"Human Milk" ffs

SecondUsername4me · 18/02/2024 10:28

Not linking to DM (clicks) but an article on the app today talks about how one NHS trust has said that hormone fuelled milk produced by transwomen is equally as good for baby as breastmilk produced by women.

The director says the terminology Human Milk should be used as both milk types are equal.

In the letter, the Medical Director claims 'there is clear and overwhelming evidence that human milk is the ideal food for infants', referring to both breast milk and the 'induced lactation' of biological men

Ffs these poor babies.

The £££££ that has been thrown in faking shit for men so they can cosplay womanhood while actual disease and illness is left to fundraise for its own research is sickening.

From the TV clip it seems Paluello may think that doing the washing up and the laundry are also activities that women do.

Yep - all that would be harmlessly laughable if it weren't for the "breastfeeding".

That list was eye opening, especially in comparison with the Times comments. I usually scoff when people say MPs are out of touch with ordinary people, but my god. The MPs on that list are out of touch with ordinary people. From a variety of political parties too (but not all of the parties, go figure).

There are no drugs licenced for the purpose of stimulating lactation in women in the UK. Any use of drugs for this purpose is off label.
https://gpifn.org.uk/galactagogues/

(I do not like the image that is used in this, skin to skin between baby and mother stimulates the cocktail of cascade of interacting hormones from within the brain, something that no external hormones or male hormonal system can reproduce.)

Drug intervention is only used for a short tiime if the benefits outweigh the risks for mother and baby. In MOST cases, women are advised to supplement formula before any dugs solution is considered the best option.

Maybe. But a man pretending to be a woman has NO IDEA how it feels to not be able to feed your baby. Not really. He doesn't have the hormones, the instinct, the "shame", the emotional connection to what breastfeeding is.

The only thing the man has is a feeling of "being left out" he has no need, no entitlement, no biological primal urge to do this.
Why should men be accessing the scarce mental health services for women and women's issues?

It's like me being really upset that I can't fertilise an egg.

I couldn't comment on who on that terrifyingly long list is abusive/ likes enabling abuse and who is simply thick. But a few names jumped out, including a children's author and a barrister.

sorry, we really need a "sarcasm" font.

My point being: there are zero to very scarce resources for women on this subject (maybe because it hurts some feelz, it may come into being and women who are having bf issues might benefit? it's a faint hope, but where there's hope, there's life)

Mumoftwo1312 · 19/02/2024 11:00

For me, this is huge. I've no qualms about being a single issue voter. Things like VAT on schools, hunting bans, etc pale in importance, for me, compared to safeguarding babies.

Mumoftwo1312 · 19/02/2024 10:56

Nb the list is in no kind of order so you have to do a control-F to find your own MP if he/she is there.

Mumoftwo1312 · 19/02/2024 10:55

I found something else...

Do you guys remember that trans woman who posted a selfie "breastfeeding" a baby and it turned out he was a big guy in this climate thinktank? He was also featured on TV doing his laundry as a "mum" affected by the COL crisis. His name's Mika Minio Paluello.

Well there's a website with a LONG list of people "supporting" him to "breastfeed" his baby. Several MPs on there and other public figures. Worth a scan to see if your local MP is on there, if this would affect your voting decision.

https://www.welevelup.org/surveys/solidaritywithmika/

Solidarity with Mika - Level Up

The most important thing for any child is love and care. As feminists and mums, we give our wholehearted support to Mika Minio-Paluello who has faced a vile wave of personal attacks for speaking on TV while trans.

i was thinking about this. The times article referred to 'A profoundly gender-affirming experience' which seems a bit off to me. The focus should be on the baby not on someone getting woman-feelz.

But to be more serious: plenty of women have trouble breastfeeding leading to all sorts of mental health issues, some very serious. Perhaps the trans women who really want to bf should have access to the same mental health support as these women? That would be the best outcome for the babies, i feel.

They use drugs like domperidone to induce lactate in men with a fetish.

Domperidone ends up in the breastmilk and can case heart issues to the baby. This is known.

There is nothing safe or ok about this. Everyone promoting this should be in prison.

https://www.drugs.com/domperidone.html

So they KNOW that this is actually harmful to infants - and they still encourage it?

Stop the world now. I need to get off.

Mumoftwo1312 · 19/02/2024 10:36

It is pus. They simply don't have the same breastmilk glands.

I'll try to find that photo of a tw expressing goo that was going round on twitter.

The look of glee on the tw's face was part of the ick for me. I can't say I've ever experienced "euphoria" when expressing BM myself. More just impatience because I need to get 90ml before I get back to work.

Emotionalsupportviper · 19/02/2024 10:34

BaronMunchausen · 19/02/2024 09:51

La Leche League "supports everyone who wants to breastfeed or chestfeed in reaching their goals". This would presumably include any father (or indeed any man) who doesn't 'identify' as a woman.

And 'goals' would include arousal. Not just gender euphoria.

Edited

I strongly suspect that "gender euphoria" is arousal.

I was heartened by the comments on the Times article about this. Outrage and despair.

The vast vast majority of people are rightly disgusted by this.

Over 4,300 comments under the Telegraph article - can't read them all but didn't see a single one supporting this.
Good to know that people recognise this for the abuse of babies that it is.

The term "Human milk" doesn't offend me at all, because of the long-used slogan "human milk for human babies" which is used to reinforce the naturality of breastfeeding against narratives that cow's milk is "normal milk" etc.

Questions about whether the substance produced by the transwomen is really "milk" are more relevant in my opinion.

It would be pretty easy to test the male breast product for nutritional content and for secreted levels of hormones and medication. I don't understand why these questions haven't been unequivocally scientifically answered already.

The really interesting question would be the other benefits - like antibodies. The parent will obviously share the same environment as the baby. If this feeding method gave the baby additional benefits (over formula) then it could be worth pursuing.

And before the "experimenting on babies" crowd jump in, I 100% would want to see this done as lab analysis.

They have.

There is next to no nutritional content. Male "breast milk" is muck.

That money and research should go to ACTUAL women struggling to feed their own babies. The breastfeeding support groups are all closed down round here due to lack of funding, women aren't supported, they're made to feel like failures, feel like they can't go to GP for help etc

But here we are are, funding this to fucking self obsessed men who want to feed babies full of chemically induced milk so they can fulfil a fucking sick fantasy of their own.
Forcing a baby to suck a man's breast tissue to get the essential nourishment they need to survive and thrive, all so the man can pretend he is a woman is seriously fucked up.

@MacaroonMacaron Surely all breastmilk can be described as 'a hormone-laden cocktail of secretions'. If induced milk has the same chemical makeup and nutritional value as natural milk, what's the problem?

You can't compare a mother producing breast milk (from being pregnant) containing her natural hormones to a man taking loads of drugs to try to lower his testosterone and produce some form of milk from his nipples.

I can guarantee that men who don't pretend to be women have ZERO interest in breastfeeding a baby and find it abhorrent.

There's no benefit to baby.

There's no need for time, money and thought to be put into this. Men don't need to do this at all. Men don't really want to be a woman and experience the shit that comes with it.... No TW wanting to do this is fighting for BF clinics to stay open, or promote it in women. They have ZERO interest in what a woman experiences when they struggle to feed their babies. They have e nonacceptance that part of being a woman is that sometimes, because you lost the genetics lottery you can't have babies, periods, breastfeed etc etc. they would accept that women have it hard in life. It isn't dressing up in a pretty skirt, wearing makeup and having an automatic ability to reproduce and feed a baby.

The time, money and thought should be put into helping support WOMEN breastfeed. Spend the money on support clinics that are closing left, right and centre. Spend the time promoting breastfeeding for women and where they can get support, spend it erasing the madness that came from the 1970s(ish) where somehow it's weird to BF your baby, or that women should cover themselves up... Erase the misogyny that made breasts sexual!

There is no world where this research/practice is useful in any other way than helping a man pretend he is a woman.

I can guarantee that men who don't pretend to be women have ZERO interest in breastfeeding a baby and find it abhorrent.

I don’t think that is necessarily true - I would guess that objectively many fathers would find breast feeding convenient.
I’m not intrinsically revolted by the idea of a man breastfeeding. It’s just not something that male mammals do. Similarly they can’t fly (unless E.g. in a plane or attached to a glider)

I AM very concerned about prioritisation of affirmation of identity over care of a child, and think that is in itself dangerous.

That is why for me the test is whether it’s something that would be a worthwhile pursuit for all fathers, and the answer seems to be that it is only done for egotistical reasons.

I think you are missing my point.

If the argument is that this benefits babies, then all fathers should be doing it. Trans identity should be completely irrelevant. They would have to grow breast tissue, but that seems fairly minor compared to the physical changes women experience, so who cares? Apparently this is all for the baby.

However, I suspect that if you do take identity and ego out of the equation the benefit and safety calculations make it immediately obvious that this isn’t a worthwhile pursuit.

I find it really interesting how some posters seem to have great difficulty with the concept of putting babies first.

Once you battle your way through the screeds and screeds of obfuscatory text about urging for more analysis, demanding suitably pure reference links, etc, the shining nugget at the centre is Fawning Over Menz Special Feelz.

And given this is an anonymous forum, they could easily be males themselves.

The internet isn't short of men with a lactation fetish.
