Despite all the recent WPATH revelations and everythign else we now know Angela Eagle has just tweeted that the next Labour government will:

  • Legislate for a trans-inclusive conversion therapy ban
  • Make anti-LGBT+ hate crime an aggravated offence *Modernise Gender Recognition processes
  • Appoint an international LGBT+ envoy

Coralfox's view on maternity leave is based on the patriarchal views that women should behave like men and get back into the workforce as soon as possible, instead of the feminist view that mothers should have the opportunity to bond and care for their children, be able to breastfeed as long as possible and recover from both birth as well as pregnancy.

Fathers don't have that recovery part, the 9 months pregnant, 9 months recovery. I am for mothers having those 9 months maternity leave and then fathers the option for an additional 3 months, covering the first year of a babies life. This meets the needs of the mother from the biological sense, as well as provides the father with precious bonding time with their children as well, plus the needs of the child to be at home with their parents.

If only governments would support that, instead of forcing mothers to go back when they are not ready, physically and emotionally, based on the idea that if fathers can do it, mothers should do it too.

I certainly don't think women should be back in the workplace as soon as possible. I think women and men should both have generous and flexible parental leave, on full pay, to organise their family life as they wish. Other countries seem to manage this.

I also think we need to tackle the cost of living so that families can afford for one parent to stay home, or both parents to work part-time, during the early years, if that is their preference. I do not believe that children going into full time childcare from an early age should be the default. Don't tell me what my views are.

There is nothing special or mystical about biological motherhood that makes it more important than other forms of parenthood. Fathers and non biological mothers (adoptive or in same sex relationships) are equally important, and should be treated equally.

Labour positives

  • not the tories
  • wont lie and then try to cover it up like with PPE
  • will give proper funding to the NHS
  • provide proper funding for schools
  • mental health support

how about you give a positive of the tories apart from ‘they know what a woman is’

Apparently a capacity to deal with reality. And not desire to criminalise anyone who fails to pretend the selected fantasy on command.

I mean, if we're going to imagine away sex, let's just identify as poverty not existing and make it a hate crime to mention it. And VAWG - well no, that doesn't happen and you can be arrested for mentioning or reporting it and oh look! It's vanished! The police have no reports! It's gone! Yay 😊<Insert chorus of shiny happy people>

We will introduce new specialist domestic abuse workers in 999 control rooms and put specialist rape investigation units in every force across England and Wales – so that early opportunities for prevention and protection are not missed.

Yet we'll house male rapists in women's prisons because they say they are a woman, we'll give any man that fancies it unfettered access to female spaces because he says he's a woman, and if any actual women complain we'll call it a hate crime. FFS Labour do better

Actually I wouldn't put it past Labour to have that as a strategy. Labour are very keen on the poorest and most marginalised women and children being cannon fodder for male misogynists (grooming gangs, care homes, Leeds 'managed' zones etc).

"Let's halve domestic violence for nice ladies who went to university and read the Guardian. But put all the rapists and thugs in with yucky convicts who are probably asking for it anyway."

Why the assumption that anyone who doesn't vote Labour must be a Tory voter? Last time I looked, this was not a two-party state.

Because they don't have mental capacity to assume anything else.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/03/2024 14:01

Just listened to Starmer being interviewed at a She Can Play football event. Standing in front of a banner stating She Can Play he stated :

"..... the lionesses made us proud.... but success must be measured not in trophies in cabinets "but in sports for girls and young people becoming equal access".

Even on IWD the man can't bring himself to talk about women's sport without wedging in people & inclusion. It's a feature, not a bug.

Why should I? I haven't said I'm voting for them. It's you and a few others who seem to think anyone not pledging in blood to vote Labour is automatically for THE TORIES. You don't even know where I live and what my choices are!

It's a Labour thread. The floor is yours. Evidence is required, though.

EasternStandard · 08/03/2024 13:58

Any claim on VAWG, education or NHS has to be qualified with how it will be paid for

@GreenYoshi12 You certainly do a lot of focusing on THE TORIES on this Labour thread. Just think of all the positive things you could be telling us about Labour.

I find it downright odd that anyone thinks that effective ways to change someone's mind consists of hectoring and smearing them.

berate us, deride us, scold us, chastise us! Oh, please! Women LOVE that shit.

You're doing it to make yourself feel virtuous. It doesn't work. It just give you a righteous thrill. Knock it off.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/03/2024 13:55

Have I missed the big fat shiny game-changing socialist policies from Labour? Like renationalising the railways/water?

They're going to build a monorail system, it's clearly in their policy meme. What do you want, blood?

Honestly? Because I think this is an absolute emergency. I know you can say what about the NHS, etc. but I'm serious that self ID and making it illegal to challenge trans women in women's spaces will create a situation where a woman's experience in our society is going to constantly be informed by thinking. Am I in danger here? It will be how you feel walking alone at night but in toilets, changing rooms, rape crisis centres, NHS wards, prisons, on school trips. I am hoping to be able to vote Labour because I'm hoping they'll come to their senses but if not I will have to spoil my ballot paper. I will never vote Tory.

spoiling your ballot paper will fall into the hands of the tories btw

how many of you are choosing who the vote for purely on a definition of a woman? Have you not looked at the shit show this government is? There’s so many threads on here complaining about the state of the government and the resources we have but then here people are voting for them as they ‘know what a woman is’?
Why are you voting on one issue?

I'm voting on the basis of jetpacks for all, hth.

ForCoralFox · 08/03/2024 11:38

I don't think I did, actually.

And bravo for that. Trans men matter too, as do non binary people.

Trans men matter too, as do binary people.

As females by sex they would be covered by maternity rights.

Zyq · 08/03/2024 13:44

It's highly unlikely that this will lose them enough votes to swing anything other than the most marginal constituencies. The feminist vote is hardly going to go to the Tories given their record over the last 14 years.

Well said. Plus labour's complete silence about the safeguarding disaster of socially transitioning thousands of mentally vulnerable children along with labour supporters reframing safeguarding children as "right wing bigotry " makes the party a direct hazard to children and young people.

Until they return to being a responsible party governed by the needs of children and society they won't get my vote back.

But by excluding trans women, you are anti trans

…………………………………..

It should not be permissable to claim that any group are a sinister, predatory threat.

a. This is not about any group. It is not about men who identify as women.

It is about the biological sex classification male.

b. It is not about saying all males are a sinister, predatory threat.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 08/03/2024 13:22

As far as I know in a democracy people can vote on whatever basis they chose eg all the ppl who voted for Boris to get brexit done even though he was clearly & had always been a lying narcissistic bellend who couldn’t run a bath let alone a country
