What a joy it is to read such eloquence from JKR!

IW is a non crime hate incident!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2024 11:14

I think Willoughby's claim is that the police said that was how they were resolving the case.

GailBlancheViola · 09/03/2024 10:55

How would Willoughby know that?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2024 08:52

Other thread has filled up. Willoughby is claiming that a "non crime hate incident" has been recorded against JK Rowling. I hope she does a subject access request to check this and challenges it if so. She's got the clout to do so and bring much needed sunlight to the whole practice, that the police have been told several times they are abusing.

agent765 · 08/03/2024 22:34

IW's threats and behavior are just so... male.

JKR is just so gracious and, for want of a better word, ladylike. She's my girl crush. A woman with a heart of gold and a pen of steel. They say it's mightier than the sword.

My nephew was struggling with reading and writing, falling behind in class. Until he was given his first Harry Potter book.

He's not the first and won't be the last child helped by JKR. For that, I am forever in her debt.

For her strength in standing up for all women, including women like me who have suffered abuse from men and for whom the thought of sharing a space with a male is still terrifying, she is simply amazing.

GailBlancheViola · 08/03/2024 21:09

Cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth and a threat to flounce out of the UK from IW no doubt.

The world needs to hear this.

I think JK has a fair few followers!

It is sets out very starkly the failures in trans health 'care'.

I’d missed this thread. Thank you for the heads up.

It is on the one hand relieving in a way that people are starting to get more vocal about it. However, I have been concerned with how passive a lot of people have been previously over this. My friends off social media have been surprised by how bothered I’ve been about related issues but one or two agree with me and are also worried.

The other thing that worries me - and it’s a side-issue - is the whole detransitioner side of things. Seems to me after reading several harrowing accounts that there have been people who have not been properly supported, probably didn’t have true gender dysmorphia but have gone on to make some catastrophic decisions and have regretted it. I made this point elsewhere the other day on Facebook and had this strange person downplaying it, claiming it’s a non-issue. Well… it isn’t.

Surprise surprise this same person was also trying to argue there’s a TERF conspiracy to rid the world of trans people! The usual rubbish that’s thrown in the direction of anyone who has concerns about single-sex spaces being reserved and concerns over children’s welfare.

There are nearly 5,000 comments under the article in the Telegraph which went up last night! All apparently in favour of JKR's point and countless clearly aware of the dangers all this poses to children and women's rights.

People are no longer sitting back passively - people are fucking furious!

Love Fred Sergeant’s response to him. I also suspect after the day the “journalist”had on X yesterday, he had had more than one. He’s a laughing stock and in true fashion got nasty when embarrassed publicly.

I’ve just seen it. Hardly surprised he decided after a few hours to apologise for his antics in the early hours. He had a tantrum basically because like you say realised he’d made a right idiot of himself. He’s only 7 years younger than me - I’m 37 - and I’m a hot headed person but by 30 I knew when to rein it in and not show yourself up.

ANameChangePresents · 08/03/2024 15:53

The Telegraph comments show which way the wind is blowing. Be ye a Bobble Hatted Miscreant, a Big Brother inside Big Brother or Teacher's Special Secret, let it be known that noone is fooled and fewer people by the day feel compelled to play along.

tedgran · 08/03/2024 15:22

There were comments last night in the Times online about this, nearly all supportive of JKR. No comments allowed today, also not allowed to comment on a piece about Pets at Home diversity bollox. Just sent a complaint to the Times.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 08/03/2024 15:02

I just love this bloody fabulous role model for the women and girls of our time. JKR is giving us the language and educating boys and men in what can be said within the realms of what's legal in an non offensive way. She is such an influential figure. Willoughby is an offensive, narcissistic fantasist.

What’s really sad is that the adults did not tell your trans friends when they were children that there was nothing wrong with their body, that it’s impossible to be ‘born in the wrong body’ and that they cannot change sex - ever.
Children are still being lied to by adults who should know better.

In both cases my friends would have benefitted from parents who weren't deeply homophobic, I think that may have certainly encouraged them to have not felt compelled to put themselves through hell, effectively.

The way children who want to play and live outside "gender norms" are now quickly given the trans label worries me.

JK Rowling reported to police by trans activist India Willoughby for misgendering

Harry Potter author referred to newsreader and Loose Women host as a man in Twitter argument

I have sympathy for trans women, I do, I have trans friends who have been saying they're in the "wrong body" since childhood. It's incredibly sad.
And over the years I've been very much on the trans side, believing that I was siding with a marginalised group of people who simply wanted respect and to live their lives authentically and not causing any harm.
I've seen things over the last 7 or 8 years suspecting me to believe that isn't the case for what is now an overwhelming majority, sadly. My turning point when I realised how awful things were becoming was lesbians being told they had to accept transwomen to date. Lesbians don't need telling who they have to accept dating, to do so is in my wee opinion fucking criminal.

I think we are all aware now if we don't protect women's (and childrens) spaces, then we're blindly putting women into dangerous situations and why the fuck would anyone want that? If I was born in a body I didn't identify with, (sadly, I do identify as the short fat arse I am), I'd never ever let that take presidency over a woman feeling safe. Never.

My trans friends appreciate that but are scared to speak out. They have lived horrid lives truth be told and don't want shunning from any mild acceptance they do have. Its heartbreaking.

I've mentioned him a few times on here but I've an uncle, lovely harmless uncle who suffers psychosis. He's known in his local area as harmless and he goes and tells the old folks in cafes about his deluded adventures, like the tour he did with the beatles, just because in his head he was best mates with Paul McCartney it doesn't mean it was true or Paul McCartney would have to indulge my uncle knocking on his door holding a bottle of red wanting to discuss the good old times. (The good old times he wasn't even born to have witnessed in any capcity)

We can sympathise, we can pity and we can support, doesn't mean we have to accept. If that makes me transphobic then with sadness, I'll accept that. Because nothing is more important than safety of women and kids and I'd rather offend people than risk safety of others.

What’s really sad is that the adults did not tell your trans friends when they were children that there was nothing wrong with their body, that it’s impossible to be ‘born in the wrong body’ and that they cannot change sex - ever.
Children are still being lied to by adults who should know better.

She is lush!

And I reckon mr im a journalist must be kissing his own arse that JKR is as lovely and magnanimous as we already knew her to be.

I’m sure IW is as gracious in any stand down (excepting the barb wire fences, pink stars, and all round total victimhood. Hope Plod are on their way…)

Luffs her x
