Saw this post on X from Glinner: https://twitter.com/Glinner/status/1767691199794545138

"The Spanish equivalent to Stonewall (FELGTB) has been fuming some days because of those military guys who changed their legal sex to female without doing anything else (and keeping beards, wives, everything!), because they were proving us feminists so right.

So finally FELGTB have decided to sue the military guys (who created an organisation called "Non Normative Trans People" (TNN in its Spanish acronym) for "fraud". But TNN have doubled down and said that they are going to sue FELGTB for transphobia, because no reason has to be given for changing your ID and the law says you can't be questioned."

How transphobic of FELGTB, who are they to gatekeep transness?!

Juanjo, as a woman, answers the question that divides feminism: "It is a social construct". That is why she is grateful to Irene Montero for having generated a "paradigm change": "In the binary society, a person who is transsexual has gender dysphoria and ends up taking hormones and/or operating so that their previous sex resembles the opposite, but that perpetuates the gender binary. There's no need. A trans person is one who identifies with the opposite sex to the one they have registered. That is why the law has been good for us, we are very grateful."

Is Juanjo wrong in that though?

Haha when I saw the video of Alex (mother of four), I thought 'she' was one of the military 'guys'... but turns out Alex is part of FELGTB?! This makes the whole thing even more hilarious.

It's so ridiculous I'm expecting the video is fake, surely?!

No fucking way!

This is delicious.

What exactly is their problem with the non normative laydeez then? Have they not perfected the faux mild expression that is seemingly required? Or do they not post enough rainbow emojis?

Brefugee · 13/03/2024 11:15

Well this is where it will all hinge, isn't. If you have SelfID with zero processes or indicators, you must simply and uncritically without question accept the GI of the person you are talking to/investigatin. SelfID collapses into itself if this isn't done.

And while I literally don't care what people wear and so on, i really do care that false statistics and reporting means that either investment can't be targeted where it's needed (eg. Homeless shelters for men, rape crisis centres for women, transgender services for whoever needs it etc) and that is the problem with SelfID in a nutshell: it skews statistics (as the twitter thread showing how one man saying he is a woman skews murder statistics by 20% if you look at women who murder)

If you want to be in the marines, the paras, the SAS, a surgeon, whatever you have to jump through rigorous hoops. I really don't see - for "true trans" people why there is a resistance to the 2 years "living in the acquired gender" and a clinical diagnosis of GD - because if you truly are trans, you will then get the help and resources needed. If we have no way of telling who is doing it for shits & giggles, for Malaga Airport (or can we utter the hallowed 3 initials now?) purposes, for other nefarious pruposes etc... how can we target the help?

If actual trans people had stood with the likes of Buck Angel (much as i find him a bit much) and pointed out that this wasn't going to help trans people but it would play right into the hands of the followers of Michel fucking Foucoult and those of his ilk, we wouldn't be in this mess.

So - i hope that these "trans soldiers" really are just men with an eye on what they can get for themselves. Because it might wake those fuckers up who haven't been listening to women shouting about this for years. And i hope this means that Spain will row back on SelfID and keep giving the disadvantaged-because-of-their-sex female Spanish soldiers their due.

According to this article https://theobjective.com/espana/2024-03-09/juanjo-presidenta-asociacion-militares-trans-patriarcado/

Her (Juanjo's) long-term goal is to “end the patriarchy,” which is what will happen when “we are all women". That is why the association offers legal advice for men to complete the registration sex change.

And since they came out of the closet they have been accused of "taking advantage" and of committing an alleged "fraud of the law." But Juanjo announces in his interview with The Objective that they will denounce those who accuse them of it: "We are going to get very serious about this issue because transphobia is punishable with large fines, and the media can even lose State subsidies."

What is a woman?

Juanjo is doing rather good job of coming across as sincere!

Is it the pink shirt that makes him trans?

Ah you've spotted it! I took me ages, it's like an eye puzzle pic
😄

SirChenjins · 13/03/2024 11:06

But what’s the correct answer to the questioning? One they on here said they liked blouses - would the powers that be allow that?

JanesLittleGirl · 13/03/2024 11:05

I do love the law of unintended consequences. Pity that the Spanish government forgot to repeal it.

ScrollingLeaves · 13/03/2024 11:03

TheABC · 13/03/2024 09:50

Does this mean that the courts in Spain has to arrive at a concrete, legal definition of trans in order to settle the case?

In which case, I am joining @AlisonDonut at the popcorn maker. Between this, the NHS reverse ferret on puberty blockers and Labours latest squirming on women's sports, it turning into quite a week.

Maybe the court will not definite the law properly but treat the soldiers as though they were claiming Conscientious Objection - grilling them, then deciding whether or not to believe them. This could make the legal process all more vague but possibly be enough to put off future macho male soldier from claiming they are women.

It's hilarious that the hard military bloke is more non conforming to sex based stereotypes than the transwoman. Not by a lot obvs, they're both immediately recognisable as men.

That's what stood out to me. I love the snazzy shirt! Far less masculine than Alex madre de cuatro's pink shirt 😂

Obviously the only solution is to have RMW sniffing for Woman Essence, and Layla Moran doing a visual soul check (or fish free oboe check) on each of these fellas stunning and brave lady soldiers?

I'd love to know if RMW can smell woman essence on "Alex, madre de cuatro". Maybe a squirt of invisible woman essence and a pronouns change is all you need!

It's the wrong type of snow trans

OnlyLoveCanBreakYourHeart · 13/03/2024 10:56

Would have been nice if group 1 had been paying attention to the Dolatowski types and what women had been saying earlier and didn't do this only when it came to financial reward.

They're only interested now because of the financial reward. Nothing to do with women. Just another group of blokes wanting what women have.

pronounsbundlebundle · 13/03/2024 10:56

That video is comedy gold though. He's not even trying.

Male grifters complaining about other male grifters. And women are the losers.

I can't find the thread on a Mumsnet search, but was it in Spain where a male with an identity was convicted of transphobia for saying another male was not genuine trans because he had not had surgery? If so, then surely FELGBT are also breaking the law by bringing this suit.

There was indeed such a thread. I won't link to it because it got tediously derailed, but you've got the gist.

It was in Australia, and many, many male police officers identified as trans or nb so as to claim the extra clothing allowance, etc.
The government is investigating and has issued statements about their disappointment that some people may not be genuine…

And how will they tell who's genuine? 😆

pronounsbundlebundle · 13/03/2024 10:53

So, let me get this straight (possibly not the right word in the circs)

One group of male bodied employees have realised they can get additional benefits by IDing as women, so do so.

Other group of male bodied people who enjoy taking their male bodied selves into women's spaces without women's consent are FED UP that group 1 are now using the same arguments they've used to destroy women's single sex spaces to do something slightly less abusive to women.

Meanwhile group 1 didn't stand up for their sisters and mothers and daughters until there was some kind of financial reward for them.

IMO group 2 are definitely more of a threat to women's rights than group 1 and I'd probably back group 1 in a fight, so there is that but still. Would have been nice if group 1 had been paying attention to the Dolatowski types and what women had been saying earlier and didn't do this only when it came to financial reward.

Personally would rather be in the mixed sex (labelled women's) toilets with group 1 than group 2. But can Spanish women please have some basic women's human rights back at some point?

We are all non-normative trans in that case, aren't we?

MagpiePi · 13/03/2024 10:41

Wasn’t there a train company or was it a police force (UK), that offered additional expenses for trans people so they could get extra uniforms, and lo and behold, lots of men suddenly identified as women to get the extra money?
Or would that never happen? 🤔
