Right wingers, meant as an insult, are to blame for ruining Park Run, not men in frocks.

Complain here:

Voices must be heard, even if this is an opinion piece. This mad ideology only continues whilst we allow it and not speaking up is a CHOICE to allow it to keep happening.

Why have rightwingers made even parkrun a battleground for trans people? | Jonathan Liew

When non-competitive, mass-participation jogging is annexed by the culture warriors, it’s clear there are other agendas at play

I'm sure back in the day he used to be a thoughtful sports writer. What on earth happened?

It can't have been threats re losing his job, as Sean Ingle is still there, thank god. Maybe he's about to go full Nicky Bandini, it's the only explanation I can see given his nonsensical rants as opposed to his articles from a few years ago.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/02/2024 17:25

Maybe it's because when you refer to trans people as 'Men in frocks' you sort of undo your argument that it's about protecting women's rights and spaces rather than being transphobic.

Well, I guess some of them don't wear frocks. That is clearly the important thing here, and not the jaw dropping misogyny of Liew.

Get back in the kitchen, woman!

There are men to feed.

Who taught you to turn a computer on? I shall have strong words with them, I can promise you that!

I have the IQ of a jaffa cake.

RandySavage · 14/02/2024 17:15

Little Johnny has stated to hide replies. He got to about half a dozen then gave up as he realised he’d have to spend literally hours blocking all the posts that demonstrate what a whining, hypocritical turd he is.

none other than JK has replied to him on twitter now -

Problem is, I can imagine that getting JKR to criticise them on Twitter is now a bit of a badge of honour for men who write for the Guardian. A bit like ASBOs back in the day.

Oh shit, you're right - all this actually caring about women's rights then we stupidly forgot to go along with the "trans women are women" trope, we've completely invalidated absolutely everything we've been arguing about. D'oh!

(@NewOrder if you want to construct reasoned and logical arguments to refute our position, I suggest you read up on fallacies)

RoyalCorgi · 14/02/2024 16:35

I love the way J K Rowling uses words.

She should think of making a living from it. Grin

Seriously, though, that's a brilliant response. What a sad, pathetic little man.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 14/02/2024 16:23

Generous of them to offer a 300 word right to reply when Fuck Off Johnathon is only 3 words.
Also, over on X, poor little Johnny’s block finger must be getting very sore. Fool.
JK - Johnathon has ‘followed through’ 😂

Like many of our mouthiest misogynists, Jonathan appears to have a seriously underdeveloped backbone, which means he's unable to stand up for himself in arenas where men don't have a natural advantage."

Of course he blocked her. Now, who was it who first coined the phrase "a battle of wits against an unarmed man".

SidewaysOtter · 14/02/2024 16:06

Well, that’s all gone well for Mr Liew, hasn’t it? And a personal response from HRH Queen Rowling as well. He must feel honoured.

Hmm

Jeez, this muppet makes LOJ look sane and coherent. And that’s not something I thought I’d ever say.

murasaki · 14/02/2024 15:54

Jonathan and Barton sitting in a tree,
Spouting their misogyny.

I reckon he'd be appalled to be compared to Barton, but they aren't that different at a base level.

I don’t care if this the millionth time it’s been posted - this says it all

So sad this is happening

What can we do?

I don’t want dd to have this

Wormwoodgal · 14/02/2024 15:53

Just sent this to the Grauniad:
Dear Madam or Sir,
I’d like to suggest a correction to the title of this article:
Why have trans rights activists made even parkrun a battleground for women?
Yours sincerely

You may think that, I do not. I do not believe it is transphobic to say that trans women are in fact, men in frocks and, I happen to know that's a legally protected belief.

What a wonderful world we live in where we can have different opinions.

Always a leap to the defence of the menz. Next it'll be 'calling transwomen transwomen is transphobic!'.

EsmaCannonball · 14/02/2024 15:35
  • I used to be called Bernard but now I want to compete in women's sports.
  • Sorry, mate. 'Sport isn't fair.'

Why is that never the way the unfairness flows?

Abhannmor · 14/02/2024 15:34

Old commies like me understand the link between testosterone , bone density , lung capacity etc and sporting performance quite well , Jonathan.

It's not only right wing people who know basic biology. No comments open of course.

maltravers · 14/02/2024 15:32

I thought men who cross dress were trans according to Stonewall and therefore it would be an inspiring thing for them to take women’s records according to Jonathan L. Surely “men in frocks” would be on point @NewOrder?

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 14/02/2024 15:25

I read that because I'm a masochist. Beyond the appalling misogyny, why isn't the Graun ashamed to print an "article" filled with cheap-shot insults and falsehoods. It's also unstructured and poorly written.
I liked too how he treated the news channel interviewing a few people who said there's no problem as a referendum on the entire issue 🙄

Abhannmor · 14/02/2024 15:21

God what an unhinged diatribe. Can't get away from this tendentious garbage even on the bloody sports pages. Has Sean Ingle been booted? He is one of the very few on the Guardian who still makes a bit of sense.
