “woke”.

And posters who hang around to say it’s ‘not feminism’ on this board, why is that? Because males in female sports doesn’t affect women, for some reason..

In any case there’s two parts to FWR and it’s easy to use one over the other

Lots of unfashionable stuff gets diverted over here by MN, so it’s easier just to post it here go start with.

Luckily for you all us horrid auld terves are here on the Sex and Gender naughty step, so it’s easy for you to avoid us.

This section of the feminist board is about single sex spaces and sports

Who do you think is impacted by that?

And you have the other section, which posters wanted because they were annoyed, basically people moan but can’t seem to use other areas

Looked up Georgia's kit for obvious reasons and it seems traditional still?Though admittedly I don't know how a kit should look.

'The cross from the Georgian national flag is repeated via tonal prints on all three jerseys. An image of a horseman slaying a dragon from the European country’s coat of arms is used as the kits’ crest. It is also placed on the outside upper backs of the shirts.'

Much better graphic design!

Clean, uncluttered, minimalist but still recognisable.

Like a St George’s flag designed by Muji.

Except when it's about adverts for beer, music videos, flags people don't like, Pride, drag queens, shops selling gender neutral clothing, and taking the piss out of various transgender or non binary people.

Well yeh it’s gender related

The clue is in the name

Posters who complained and demanded FWR was split got what they were after

There is a section you can use for feminism chat

You could change the name of this board to “the Daily Mail Political Correctness Gorn Maaad!” board, and most of the posts would still be on topic. It doesn’t have much to do with feminism or women’s rights any more, and hasn’t for about 5 years.
