Boiledbeetle · 17/02/2024 23:59

The legal case is incredibly serious, but reading all the comments is soo funny. It's wonderful how much joy and laughter people are having while funding the legal costs.

They truly are a joy!

Yeah, we do keep it humorous because if we don't laugh then we would cry. We are being forced to scrape together £20K to be allowed to argue that woman means woman in front of the Supreme Court. Yes, we do have to laugh.

Well Aiden isn't happy, he's threatening to sue. (See Dennis Kavanagh on twitter)

"Donating to cases where the Inner House of the Court of Session says you have an arguable point and it’s of general public performance is highly unlikely to cause “serious harm” to your reputation as per the Defamation Act of 2013 lol."

Given how convinced they are of the legality that TWAW and should be running women only services, etc., you would think they would be thrilled that there is going to be a court case to settle it once and for all. And that "terfs " are paying for it.

They are right to be worried because it’s more sunlight, more reasoned debate and the funding of it is a show of support and solidarity by thousands of women. Even if we lose we win.

Larklane - I've just read a stack of them. I'm in stitches. All our favourite people are there. Man at a bus stop, LOJ, Jolyon, RLM, Stonewall, Susie Green, Nancy Kelly, David Lammy and more

LarkLane · 17/02/2024 22:05

The comments are really making me smile.
Sorry it’s not more, I currently owe thousands elsewhere x Fat Tony.

AllieDeCorbeau · 17/02/2024 22:00

I wish them all the best of luck. if they win, and I'm confident that they will, it will set precedent for not just the UK but other countries. It could be a huge tipping point.

And does the fact that it's run out of the living room and not the bedroom make a difference?

The living room identifies as a bedroom, you bigot!

RoyalCorgi · 17/02/2024 20:43

I was extremely amused at Willoughby describing For Women Scotland as an organisation "run out of a bedroom" - as if this was a reason to dismiss them as opposed to testimony to the magnificence of their achievement in getting this case heard in the Supreme Court. Just a handful of women, dedicated, determined, hardworking women, giving it their utmost - and succeeding.

So is GC feminism risible because it's run on a shoe string from a bedroom, or because it's an astroturfed movement funded by the Christian far right??

It's almost like TRAs want to have theys cake and eat it 🤔

"I can't get over how much £70,000 is.

Yes Katy, that's not even half of what this court action is going to cost. Lawyers aren't going to be poor any time soon!

I'm tempted to tell Katy that for less than that I could have bought my house three times over!
