Yes - that’s exactly is - the vast majority of the public are • sex realists and GC. So why is everyone so pro trans, and inflicting actual violence on Posie Parker, etc, etc ?

I’m in NZ, by the way - it’s far less OK to be openly GC down here.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 29/02/2024 21:04

Being GC is still extremely niche

the Vast vast majority of the population are GC ie believe in biological reality. The problem is that it all sounds so utterly batshit that most ppl still struggle to believe it’s real. Putting men in women’s prisons, sports, refuges etc just sounds insane

plus the mangling of language means that a third of people think a TW is a woman who wants to be a man

plus the public burning of the women who have put their head about the parapet means that most women are too afraid to go public. I would certainly fuck my career if I went public for instance

plus of course the country is fucking mad and has been for several years. Most ppl I know are just keeping their heads down & trying to get through each day

This is what I don’t understand.

Being GC is still extremely niche. And it’s dangerous to put your head above the parapet.

When you go onto SM, everyone’s TWAW and #bekind….

Edited

Do you think so? I reckon the public are 99% sex realists with the exception of the crazies. We all know what biological sex is, it’s in our cells.

I’m not going back to writing letters, signing petitions, buying merch and funding court cases ad infinitum. I believe we are passed this point now. Something else is needed. This is afterall, the history of the women’s movement. One set thought petitioning the men forever would convince them to give us rights, another set did things differently.

I don’t understand why the movement hasn’t rallied in massive numbers. Why we haven’t galvanised the public to join us on the streets yet.

I don't think it's linear WhiteVelvet.

The landscape is incredibly different from how it was in say 2015 - changes in prison policy and sport have seen to that, and i even wonder if there is hope that the next census might be less screwed up.

It is noticeable that the extremists are currently trying to pretend that prison policy has always been like it is now. Ha!

Some are still trying to fight the sport battle but I do think it is mainly won - the craven IOC finally shifting from sheer pressure has made the difference. Again the argument now is trying to redraw the lines of what counts as sport (eg parkrun) to limit the spread of the idea that sex actually matters. In that context I can even agree with activists of the other viewpoint that it's pathetic and that really all they are trying to do is avoid wins by males in women's sport being too visible. They're still saying 'elite' rather than 'MALE'.

The complete uselessness of this toxic government who have latched on to this issue as one of the only open goals the next government has given them, means that it is harder to have a discussion about this that is nor a proxy general political discussion. That's made things quite tricky for me. Tbh I'm one of the ones who thinks that Labour's policy shift will be enough. But there's going to be an awful lot more battles to come. The opposition wants to force us to do it case by obviously abusive case while they hold the linguistic and policy ground. Like this.

There has definitely been headway made for sure, I read about where the movement was in the early days/years when feminists/women were shut down totally.

Thanks to all their hard work that isn’t the case now. Much of the public are awake and waking up.

I was a prominent voice in The Times comment section for a while and I saw readers waking up. I think, well I hope enough of the public would happily see the movement exercising this on the streets and support us/the movement.

I don’t believe this will be sorted any time soon with the sort of continued letter writing and petitions I was and others were directed to do as resistance. It isn’t enough in my opinion.

It seems as if the general public have been exposed to an excess of trans extremism in recent weeks from the male breastfeeding fetish, the John Lewis debacle, the Blake murder, the police recording Blake's crimes as being a woman's crime, the police having to withdraw the ability of transwomen to intimately search women, JKR's interventions after the press relentlessly called Blake she, along with the success of #OperationLetThemSpeak where transactivists say all the quiet bits out loud to a horrified public.
Is this a tipping point? From what I've seen and read, the public are completely fed up with it all. To what extent this translates into a return to sanity supported by government action remains to be seen

I believe the public have been fed up for a couple/few years now but I think because there hasn’t been an igniting flame from our side - a really visible public one that they have seen - they just plod on in a state of shell shock, thinking that voting differently will make it all stop (it won’t) or that it will just go away (it isn’t).

Hi there... new to the MN feminism section but not new to the debate/fight for our rights.

I stepped out of it all for a bit because I realised my letter writing, funding numerous court cases etc wasn’t making a dent.

I’ve been waiting for the moment that galvanises the movement towards a different tack (need to be careful with words here).

Are we there yet? Is the BBC/Scarlet Blake the tipping point?

Stating a basic, neutral fact. Gets a complaint upheld.

Ffs.

Friends are surprised when I say I know longer trust the BBC. This one of the reasons why. The BBC lies with inpunity, same as the judiciary who demand a victim calls her rapist 'she' in court, same as the police who are happy to log the transgender cat killing murderer as a woman and, of course, same as any politician who parrots the delusion that transwomen are women.

Over the past 8 years I have turned from a broadly sympathetic person who thought that the few (ha ha) men who struggled with their sex were to be treated kindly to a hard-line hold-the-line person who refuses under any circumstances to submit to compelled speech out of politeness or to give an inch to the be kind brigade. This is a zero sum game now as far as I'm concerned.

Same. Although I haven’t had skin in the game for as long. Woke up in 2020.

I’ve reached the realisation that if the BBC are lying to me/the world about biological sex then they’ve probably been lying about a lot of other things since who knows when.

I no longer trust them. On anything.

On a positive note, this opens the doors to a floodgates of complaints - calling transwomen "women" is also giving "the impression of endorsing one viewpoint in a highly controversial area".

So they now have to uphold complaints about calling transwomen "women" or "female", or their inconsistency will also give "the impression of endorsing one viewpoint in a highly controversial area".

Edited

That's a really good point. And given their obsession with all things trans, drag etc this fuckwittery that knowing what a man is is a biased view, opens them up to countless challenges.

SlumberDearMaid · 29/02/2024 20:09

Doesn’t surprise me.

Clearly transwomen are male.

To this end, I have stopped using the word ‘transwoman’.

I now say ‘transgender male’, so as to remove ‘woman’ entirely, and to ensure ‘male’ is pointedly used.

Will it make any difference? 🤷🏻‍♀️ It makes me feel marginally better….

AttaThat · 29/02/2024 20:07

Oh for fucks sake!

If anything, he was providing clarity. We know that a huge number of people don’t understand whether “trans women” means people who are biologically male or biologically female.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/02/2024 20:06

I suppose the only way to suppress facts, science and accuracy is to use threats and complaints to coerce people out of speaking the truth.
Orwell had the BBC and transactivists in mind when he said:

'The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.'

PermanentTemporary · 29/02/2024 20:00

I suppose that was the problem with court cases positioning GC views as 'beliefs' - he's not supposed to express his beliefs on the Beeb.

I should imagine he's subject to a relentless barrage of complaints because it's always been obvious what his views are, even though in my view he walks the line very well.

There's no allowance now for the sheer insult and mental stress of having to state lies as facts. We're not supposed to feel anything when someone states that sex is not relevant when discussing sex, or something equally shite.

Twistyripple · 29/02/2024 19:54

Time and time again I'm baffled

Melroses · 29/02/2024 19:52

BBC parting company with reality.

That must be one helluva complaint to get through the multi-layered BBC Complaints procedures 😱

Surely Maya’s judgement should mean he can say exactly what he said!

In private...I guess this is deemed similar to a presenter stating something he believes as part of his religion or political affiliation as fact rather than opinion.

But of course, what he said is a fact. 'Male' is a scientific term.

Weirdly, 'beliefs' are protected but asserting facts apparently isn't.

Whatthechicken · 29/02/2024 19:49

I just keep imagining future conversations with my daughter in a few years.

"Mum, there is a man in the changing room and he keeps showing me his penis"

"No darling, it's a women's changing room, there are no men"

"But he has a penis"

"Sshhh my love, it's a 'female penis'. *whispers - We must never say 'his penis', because they may arrest us for a hate crime".

I imagine this may get deleted, but that will simply prove my point.
