"She is concerned for her safety if she is required to compete against males" THIS is exactly why women don't want Bridges in their competitions.

Yes. I’d love to hear Bridges explain what makes it unsafe for a transwoman to compete with men, but which does not make it unsafe for a transwoman to compete with women.

(I suspect the important difference is who it’s unsafe for.)

I don’t think they do sexed events per se but I’m led to believe you have to register your gender identity rather than sex when you sign up. I know women have complained and told to stop making a fuss.

If they don't operate sexed events, why are they collecting gender identity even as a poor proxy for sex? Diversity monitoring? In which case they are still wrong because the EA characteristic is sex.

SamW98 · 20/02/2024 21:05

and does not like transgender women having to 'out' themselves to compete in the category

Let's be honest, those skin tight Lycra shorts do the outing without a word being said.

Audax UK hasn’t budged one bit.

Do they even offer sexed events? I thought randonneuring was unisex.

Having just seen the video of the male player hurling a woman basket ball player to the floor, the third woman he'd injured in the course of the game before the game was stopped and the team surrendered (in case so many of their team were injured they couldn't play an up coming game) ....

I'm honestly not that bothered re wittering about 'safety'. It's not like these males have any fucks to spare for anyone else's, is it?

Much of the funding came from feminists and men who wanted this test in court. It seemed that Curtiss didn't quite like that the money didn't come from people sympathetic to Curtiss.

It's interesting how some of the GC side's approach to legal cases is "we will fund the legal challenges by the people we disagree with if it gets this issue into court". It's clear that we value truth, justice, and transparency.

I dont understand why TRA don't focus first on female trans people inclusion in sport. They are the ones who are more likely to be excluded if they take T.

With the best will in the world, its unlikely that any trans person would be able to compete in the wrong sex league without being 'clocked', so the idea of an open category outing them doesnt really make much sense.

If a women was good enough to compete in the male category, she wouldn't feel invalidated. Winning would be a huge achievement. Maybe bridges should have the same attitude?

I am thankful for Emily and his mum for pushing this issue into the public’s consciousness. They finally forced cycling to stop hiding from the issue. British Cycling and Cycling Time Trials have now changed their policy but we must remember that British Cycling still allow self-id in non-competitive womens cycling and Audax UK hasn’t budged one bit.

Be interesting to see who Emily Bridges’ lawyer is. A man? A man who says he’s a woman? A woman? A man who says he isn’t a man or a woman? A woman who says she isn’t a woman or a man?

Shall we guess?

Bridges said she would not feel safe competing alongside men

How the duck does Bridges think women feel competing against trans women?

and does not like transgender women having to 'out' themselves to compete in the category

So she wants trans Women to lie and pretend they are women?? As if that's ever possible.

Froodwithatowel · 20/02/2024 20:41

Really it comes down to let male people with TQ+ identities trample over women and children if they want to, and stop moaning on about nonsense like other people matter too.

No. Those who have this problem and do not feel they can possibly be happy without doing so are just going to have to find other ways to enjoy life.

Can never understand the 'Let Trans People Play' slogan. No one is stopping them from playing. They can play in the male category which is the correct category for men. They really should change it to 'We demand we are let force our way into women's sports categories'. Which is all it's about really.

We should to with genetic testing xx you go this way, xy this way, it's the only way to resolve it (but then the women wanting to be men with all the extra testosterone will ping up)

Edited

But these males need their validation fix by transgressing females boundaries and spaces, what's the point in transitioning if you don't get to make yourself a massive victim and the centre of attention?

afternoonoflife · 20/02/2024 20:38

This sounds like the kind of guaranteed successful case that the Good Law Project would take on. I hope someone tweets Mr Kimono.

Who'd have thought you should be female at birth to compete in womens sports 😱

Outrageous innit?

No silly, crying is girl behaviour it's what ladieees do. Girls cry, Bridges cries therefore Bridges is a girl (because they are never women are they?). Case closed.
Except as Columbo would say 'just one more thing' do hormones shrink lungs? Or bones? Or change q angles? Or reduce hand size?
Oh it's not one more thing is it? There are 100's of those pesky differences between male and female bodies.

Unsafe? There's film footage of a male transitioner shoving a female cyclist off the racetrack! I've forgotten her name, but she retired after that race.

Austin Killips…was seen seemingly trying to push female cyclist Hannah Arensman off the race course during the UCI Cyclocross National Championships in December 2022
…
Former Olympic cycling champion Inga Thompson has claimed controversial trans cyclist Ausin [sic] Killips was not immediately disqualified after appearing to shove another rider out of the way because the umpires were too afraid of being labelled 'transphobic'.

I think it will be a useful court case if it happens, whatever the outcome, as it will add case law to the Equality Act. I don't know of any other legal challenges.

So wasn't there a Rugby player who was crowdsourcing for a legal challenge? A few months back? I know several 'GCs' had contributed to say "bring it on!". Has that fallen through?

This one, I guess, thanks for pointing it out. I think it wasn't funded.
