@RedToothBrush

I really don't know who all these men think they are. Because as I said, it's not just those on FWR. It is a new phenomenon to me, this "more feminist than thou" in men to feminist women. No men gave a shit about feminism in the past, including leftist ones.

RedToothBrush · 25/02/2024 14:44

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/02/2024 14:07

It really isn't DARVO what I said. Everything you do on here is DARVO. We didn't ask for your self important presumptions about our own movement. Women and girls are a sex class.

And you've literally said that you don't give a shit about women's privacy or dignity nor women's sport because gender should replace sex in law.

So I'm kinda, not really arsed about what you say, cos you really really really don't wish for women to have sex based protections and youve been quite explicit about this.

lechiffre55 · 25/02/2024 14:42

@DadJoke
You realise that many here consider the the surgery involved in "sex reassignment" to be genital mutilation?
The removal of healthy organs chosen purely because of their association with sexual characteristics ( no one ever changes a lung or a liver ), and an attempt to create a fascimile, again through surgery, of the sexual organs of the opposite sex. That is the surgical mutilation of the existing genitals.
I commend you for your donation to an organisation whose goal is to stop female genital mutilation. I am glad that you recognise the female in FGM. I do wonder however if your inconsistency in being against some forms of genital mutilation and for other forms of genital mutilation is evidence of an inconsistent understanding and thought process that might benefit from a serious sit down and deep thought on the matter.

Just an example : a hypothetical young girl in a third world country, full of life and energy. One day she starts at school. The school is religious in nature and part of the teachings is that is it good for young women to undergo traditional FGM. The older girls are on board with this, and as she prgresses through the school she too comes to believe it. When her time comes she willingly undergoes the FGM because she has been conditioned by those around her to believe it is the right thing to do, and she also doesn't want to be the one girl that sticks out from all the others. There's a lot of social pressure to undergo the FGM. All of the women in her family have had FGM.
Is it right for her to undergo the FGM because she undergoes it willingly? I would say no never, what would you say in this case?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/02/2024 14:11

It's a great example of how this ideology undermines women's rights to advocate for women and girls using clear sex based language. And a reminder of why this case needs to succeed.

This.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/02/2024 14:09

And "you are white" means fuck all here, given that you are making a point of listening to white feminists, and talking over actual women, including black women.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/02/2024 14:07

DadJoke · 25/02/2024 13:28

@Ereshkigalangcleg the Orchid Project does work in the ground in countries where FGM is prevalent. Its board and employees include people from countries primarily affected by FGM. I would bet the farm that you are white, so it’s pretty odd that you would criticise me for talking to a white journalist who was on the ground there for months and recommended this charity, which has the support of Wardere - the black African women to whom you refer. You resentment at a donation to such a charity says more about you than me.

This board is almost entirely devoted to attacking a minority group, by a majority group. What you have said is just brazen DARVO.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/02/2024 12:58

Dadjoke is a misogynistic man, who says he is middle aged and British with children, who has the odd hobby of monitoring the feminist board of a majority female parenting site to push his quasi religious, sexist belief system, which most of the women on the feminist board do not share. He's done it for years. It's like if he went on the Black Mumsnetter section and constantly posted in a gloating way about how they had to include white people in all their advocacy groups. Of course he wouldn't do that, but instead he'd rather support FGM groups his elitist feminist filmmaker friends have told him about, in all their superior wisdom, rather than listen to a black African woman who's actually experienced FGM, because her attitude to his brand of genderist nonsense isn't acceptable.

These self important men are absolutely ten a penny everywhere online, telling women who've been feminists since their teens how to feminist. We see you.

I won't derail this thread further, but if anyone wants to get the measure of Mr Feminist of The Year here, read this thread from 2021 and make your own mind up.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4170253-Anti-FGM-campaigner-Hibo-Wardere-comes-under-attack

That's when Dadjoke lectured us all about the "transphobia" of Hibo Wardere (campaigner for stopping FGM). After a transman with no experience of FGM criticised Hibo, claiming she made them feel 'distressed, invalidated and alienated' because Hibo had the temerity to refer to these girls as "girls".
Dadjoke doubled down and told women on here:
'She's clearly slightly transphobic, yes. She has never said "it's because I don't want to dilute my message that I don't want to include trans men." When she talks about women, she's explicitly referring to biology, as do most posters here - it's trans exclusionary, the very definition of transphobic'

What's that phrase from Maya Angelou "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time..."

It's a great example of how this ideology undermines women's rights to advocate for women and girls using clear sex based language. And a reminder of why this case needs to succeed.

RedToothBrush · 22/02/2024 11:37

He didn't want to help women and girls for an issue that related to their sex and literally couldn't happen to a male because they don't have the same gentials because 'it wasn't inclusive enough'?

Wow.

So he seriously believes that these children - including the ones who are still tiny - whom this happens to, could have identified as boys and it wouldn't have happened to them? Or that there are many victims of FGM who now identify as trans and are being offended by the references to the sex they are and the only sex this happens to?

Or does he just hate any women's charity that identifies sex based violence and harms against women that only affect women and girls because of their sex because his ideology about replacing sex with gender is more important?

Does he hate women and deem they unworthy of help THAT much?

Not forgetting the racial, class and economic elements involved here too with privilege.

Transkids: The most vulnerable in society. So much so, that you have to shit on an FGM charity for not being inclusive and not using gender neutral terms when the entire issue is based on female gentials and you can't properly draw attention to that, unless you make a huge big fucking point of that and the rampant sexism.

Would anyone like to send Dadjoke a box of chocolates?

Thank you for reminding me!

I donated £500 to the Orchid Project, which is a charity supported by Hibo Wardere. It is devoted to ending female genital mutilation.

I want the appeal to go ahead, so go you, I guess?

BusyMummy001 · 24/02/2024 19:53

Have made an initial donation and hoping to top up when I’ve bought the final items for the bathroom conversion to 2 en-suites.

DH is somewhat reeling because I have a better understanding about the plumbing and building requirements of back-to-wall and wall-hung loos at the moment and fully appreciative of the fact that without me, he would live in a hovel - yet, despite being a stay at home mum with 2 SEN kids (one homeschooled), I have managed to quadruple the value of our home over the last 5-10 years.

For him, women are a superior species, not to be muddled with men (and he’s a global head of finance in a FTSE 100 company, so I think my work is done 🤣). One day our gender confused, autie 18yo will realise her super-powers too.
