What a joy it is to read such eloquence from JKR!

He's just posted an apology to her for his language. Journalistic integrity indeed.

The lawyers have been on to him.

He got to his wit's end. It was not a long trip.

LOL, perfect.

How is what randoms write on Community Notes JK Rowling's fault? Does he think she coordinated it? All trans articles of any note have total community notes wars. Anyone with the right access can write and rate them.

She made them do it. No agency, these people. None at all. They are just puppets in thrall.

afternoonoflife · 08/03/2024 09:23

She’s had years of abuse, he has one day of it (sans misogynistic threats and abuse) and he snaps and calls a woman a c*. Unbelievable. Every day of this you’re reminded of the difference between the sexes and just how close to the surface rage and misogyny is for these men.

"when someone shows you there true self..." . I am impressed by the continued ability of left leaning/progressive types to keep using "right/far right" as short hand for anti women, (which I'm not saying doesn't have a level of truth to it), whilst their barely suppressed shut up women/after the revolution bullshit continue ls to become more visible, and actually more aggressive.

Might go by myself a harry potter Lego keyring now😁👍

Of course he did. He has that much sense. Yet the whole saga shows the power of women through the wit of one of them JKR and why misogynistic men are always trying to control them. It is why we have to win, but also why we will. Because frankly our opponents are not the best. If they face debate in the open they always lose.

The tide is turning. Caolan would have done well doing this in 2020.

I'm definitely doing this!!!

OMG I love that woman!

I think she's amazing that she refuses to be silenced even after all of the viterol and threats of violence that have been thrown her way for stating the truth.

Maybe it’s because of those threats that she continues to use her voice - she knows that many women aren’t in a position to use theirs because of the threats in their livelihoods. She’s not doing this for herself, she’s doing it for all women. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

“This is nonsense. 99.9% of the world knows it's nonsense. The emperor is naked. He might be wearing lipstick, but his balls are swinging in plain sight.”

I 💚🤍💜 JKR!

Thank you for the morning giggle...I need that !!!!

DH offered to download a version of the Running Grave yesterday (it's really expensive right now but I have read the whole sample on kindle). I refused saying "I know she's a billionaire but I really want to support this author".

Love this cogent tweet. She really is talented, admirable and brave.

Pudmyboy · 08/03/2024 08:21

Ignore my post above, having read the full thread I have seen the transcript of the video, and subsequent remarks, by far and away my favourite is :'he's got to his wit's end, it was not a long trip': brilliant!

Kaolin Rob is a familiar type and guess what, the progressive left will not call him out for his verbal abuse of Rowling. https://twitter.com/WingsScotland/status/1765906096684761216

This link doesn't work for me, would you be willing to give the gist, or screenshot?

pickledandpuzzled · 08/03/2024 07:59

She is awesome.

I recently read the last two Robin and Strike books. I was blown away by her brilliance writing Robin. She captures the twitchiness in certain situations, the sensitivity to certain traits in men, that women who’ve experienced sex based violence tend to share.

Her depiction of Strike and how safe Robin feels around him and why- despite his flaws- is spot on.

It really put paid, for me, any carping about her abilities I’ve occasionally heard.

And of course she’s been scintillating in this current spat.

I can't be arsed to screenshot it all, but Peter Jukes who runs Byline just had his phone stolen in the street. It appears he was looking at the above tweets when it happened. I'm sorry he had his phone nicked but in the thread he's sympathising with the poor lad because of all the 'pile ons' from the likes of JK and Elon Musk.
I had no idea Byline Times were such a bunch of clowns, no idea.

Byline, Peter Juke and his crew have always been jokes at best- I dont know how anyone could ever take them seriously but we live in interesting times.

PurpleAxe · 08/03/2024 07:50

That woman...just, phwoar.

Yes, I have been meaning to buy the Strike books for a while now. Read the first one on Kindle but am pivoting back to real books.

Will order the whole series.

These latest Twitter shenanigans have just been hilarious.

She says she wants trans people to have protected rights. Respect to her.
I appreciate that on here as well, whenever there is a discussion here I've very rarely seen anyone not want trans folks to live happy, fulfilled and safe lives. They just don't want to give potential predators access to women and kids.
That involves keeping women's spaces safe.
I can't understand why this is so wildly controversial.
I think there is a mental block here that people by protecting women's spaces we are doing it to spite trans people, it isn't, its just trying to make things as safe as possible.
I use unisex toilets in public spaces if they're closest (my hospital has them more frequently than womens) and that is my choice, but the idea a woman of faith, or a woman who simply doesn't want to fucking share her space is made to feel like some mad biggot for that, is just gaslighting women.

It's incredibly frustrating and upsetting this level of division is occurring. People have lost a sense of protecting each other, themselves, being supportive and sensible.

The obvious solution is 3rd spaces, it doesn't have to be as divisive, just a new curve of society, by flat out refusal of such really isn't giving women anywhere to go besides defend their spaces at all costs. Very sad.

Unless I've missed something a 3rd option, changing rooms, prisons, toilets etc would just keep everyone safe, still be inclusive for trans community, will give everyone a solution. Yet its just a point of unnecessary contention. What a waste of time and energy fighting something that would increase people on both sides of the coin having safe and inclusive environments.

yeah you're not wrong on any of that. The gaslighting and mantrums on this topic are just offensive and embarrassing, respectively.
