I've just hope everyone bears in mind that these threads are monitored and anything that looks undesirable to be read, will be reported.

The whole bloody thread should be deleted then, none of this is desirable to read about!

Enforced faux naivety required by men to benefit other men. Why? There's something about what women are saying that they need to hide. Quick. Before they risk others seeing it and finding out.

That probably tells you everything you need to know.

The fantasy of women finding breast feeding their child 'erotic' is like the fantasy a certain well known male is very stuck on, of rape victims having orgasms during their assault. Or trotting around wide eyed without pants in women's toilets with their tampon string dangling. Or asking men to show them how to insert their tampons. It's a male, imagining, within their very, very limited, misogynist and self focused knowledge, what it would be like to be in that position themselves, because largely, it produces feelings that they really enjoy having.

They have no concept of what reality is for women and aren't remotely interested. Real women or even other real humans have no part anywhere in this fantasy other than as props. Children have no purpose or needs of their own, and are equally just animated tools. It's disturbing. And it should not be enabled.

This thread is on borrowed time. Nobody likes the truth, don't kid yourselves. We all know what's in it for these males.

I still can't find the letter. But LBC has been helpful:

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/trans-woman-milk-breastfeeding/

Dr Rachael James's message said: "Medications are sometimes used to induce lactation, similar to the natural hormones which encourage lactation to develop when the baby is newly born although occasionally some people are able to induce lactation without hormonal treatment.
"The evidence which is available demonstrates that the milk is comparable to that produced following the birth of a baby." This is not the same as saying its "just as good" - this is a summary of the scientific analysis saying chemically it is comparable

"The letter said "human milk" is the "ideal food for infants" " - not arguable surely? Just a statement of fact.

"staff further clarify that the term human milk is meant to be neutral and is not gender-biased" - so basically using human milk instead of breastmilk so as not to upset trans men.

I think these are all reasonable and non political statements so I see why the trust are saying "We stand by the facts of the letter and the cited evidence supporting them"

In my opinion the letter is a non story so I wonder why this is coming up now while blogs like the ones being linked aren't being reported on? Weird.

It feels to me like it's aimed more at undermining the NHS trust than any genuine concern for babies but who knows

Trans women's milk just as good as woman's for feeding babies, NHS trust insists

A transgender woman's milk is just as good as a mother's breast milk, an NHS trust has said.

Yes, there are pages of google results about all kind of male fetishes, that doesn't mean those web pages bear any relation to reality. At all.

lol, that would be butterfly further, er, salting, their search history

pronounsbundlebundle · 19/02/2024 12:46

You know what, I breastfed for over 6 years, not once found it arousing. Know 100s of women who breastfed, none of them did either. We had very in depth conversations about latching, fore vs hindmilk, drugs that can be taken or not and the evidence base for how much of each drug passes into the breastmilk.

Yeah, TRAs not so interested in all that, which is all about the wellbeing of the child, are they?

TRAs are going to find out just how intransigent women are when babies are threatened.

Page one of search results contains a youtube video by the "Other People's Lives" channel on the subject. The first caller is a woman.

Don’t you mean the person identified as a woman, seeing as you don’t know what a woman actually is?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 19/02/2024 12:45

Our natural revulsion at the attempts to portray women breastfeeding as a sexual fetish are leading to deletions I see.

https://www.thestranger.com/the-queer-issue/2017/06/21/25225867/my-first-time-breastfeeding-my-daughter

One of these males writes about his attempted breastfeeding experience: "And yeah, I kind of got off on it. Don't judge."

🤢🤮

Ugh.

Someone should send that to the Sussex NHS trust responsible for endorsing this crap.

Datun · 19/02/2024 12:43

No, butterfly. The male entitlement is you thinking that you will ever make the smallest dent in the outrage that women feel - on the feminist section of a parenting website - over the fact that a lactation fetish is being promoted by the NHS, by finding some bloody anecdote that does absolutely nothing to disprove AGP.

It's completely irrelevant.

Many men fetishise women's biological functions.

And you still think that men should be able to pretend to feed babies.

Felt disgusted even using the word "breastfeeding" to describe what he's doing.

Trans women feeding chemical ridden milk to babies - approved by NHS

Absolute bollocks to women finding it erotic, particularly if they're also looking after a newborn 24/7. Bollocks. Big massive hairy bollocks. Fake news. Shows a complete and utter and frankly astounding lack of knowledge of what looking after a newborn actually entails. Breastfeeding actually depresses both fertility and sex drive in female mammals as a general rule.

But they don't care about reality or about the wellbeing of the child. We see you.

This - all day long.
As every woman on this board knows.

Probably ought to take that up with Fiona Giles.

And the male entitlement continues.

Now it is to find a very rare female account vs the billions of women who do not have sexual arousal while breastfeeding. To do what?

To wedge in the unnatural process of a male person feeding an infant into medical policy and to attempt to minimise the known paraphilia that is likely to motivate such a thing. The examples of male entitlement are literally jumping out of these threads.

Please give it a rest - I am starting to feel really quite embarrassed on your behalf. How on earth is it male entitlement to provide a counter-example to an insinuation that this is a male-only phenomenon? There were pages of google search results, including youtube videos - I just picked the top one.

Sounds grim.

A quick google has turned up "Fresh Milk: The Secret Life of Breasts" by Fiona Giles which apparently contains an account of a woman finding breastfeeding to be an erotically charged and affirming activity (I haven't read it and I'm not particularly inclined to salt my search history with odd text strings any further) but I don't think this is a uniquely male phenomenon.

Oh dear
Getting sexual excitement from female bodily functions is a uniquely male phenomenon.

Thanks for this reasonable and sensible encapsulation of the issue, and for not jumping on the 'it's icky and I don't like it' train. Agreed on most points, though I file the 'validation' angle in the same category as non-birthing female partners wanting to breastfeed - if it's safe, then surely that's up to that family?

How can it be safe if there's a strong chance it's a man indulging a paraphilia?

ButterflyHatched · 19/02/2024 12:32

Babyboomtastic · 19/02/2024 11:59

IF

  1. there was evidence that the composition of the milk was no different from breast milk

  2. that the drugs used to induce lactation and any other drugs the men (or woman) was on are not passed through the milk and can't harm the baby

  3. the testing must be done in a very careful way to ensure no babies are placed at risk by it

IF all that testing shows the milk is identical (I'm not sure how it can given the cocktail of drugs mind), I bypersonally have no objection to someone other than the biological mother being able to 'breastfeed' her baby, with full knowledge and permission of course.

It never came up, but I'd have no issue with another lactating mum friend breastfeeding my baby personally.

This other person could be a grandparent, childminder, father, sister etc. Having an extra source of milk around in the household would have been very convenient, and would have also benefited my bottle refusing child because I'd have been less exhausted.

But the testing would need to be really thorough, and I would only really approve if we could ensure people did it for the right reasons, which we can't do, as that sort of gatekeeping isn't possible. The idea of using a tiny baby as a prop to pretend to be a woman is horrible. Or worst still for sexual kicks 🤢

A grandmother relocating after 40 years so she can give her daughter a break I don't have an issue with. Dad of a tiny baby where mum has died and she was very pro-breastfeeding, again is it is the same, then fine.

In most cases it's totally unnecessary anyway because of formula. Though if it was truly the same stuff then there's no harm in someone choosing the trickier route.

The thing is, these cases always seem to be about trans women wanting to lactate to replicate a female experience, rather than about the baby. It's back to validation. If it were truly about the baby's best interests, then we'd surely see dad's (especially those where mum died at birth etc) waiting to do it. But they tend to use either formula or donated milk... So take away the validation side and the demand for it mysteriously drops.
